Were does Ellefson play? 4.85 forty and not overly strong.....maybe redshirt and work on his speed/strength for TE? My dad is from Hawley so he's taking an interest to Ellefson. The guy I think is scary for SU is the WR from the private school in MN......I forget what private school.
-
Ben Ellefson was dominating class A competition........I think he has a lot to prove/learn given the talent level SU has. If he was dominating class 4A or 5A that would be different. Just saying.
-
WR Dulin could play right away, too.
-
I think DL is a little more critical than ILB, we could use another big body up front on D. LBs are a little bit interchangeable, but it doesn't matter how good they are if the front 3 don't hold up. Our biggest concerns next year are QB play and the D-line holding up. Oliviara and Santiago play right away and 2-3 secondary guys won't redshirt. (Smith, Carter, Hilton). Watch out, the secondary could be pretty good next year, with depth.

Going into his Sophomore year........this would be a good time for 10lbs of muscle before fall.
-
Yep, but knowing the offense and picking up the blitz and other nuances may take a few games for Oliveira. Norberg has game experience and spring ball which will give the coaches a certain comfort level.
-
As it sits right now I expect Arrington to get 65-70% of the carries to start the year. Norberg and Oliveira to split the rest with a splash of Santiago and Georges. As the season goes on Oliveira will get more carries and if Arrington and Oliveira stay healthy they split carries evenly or coaches give a few more carries to the hot back on a per game basis. I think Norberg could he used as a fullback type if not needed at RB. I would love to see Simmons and Sharp in the mix but I am counting Simmons out with injury and Sharp as too average to play.

Bubba and Bohl need to make a gentleman's agreement in that 1) Wyoming grants the release 2) Bubba doesn't travel him against Wyoming. Problem solved. For a guy like Bohl, who makes a living, really good living, off of college athletes, to robb a kid of his junior year is classless. I am really questioning Bohl as a man........
-
He did apply, he has a good case, but might be a moot point.
-
Thanks to all for the info. on eligibility. About Simmons........he could be done, Drs. won't clear him to play, last I heard.
-
An athlete loses a year of eligibility not being in a program?? His 2014 year seems to be a mystery.
-
Could be.....it said he redshirted in 2012, played in 1013, and last year wasn't in a program, though. I am not sure-
-
Information overload. What is missing is the eligibility- Georges - 3 years eligibility Neverman - 2 years eligibility Johnson - 2 years eligibility Knick - must burn a year and then have 3 years eligibility Galkoski - has a redshirt to take and then 2 years eligibility Anyone know different??

Two words about recruiting- Playing Time!!
-
Where is the video on him, Heidlbaugh?
-
So the assumption is Heidlbaugh is not QB material?? I think the coaching staff is trying to decide this, too. Maybe give the kid a chance to throw some balls around on scout team and redshirt, what the hell. We have Joe and Ryan (Jr. season) and Keaton (Soph. season) heading into this year. Joe is recovering from his surgery and Ryan is recovering from hurt feelings when Keaton started the last 3 games last year. So, the situation isn't very comforting depending on Joe being healthy and Ryan sticking around if Keaton emerges from Spring ball the starter, and can Keaton physically handle the hits over an entire season....... I see a lot of questions, would be good to bring in another QB based on uncertainty and lack of depth.
-
I like Santiago in space.....slot receiver that can also get a few carries either on end around, zone read, or mis-direction. I think it's a really good move to utilize a weapon. (Percey Harvin type position player......without the headaches and crappy attitude)
-
Thanks for coming to the forum, we look forward to your insight. Kevin should benefit greatly being with the team already. I like the o-line coach a lot, he is in good hands.
-
Technically, but since Hannibal and Sleight didn't show up last year I think this year 2 of the mid semester Jucos count on last years number. So could have 32 new faces for fall.
-
Appears so- crushing it. This class could snowball with a couple more big recruits seeing what we have done thus far. (Of course it all proves itself on the field)
-
Sure- but has to earn it, catch the ball, run the right routs, block on the edges. We should actually have a real good competition at WR next year. I need to dig a little on inside backer and QB position......seems like we need one of each this class still.
-
A 'Galloday' type WR was said by someone on staff. We'll see but definitely a smooth runner with good size.
-
Add a PWO DB from Minnesota to the list. Pretty good size.
-
Not direct, a rep is involved with an Adidas contract. If you have no rep, you have no service. Prior years we have been buying stuff through a 3rd party, no contract with Nike for the uniforms. This drove me crazy because even if a contract for Nike is the goal......you 1st have to show them you are 'contract worthy' somewhere else and quit buying from them.

Defensive Back Analysis (next year eligibility) - Analysis Projected corner starters - Harris (Soph) - Has the physical tools and height 6'3" to be a top tier shut down corner. - Carter (Soph) - Competes every play, gritty, similar size to Tillman at 5'10" and 190 lbs. Can cover and not afraid to tackle. Cornerback Backups - Brown (Sr.) - Undersized but he can play, really quick and is full speed out of breaks. Should be a great leader for young corners. - Flowers (Soph) I think he redshirted and still has 3 years. Good size and athletic....but is he physical enough at this level? Has potential. - Edmunds (Jr.) Has been a special teamer, could be used as a depth player - Bollant (R Fresh) Redshirted last year, time to prove yourself. We have 3 guys that can play right now. If the coaches have enough confidence in our starters, then look for some freshmen corners to come in and redshirt this recruiting class. If we find a 'Tillman' type available we will grab him. Don't panic if we don't sign a JUCO or FBS drop down at corner. Projected Starters at Safety - Reyes (Soph) - Good player. Needs to work on the speed of the game and his angles. Other Safeties - James (Sr) - Not a top level safety but might start at beginning of the year with his experience. Provides for good depth. - Blackmon (Sr) - Has a nose for the ball or the ball has a nose for him. He will see some time for sure. Provides for good depth. - Aenell and Johnson (Jrs both are JUCO transfers) I think one of these guys will be the other starter when ready. Both have good size. - Montague (Soph) Kind of a wild card, played a little special teams last year, was listed on 2-deep at one point. I think a JUCO guy ends up starting next to Reyes, providing us with some size at safety, which is needed with the receivers in the Big Sky. James and Blackmon will provide depth and either could be starting 'Nickel', and in this league 5 DBs are needed on the field in certain situations. We should look to add a freshman safety, redshirt him, and have him ready to go as we lose 2 Seniors after next season. JUCO guys are the wild card at safety, but we did have more time this year to target guys that we wanted. Plus, I believe both safeties are on campus now and will play spring ball.
