Shawn-O Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Off the top of my head I can't think of any ex-Sioux that ever played for the Flyer's but I'm sure there was somebody. Quote

Yes there has been at least one Sioux on the Flyers.... Murray Baron being one of them. Same with the Colorado Avalanche...unless you consider them truly the same as Quebec. I can't find a single NHL team that a former Sioux hasn't played at least 1 game for.... except for Colorado. Hrkac played for Quebec... Quote

redwing77 Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 I knew the Flyers had a UND goaltender at one point... Darren Jensen played for them too. Quote

redwing77 Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 I correct myself: Troy Murray played for Colorado... So, no, there hasn't been a single NHL team (that still exists today) that at least one former Sioux has played at least 1 game for. Quote

redwing77 Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Because I'm bored, I'll name at least one player that has played or is playing for each NHL Team: Dallas- Hrkac Minnesota Wild - Bombardir Philly - Baron Islanders - Herter Carolina- Bayda Columbus - Commodore LA - Marc Chorney Toronto - Blake/Belfour Chicago - Toews Colorado - Murray Quebec - Hrkac North Stars - Casey Anaheim - Valk Phoenix - David Hale Detroit - Greg Johnson NY Rangers - James Patrick Florida - Lee Goren Vancouver - Ryan Johnson NJ - Zajac/Parise Jets - Joyce Boston - Joyce/Bochenski Washington - Dave Christian STL - Oshie TB - Smaby Nashville - Greg Johnson Pittsburgh - Justin Duberman Buffalo - Stafford/ Dane Jackson California Golden Seals ( according to hockeydb, this was an NHL team from 1967-1970 before merging with North Stars) - Hextall Edmonton - Greene Calgary - Berezan Hartford - Dave Tippett Atlanta - Hrkac Montreal - Craig Ludwig San Jose - McLean Ottawa - Brian Lee There were more (obvious) but.... By the way, as I scrolled through, there were a TON of former Sioux who used to play for the Winnipeg Jets. My question is: Which NHL team, over the years, saw the most former UND players suit up for them? Quote

82SiouxGuy Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 And to clarify the California Golden Seals a little bit. They were added to the NHL the same year as the Minnesota North Stars, 1967. Originally they were known as the Oakland Seals. From 1970 to 1974 they were the California Golden Seals. From 1974 to 1976 they were the California Seals. They moved to Cleveland and became known as the Cleveland Barons from 1976 to 1978. In 1978 they were combined with the North Stars to form 1 team that was still known as the Minnesota North Stars. Dennis Hextall played for the Golden Seals in 1970-71. I could find no former Fighting Sioux associated with the Cleveland Barons. Quote
