darell1976
I saw this and I know its very early but its funny at what teams are at the top, nope not KU, not Duke or Michigan State...its Georgia Southern followed by Eastern Washington, and Alcorn State. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/rpi NDSU is #27 UND is # 341 There are 351 teams in DI basketball. Sampson
RPI doesn't start showing a true form until around February. It's about as meaningless as preseason media polls at this point.

nodak651
That's incorrect, Darell. We were 341 before the Badger game and should have moved because of our strength of schedule. Listed at 45 here --> http://www.bbstate.com/teams/NDAK
Cratter
Hard to take that site seriously as they have Wisconsin at RPI of 91.
nodak651
Yeah, just saw that. All I'm saying is a 341 RPI is too low with the only game against a 4-0 Wisconsin team.
Cratter
Agreed. Why do these sites have such discrepancies in RPI? Is there no set formula everyone uses?
darell1976
132 North Dakota 2-4 0.5243 NR http://scores.nbcspo...ls.asp?poll=RPI http://espn.go.com/m...rpi/_/groupId/5 4 (BSC) (140) North Dakota We would actually be third in the SL behind IPFW, and NDSU. WYOBISONMAN
I am not sure why it is ranking UND behind NDSU after the thumping we took at Grand Forks. I suspect in a couple months the RPIs will more accurately reflect what the teams have done.

ndsubison1
I know, that's why its funny to see teams like Alcorn State, GSU, and EWU ahead of Kansas. rpi is based on schedule strength not how good your team is overall. winning obviously helps but still
sioux2013
According to CBS sports our current RPI is 143 and our strength of schedule is the 7th toughest in the nation to date.
darell1976
According to CBS sports our current RPI is 143 and our strength of schedule is the 7th toughest in the nation to date. I hope that is the true reason why we are 2-6. Once competition comes down to our level (since we can't play with the Ducks, Badgers or Butler level) we can win the conference and host the tournament. UND1983
RPI is a horrible ranking system in December. Slowly, the major programs are moving to the top but it will take well into February before it is fairly accurate. Coincidentally, I see Calliou made it a part of his NDSU game story from last night. Idiot. Problem is those "die-hard" basketball fans will actually believe it.
FargoBison
RPI needs another month to solidify. Kenpom would probably more accurate if you want to look at a rating system right now.
NODAK13
RPI needs another month to solidify. Kenpom would probably more accurate if you want to look at a rating system right now. So based on Kenpom we are 217 and South Dakota State is 191. Excellent chance for us to move up this Saturday.
darell1976
http://www.rpiforecast.com/confs/BSky.html I found this link predicting our RPI and if you click on the team name it gives predictions on our season. Our current RPI is 181, and they except UND to have an 11-17 season (8-10 in conference play). Non DI teams are not included in records (and probably RPI)
