star2city Posted November 15, 2009 Author Posted November 15, 2009 Hell of a weekend, NOT!! We need some DAC teams in the Betty to get the record back on track If the Sioux had won any one of those games, it would have been an upset. What we really need is some Summit teams! But guess what, up next is UM-KC. Quote
jodcon Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Not sure that would do it. What we really need is some Summit teams! But guess what, up next is UM-KC. Shhh, don't say Summit, we don't want to get you-know-who started again. Quote
the green team Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 I guess my question is... which team will be the first to collect a regular season win? The men or the women? Quote
star2city Posted November 16, 2009 Author Posted November 16, 2009 I guess my question is... which team will be the first to collect a regular season win? The men or the women? Not really a fair question: the women play a stronger schedule. While the Great West men's BB is very weak (it's like 1-9 and only Utah Valley State has won a DI game - that against NDSU), the next stretch of schedule should be the easiest part of the non-conference: UND should be strong favorites over Waldorf and Mayville, slight favorites over UMKC and Edwardsville even with Northern Colorado slight underdog to UT-Arlington big underdog to Drake and UWGB Sat, Nov 21 UMKC Grand Forks, N.D. 1 p.m. Tue, Nov 24 Waldorf College Grand Forks, N.D. 7 p.m. Fri, Nov 27 Northern Colorado Grand Forks, N.D. 1 p.m. Sun, Nov 29 Green Bay Grand Forks, N.D. 4 p.m. Fri, Dec 04 Texas-Arlington at Des Moines, Iowa 5 p.m. Sat, Dec 05 Drake or SIU-Edwardsville at Des Moines, Iowa Tue, Dec 08 Mayville State Grand Forks, N.D. Coyote Fan Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 I see your men are off to a bit of a slow start. USD got thumped by 40 against Texas Tech on Friday. They were defeated by Oregon State by 17 but turned around today and beat Texas A&M Corpus Christie by 3. CC beat Oregon State by 20 and stayed within single digits of Texas Tech. Quote
GeauxSioux Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 I'm drinking my Kool Aid and saying that Coach Jones will get it turned around this year. The Sioux are a young team and it will take some time, but they will make strides this year. Quote
sioux2013 Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 ^^^^ Agree, this team is very young and inexperienced at the D1 level. It doesnt help that they are shooting 40% from the field and only 30% from three and a horrible 53% from the line. Once the nerves calm down and they relax they will start shooting better and then the wins will come. This team will be very good towards next year and then several years to come with these players.
