I am thinking 1 of 2 things about QB - 1) Heildlebaugh is looking really good 2) We have our eye on someone, may or may not be Blount, that we are confident about. Randolph could do some major damage at the QB position running the ball, passing would have to improve. Bringing him in at Safety leads me to believe point 1 or 2 above.

And how is this situation similar to a recruit that knew he had 2 visits in back-to-back weekends and committed both times....??? For comparison purposes UND and SDSU are comparable, how does Army compare, well it is a different world. Army football in my opinion plays football for moral victories, their purpose is much greater and more noble than football.

NG - one of the most important positions in a 3 - 4 defense, cause nose has 2 gaps responsibility, I recall T2 saying. Even if 6'7" doesn't get to the QB, good luck throwing over his big paw. I hope we land him.

Starting in the fall, 2016, full FCOA, for football and I believe all sports. One thing SDSU strategically needs to do is protect their 'turf' and Nebraska is in that footprint. This recruiting battle was going to be tough. Think about SDSU driving through Grand Forks to get a kid from Canada. That would be an up hill battle for them. I hope we just don't lie down and take it again........that's a bad strategy.

My 'soft' opinion is that for most their word and verbal commitment still matters and means something, but again, that's a 'soft' opinion. My hard opinion is that you shouldn't use the word 'soft' with commitment, that is an oxymoron.

For sure- Pinke will redshirt. Hopefully in 18 months from now he is about 250 with a little more boost.

Hard to say if we knew about this for a while or not, and were fortunate enough to land Hunt to solidify the corner position already. I hope to see either 1 more safety or corner for depth and competition.

How does home ice really affect the on the ice play anyway?? Home field in football, in the Fargo Dome is a huge deal. The offense can barely or not even audible, can't make line checks and most importantly the competitive advantage of knowing the snap count and getting off the ball is gone for the O lineman. UND needs to start earning home field in football, and we need the crowds to be big and loud.

I don't think it's a hockey basher, just questioning the moral compass of a person(s). To be 100% truthful.....I have a NDSU Club Hockey T-shirt that I wear sometimes. (sounds pretty stupid, huh?) I seriously have one, just for the irony of being a UND Football Fan.

I know, it is so pathetic!! The UND grads wearing SU stuff in Frisco......cutting the tags off their Bison gear on the drive down, that is a deal breaker for me, I don't associate with turncoats. The Concordia folks make me sick, too, I try to avoid them at all costs. (The die hard Concordia grad Bison band wagoners)

You left a bunch out, point 1- the players are prepared for big games, they seem bigger, faster, stronger. And I pointed out NDSU is ahead of the game, and I said it is not necessarily illegal. That was perspective on someone saying NDSU is a lot better than the rest and it's not even close..........it appears it was close in the regular season. Then, the playoffs were pretty much a joke, like just about every playoff run, so what's the reason?

On one hand, NDSU was a few plays away from being undefeated, on the other hand their regular season was a few plays away from being 7-4 (UNI and Youngstown regular season games). The more time they have to prepare and the bigger the game it seems like either 1) they have things down to a science on players peaking for the game or 2) they are doing something different with their players than the rest of college football, and I am not necessarily saying it's illegal, but the thought has crossed my mind. Another aspect is schematics.......doesn't seem earth shattering but they are very sound on O and especially D.

I wouldn't put too much into Simdorm playing at NDSU. It's his job, and moral responsibility, to guide young men and put them in a position to be successful. I don't see NDSU needing a QB, and you could make the argument that UND needs another this class cause we still have some uncertainties. (starter gets banged up, back-up situation is not ideal with one guy that doesn't fit the system and the other hasn't played a down) Feeney had no issues with the Lawrence kid going to UND.....he wishes NDSU was a little hotter on him, but when it came down to what was best for Lawrence, Feeney supported it and said good things about the staff under Bubba.

Looking at him to play DB, we need some packages with 3 corners in the game for certain teams and certain situations in games. Good to see us addressing the coverage need with Holm, Chinn, and now Hunt, to add to Harris, Sills, and Carter. I suppose if Holm, Chinn, or Hunt gets a little more weight on their bones Safety is also an option. I be surprised if the Holm kid redshirts, he looks ready to go, very good speed and ball skills.

We have: 2016 1. Studsrud - Jr. 2. Heidlebaugh - RFr. 3. Barltes - Sr. 4. Bolinske (to redshirt) 2017 1. Studsrud - Sr. (or transfer to Oregon, Ha ha) 2. Heidlebaugh - RSo. 3. Bolinske - RFr. 4. Scholarship QB Does a team usually have more than 3 eligible QB's and a redshirt at 1 time?? Seems to me this lays out pretty nice assuming Heidlebaugh is seen as starting material. If he isn't, we'll bring in another QB this year.

I like his hudl tape. Throws well, runs well, made plays on defense as a d-back, and has a year to redshirt for growth. I think things are clear on the type of kids we want at QB, gotta run well.

Two take always: Other than Wentz, which seems to be helping them build for the future, and they had a DB miss a few games early, but other than that it's amazing SU goes thru seasons with very minimal injuries. We had stretches with 7-8 starters out. It's nice to be healthy and when a team isn't, gotta have depth. Pass coverage, it's best to mug and hold every play, and eventually the refs let the plays go. Maybe our DBs need to take note of the physical play, especially on long plays. (Give up the 15, not the long completion). SU was called more than normal in this game but that's how they cover.

Who's your 4th safety? It's a big drop off after Reyes, but we have some time for development.

I guess Geier might have some flexibility coming in, could be a safety. Ryan and Canady, both are listed at safety for commits. I think an incoming freshman safety has a chance to play, here is why. Reyes - stud, but has been knicked up a bit Arnel - would of been a big year I think last year if his leg wasn't pointing in different directions after a cheap shot. Is still an unknown, especially after the injury. Could be #2 safety, but hard to rely on that right now. Palmborg- played over Flowers, and didn't play too bad considering he was on scout team most of the year. He could be key as #2 or 3 safety and maybe nickel....... Flowers- time to step up and play.......need some sign of life from this guy Tucker- haven't heard anything, good or bad. If he was really impressive we would have heard some chatter. Johnson- moved to OLB So, we have a stud, one unknown in Arnel, Palmborg who was kind of a surprise, and a couple TBDs but not lighting the world on fire, Flowers and Tucker. We seriously need a freshman to be a player next year!! Maybe a juco...... Holm could be a possible safety too, more than Chinn. Anyone else concerned about safety??
