  1. We need to show capable of utilizing talent or those with talent won't bother coming to UND. I totally agree with the rest of your post.
  2. I understand we checked-out against Drake and eased up too soon, a week before playing NDSU, that part makes sense. My concern is we can't find a way to have at least a little success against top tier opponents. I am calling 150-200 yards a little success, and 64 yards.........well, that just sucks-
  3. Especially when you bomb out on your game plan and have no plan B and can't make adjustments offensively. #still dumbfounded by our offense that game It would be really sweet to be 4-1 with NDSU 2-2 after Saturday.
  4. Iwarri seemed hesitant to me. I expect it will be addressed this week. If the kid is so fast and has some ball skills isn't this a way to stretch the field?
  5. yep - And regardless of the QB, we need 2-3 shots down the field each game. Run Smith or Santiago up a seam, something to keep 9 out of the box. We need a vertical PA pass off of the jet sweep action, Portland St will be ripe for the pickens.
  6. I asked, not sure it will get out. You can still judge off the video posted already, but a better look exists. It only confirmed my 95% belief to 100%.
  7. Brown not being in is a good thing and we will be better for it developing younger, more sizable talent. Losing Arnell is a big blow as him and Reyes are on a little higher level than the other safeties. On a side note, I saw a different video of the illegal hit. It shows the SU kid the whole way, unbelievably cheap hit, he should be up for "the laser guided cheap shot of the year" in college football.
  8. I am calling it a must win game-
  9. Not sure @‌ Portland St. is going to be a game I am counting on. They will be 3-0 with a new coach and a lot of confidence. Their wins against WSU and Idaho St. were scrappy, with some breaks, but they won them on the road. A positive for us is Portland St. likes to run the ball, so not a bad match-up for our D. To your point........we need to get rolling tomorrow!!
  10. Some things that are or went wrong offensively - compiled from experts and anonymous sources players - some changes coming this week on the O-line. Clive might be back sooner than later, but not this week. Will hopefully see guys in space more with the ball. pre-snap - too many calls and checks causing player confusion, missed assignments. We will have to simplify. preparation - our guards reportedly couldn't hear our QB until the 4th quarter, we need another way to operate in these situations. Should have prepared as such. scheme - we have a lot more plays in practice, must of lost play book on the drive down. Need to create an advantage somewhere. play calling - on a scale 1-10, 1 being the most predictable and conservative, we just scored a 1.5 over the last 6 quarters. We need to bump that up to a 4-5. adjustments - we don't seem to be making any, or we are not keeping up with the defensive adjustments confidence - missing
  11. ooops, was it something I said? Seriously, Brown isn't top level FCS material. Could be a great guy and teammate, but we can't keep putting a liability on the field because he is a senior and works hard. This isn't Concordia.
  12. I disagree in that we should shrug our shoulders and say we suck, nothing we can do. To say we have to wait for more talent isn't the best plan for this year and for this group of Seniors. Good offenses find a way schematically to produce, and sometimes regardless of talent. NDSU was more talented and that is going to happen in the Big Sky, too, so let's figure some things out rather than saying our guys suck too bad to do anything about it.
  13. He could of borrowed $10.00 from someone, then paid them back with interest with the stipend money next year.......right?
  14. DABDA i am still in the depression stage-
  15. I see it as a toss-up because the game is at home for us. If it was on the road, after the week we just had, I would favor UC Davis for sure. It looks like the Aggies can move the ball, considering 2 FBS opponents, so they will test us through the air and score some points. So for UND, what are we going to get as far as offensive production...........who the hell knows.
  16. OK- I will buy some, or most of that. How did we go from looking pretty good on the O- line last 2 games last year, return 3 starters, look good at Wyoming, then we can't run on Drake and can't gain a yard against NDSU????
  17. I stuck around to watch the guys walk off the field, I was in the front row, and that image of him limping stuck in my head.
  18. Dayo had a serious limp and a pain-face after the game. My guess is he's dinged up pretty good.
  19. Not playing well........we set records for lowest yard total. I am putting it more on the schematics and philosophy in not being able to even come close to the yardage Incarnate Word put up on a better NDSU defense than we faced on Saturday. (I am really pissed, but I do like and respect all of our coaches, I know they are capable so that makes it more frustrating than anything)
  20. Or, we just lost a starting safety!! A guy we needed to compete in the Big Sky. And we need to point things out when teams do this and officials are silent.
  21. When you see 4 yards of total offense in the 3rd quarter, people should be called out, coaches and players. Plus Drake in the second half. The vaunted Drake that just got smoked 52-0 by South Dakota.
  22. Conner probably graded out well on that play for getting a defender on the ground, that is how it works. A snapped leg, just a minor detail. He was dead set on cutting Arnell down, even when the legal angle was no longer there.
  23. If we would of had 100 yards going into half with some missed opportunities on plays we could come back to that would be one thing and let's keep playing. But to have 4 yards, and our biggest positive is no false starts.........might want to go with plan B. We didn't have a plan B. We should of had at least 2 balls floated to our 6'5" receiver on 5'10" DB and I would of twice maxed protected or rolled the pocket with 2 verticle routes and a deep middle post.....take a deep shot!! I am wondering how far Studsrud can throw it? I think Joe and Bartles have cannons, 70 yard type.
  24. Javon Butler........I don't know, the coaches are paid to figure out something that looks like an offense. And I was referring to NDSU's jet sweep run package.
  25. Well, some one caught it. Saying we want to run the ball is great and it is fun to pound your chest and talk about, but let's not be so philosophically stubborn that we won't adjust or have an offensive package in place to jump start things. Why not go to a hurry up 2 minute offense with a big arm on the bench, it would have been better than sitting under center for 15 seconds waiting to see how loud the SU fan base could get. And after that long wait we run a very simple run play a junior high team could grasp in about 5 seconds. News flash, we are going to face teams that are more talented, to say we are going to run the ball until we have "the horses" to do it is foolish. I'm sure the Packers could run full back dive all game long against a high school team because they have the horses to do it. So for UND, we better find a way to generate offense and points cause I don't see any high school teams on the schedule. Look at SU, they like the power run game, but weren't married to it. They only had about 35 yards from their power stuff. The jet sweep misdirection was way more effective on the ground. And.........they knew they could pass, especially on one of our corners that I have no idea why he is in there. If SU would have ran power running plays all day they probably would have won 10-9.
