  1. With Clive down we need someone that can go deep, after Drake the talent level is high every week. So Smith at WR and even Santiago in the slot with a few routes up the seam is needed. To me we'll need the shirts pulled on Smith and Oliveira to help get a game changer out at WR. Plus, we haven't shown to be real durable. (Smith, Arriginton, Oliveira dinged this year) (Norberg missed half the season last year) I am buying a program for sure to keep track. I am expecting a lighter load for Santiago because we'll want him crisp for NDSU. Carries will be pretty spread out, but 300 yards on the ground.
  2. 38 - 6 Too much up front for the 'pups' of Drake to handle.
  3. Thanks for the info. News said OL Johnson is out for a while, what happened with him? Is the cornerback back?..Shepard is it?
  4. The video shows 2 other runs by Santiago that were really good. (besides the 2 touchdowns) Good to see Grant Asplin pushing some guys around from the backfield..........big boy with good feet.
  5. Klieman said on the news MJ and DeLuca, 2 LB's played all 92 plays. Is NDSU that thin at LB? I know it's hard to substitute once the Griz start a drive but why not start a series with a #2? What this says is they don't trust the #2's, not in that game anyway.

    Drake is next.

Clive being out hurts because he can stretch the field. We need to replace that that element or teams start packing the box and safeties get a little too comfortable coming up hard on run.

    Drake is next.

At the luncheon today Bubba said the team was pretty relaxed getting back to GF because they prepared to win, they were confident in themselves, and the players and coaches expected to win. It wasn't a shock to the players and staff that they won. Back to the grindstone and Drake is in the way of the NDSU game (my words). Not overlooking Drake but this team is hungry.
  8. I get that we will likely have a loss, or likely a few losses, and maybe quite a few losses, but with what we did week #1 we should be in every game, making them all winnable. I think we can win out at home with Idaho St. being the toughest match- up wise. Montana and NDSU will be tough no doubt. So will Cal Poly and heck even Portland St. I have broken it down into percentages, and this is a moving target based on our most recent performance, including injuries. So at this point, I am saying we have a 50/50 shot at playoffs assuming 7-4 gets us in. 11-0 1% 10-1 4% 9-2 5% 8-3 15% 7-4 25% 6-5 25% 5-6 or worse 25%

I haven't had too much time to research Drake but last year when they played a pretty decent Western Illinois they were handled. A team I have never heard of had some offensive success in game #1 against Drake. I expect to handle Drake yet they will be experienced and crafty enough to put up a fight, which is exactly what we need to continue to build off the big win and improve. It wouldn't do any good to play a Valpo or another crappy team right now, if anything it hurts playing really crappy teams because good players get sloppy and rely on the talent imbalance to make up for mistakes and sloppiness. When talent is the same, it comes down to doing things the right way.
  10. From Highlights, ours and theirs. Santiogo is legit. He has a special step and instinct that you can't coach. Studsrund showed a good burst on his touchdown run, that play looked good. Studsrud was almost in the endzone a second time on that play. Don't know what the hell happened on the 92 yard pass we gave up, the film didn't exactly show anything until we were already out of position.
  11. In one preseason poll UND was in the 60's. Someone else said it, but these polls don't project where a team is headed, they really have no clue, and are reactionary in nature. Headline wins will get the pollster's attention. Even more, statistically we controlled the game........I wish the 92 yard bomb didn't happen. I too think we will 'get votes' this week. After smoking Drake we might land at 24, 25....... So a 30 spot jump or so week #1, not bad.
  12. I am not going to go out and start the play-off talk just yet.......opps.
  13. A few of us called this game a win.............
  14. Wow! How do we give up a 92 yard pass play?? Mistakes like that need to be kept in the past.
  15. Touchdown - Schmitty for Secretary of Defense, sack city here we come.
  16. even 3rd was a win for us-
  17. Bubba for President. Santiogo for VP.
  18. Figured it out. Sweeny is reading fortune cookies and then reads a name of a player.
  19. 3 pass plays......that is a little questionable.
  20. Defense starts with a 3 and out. Great. Now we need to chew some clock and put points up. Rip their hearts out.
