Snake Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 The only replay I saw, which was full speed, also made it look like it should have been a goal. Quite the "save" though! Quote
WiSioux Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 SCSU with a great chance in a little scramble Quote
WiSioux Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 SCSU power play... Schmaltz with a five min major Quote
WiSioux Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 According to Brad it looked identical to a SCSU hit last night that was called a minor... he was trying to make a point about the consistency, not whether or not it is a penalty. Quote
Snake Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Stupid and unnecessary regardless of severity. Quote
passit_offthegoalie Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Stupid and unnecessary regardless of severity. The referees job is to be consistent. Quote
Hawkster Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 I really had thought UND would dominate the clowns more in that period. Quote
Snake Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 The referees job is to be consistent. Their job is to call dangerous hits major penalties. Just because they may have missed one last night doesn't mean they have to be consistently wrong. Quote
passit_offthegoalie Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 I've seen that hit called a boarding, or nothing. Never seen it called a 5 minute major. These refs are an embarrassment for college hockey, again. Unbelievable Quote
MissSioux85 Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Via game chat Three big calls go against UND in that first period -- the Pattyn no goal, the whistle when Saunders didn't cover the puck and the 5 against Schmaltz. Quote

Just because they may have missed one last night doesn't mean they have to be consistently wrong. That wasn't a 5 minute major. I could find 5 million hits like that that were called boarding, or not whistled for a penalty at all. SCSU guy wasn't in danger, he purposely collapsed to draw a penalty and it worked. Schmaltz barely touched him. Quote

passit_offthegoalie Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Well, this game is over. We're down a top pairing defensemen and SCSU has 4 and half minutes on a clean sheet. I guess if you guys don't care that it's based on a blown call, that's your problems. Quote
petey23 Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Good call and Schmaltz knew it which is why he didn't even bother going to the box. Quote

AZSIOUX Posted November 11, 2012 Author Posted November 11, 2012 Good call and Schmaltz knew it which is why he didn't even bother going to the box. Penalty no doubt about it but 5 minutes was a stretch. Time for UND to buckle down Quote

But if SCSU gets 2 out of this, it will be a long way back. Quote
DirtyBird Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 The next four minutes and 47 seconds will go a long way to how this game turns out. Quote
