dmksioux Posted August 27, 2010 Share Posted August 27, 2010 I'm not a Nickelback fan whatsoever, so I couldn't even begin to tell you what song it is. A person standing next to me during the rehearsal told me it was Nickelback, so I'm taking their word for it. And apparently I'm wrong about big schools coming out to something other than the school song. Maybe I'm just used to how it's been. Either way, I don't like it. But if it gets the crowd into it and makes the Alerus Center a harder and more intimidating place to play, then I might just have to get used to it. I think the fact that the athletic department has all but taken the marching band out of the equation it what has really pissed me off. Do you know if they intend to still play the School song. I don't see anything wrong with having the team gather in the endzone as the Nickelback song is playing with an intro video. If we don't have "Stand up and Cheer" played when our teams come on the field, so we can STAND UP AND CHEER, when should it be played? Who's idea was this?? So the band will now be marching in the dark. Ever seen a marching band march in the dark? Of course not! That's completely absurd! Well, that's their idea for the marching band. So the band would be standing on the field, in the dark, during both videos and while the team runs out to the Nickelback song. Then, once that is over, the National Anthem will be played, THEN the band will play the fight song and march off the field. Since when do they own the rights to the song. Just like Va Tech doesn't own Enter Sandman. I thought of songs that would pump up a crowd. I don't go to the games to listen to the band, I got to watch football. And I'm not trying to turn this into a marching band message board, I'm simply explaining what the new pre-game will consist of. I think I have every right, just like everyone else, to voice my opinion. It's funny though that you say you could care less about the band, but then go on to say you will enjoy the band when we score a touchdown.
