Roche gets first NHL point

Was lucky enough to watch the Wild last night when Roche finally got back in the lineup. Travis scored his first NHL point of this season in the 3rd. I think it might have been a PP, and it was classic Travis. He was playing the point and a centering pass was sent up to him from behind the goal as he floated down. He faked the one-timer, and then snapped what looked to me a shot meant to deflect off the blade of Brunettes stick but instead floated and hit the shaft of his stick. Result was still the same as the puck went in the net. The Wild wants Roche to provide more offense and he did last night. In what I did see, he looked to be holding his own defensively as well. He was on the ice for Buffalo's goal but Roche had his guy tied up and out of the play when the goal was scored. Here's hoping he can stay in the lineup.

Go Travis!

Yup, it was a pp goal. Also was nice to see Brad B. out on the pk 1st shift and then Travis was out on the pk 2nd shift. Travis played his position well.

I caught the replay on the news, it was a great shot. Vintage Roche. Hopefully, it breaks the ice for him and he's got the monkey off his back.

Unfortunately, here in "The State of Hockey" they gave the game pretty short shrift to concentrate on the T-Pups. :)

If the game was on ESPN, you shouldn't wonder why they are giving it up for the NBA. ESPN was founded on basketball, college basketball to be specific and eventually it moved up to NBA and then outward to other sports.

What does this mean? It means hour long sportscenters with 50 minutes of it relating to basketball. Too bad I think the NBA sucks and there are about 200 too many college basketball games in a season. :/

The NBA is boring, but college sports are a blast. The fans actually CHEER!

I had to watch a replay of the game on Buffalo's Fox Sports Net station, since I have DirecTV. The announcer did some great commentary on the fight early in the game. I wish the Fox sucky north would replay the games. Though, I don't care to watch the gophers 8 times a week.

I was happy to see Travis get his first point of the regular season. He has been working hard all year, but playing a lot like last year rookie Bouchard. Very tentitive in the defensive zone and making a lot of turn overs that fortunately have not been costly for the Wild. I hope that they are patient with him because he is a true threat when the puck is in the offensive zone. The longer he stays up up the more his confidence will build. Bouchard was the same way last year, but this year he came in and is twice the player because he doesn't feel like he is going to get sent down after every game.
