MuskyHunter
The comment he made wa describing the nature of the rivalries. He wasn't complaining that the Sioux are cheap or anything like that. If you watch the UM/UND series, you're going to see a more physical and heated game than if you watch the UM/UW series. I don't see how you could have taken it any other way... Everybody loves to play their rivals. Some rivalries are just more heated than others is all. Goon
This comment from Lucia is funny considering this years games in GF were completely harmless. There was hardly a penalty.

thecircus
Personally, I don't care if Lucia has respect for the Sioux/Gopher rivalry. As a Sioux fan, it doesn't make a difference to me as I want the Sioux to beat the crap out of the Gophers each time they play. Same goes for every other team the Sioux play. I want the Sioux to win every game. I don't expect that to happen, just want it to happen. If Dean Blais were to coach there one day, I'd still want the same thing. These coaches that whine about getting swore at at Sioux games would have been puddy in Bruce Tellman's hands. Love it
Goon
Love it If I remember right didn't he used to work the oppostion coaches all game at the old Ralph. If I remember right his seat was right behind the visting bench.
burd
Exactly how I understood it to. Don't really see why everyone is griping over it. Time out, Time out Most of what we all say ranges from hyperbole to gross exaggeration to complete bull***t, and we know it. This is just good, clean, Nodak fun, and we don't have to kick the dog or ruin a good 7-iron as long as the gophs are around. Although we stray from time to time, we aren't here to be rational, for the most part. Back to regularly scheduled program Gophers blow
hockey1
I don't know if anyone has posted on this yet or talked about it but at the end of Friday nights game between the Gophs and Badgers, Lucia was asked on the difference between the rivalries of UND v. MN and MN v. UW. He responded in saying that he respects the Gopher v. Badger rivalry more than the UND v. MN because it is not as "vicious". This is pin-up material for the Sioux if there ever was one. It certainly reflects in how the Gophers play. I have still yet to see one of there defenseman hit anybody yet. I believe he is saying that Badger fans are not as vicious as Sioux fans in regards to the swearing that ocurrs at the arena. He is not referring to the players. redwing77
And their end of the year tournament will be called "The Festival of Love" where the Gophers and their BFF Wisconsin and all the other teams will play with kindness and respect and try to get the automatic NCAA bid without hurting the other teams feelings. And after the tournament all the teams will gather at center ice and roast marshmallows over an open fire. *pukes* Could they sing Kumbaya without offending anyone's religious beliefs? Blackheart
Let's not mention Dean Blais and the Gofer Head coaching position again in the same thread...he might actually put a team out there that would check somebody...
gjw007
More and more the coaching world has gone from "What have you done for us?" to "What have you done for us lately?" The margin for error is shrinking all the time, about one down year and your "get out of jail free" card is used up. Remember a few years ago they wanted to run Joe Paterno out of town on a rail? JOE PATERNO!! Guy is pretty much the face of college football, and a couple subpar seasons had them calling for his head. Tough racket to be in these days. UND can look at what Gino Gasperini did and after a few poor years ran him out as well. Tough to be a long term success coach at any level.
