Big Sky is the same story every year. A few good teams at the top and horrible teams throughout the bottom.UND might win 7 games this year, but which win is going to stand out to the playoff committee and scream to them? There has never been a 7 win team, other than a conference champ, who has made the playoffs without winning a game against a ranked opponent or FBS team.

7 ranked teams reside in the Missouri Valley. Computer ratings also have the league by far as the strongest league. Yes, without a doubt it is the strongest league this year.

The Missouri Valley is by far the toughest conference in the FCS this year. I don't even think a 7 win valley team gets in this year.

7-5 with no quality wins does not equal a playoff birth. NDSU did happen to make the playoffs in 2010 with 7 wins but they had a win over an FBS team and multiple wins over ranked FCS teams. UND has to beat EWU and run the table to even have a sniff at the playoffs. Even then I doubt it considering the big sky will at most get 3 teams in and based on current rankings, it will be dam near impossible for UND to jump EWU, Montana State or Montana.

I think I missed one home game in 2008. 2009 I attended all of them. 2008 NDSU started ranked top 5 in the FCS if I am not mistaken. Injuries devastated that team. 2009 was a year with a new D coordinator trying to run a system that did not fit NDSU and had personnel issues with the shoplifters. I guess I never thought the down year would last long once Bohl cleaned house, which it did not.

More importantly how do you figure you "almost" beat Montana State? That was a 26-7 game at halftime and got to within 11 points very late in the game. That is not an almost win where I come from. As for the Montana game they didn't have their best offensive player and QB for a good chunk of the game. Stop drinking the koolaid. U

Quick question for you UND fans. What good offense have you gone up against and shut down?

I don't see enough progress in order to beat NDSU next year in Fargo. Maybe 2019.

Fans sure are excited about these close losses though. I realize it is plural.

When the Missouri Valley has 8 ranked teams, there is no way in hell UND gets in with a 7-5 BiG Sky record with no wins over ranked opponents. Big Sky will get 2, maybe 3 teams in this year. I could easily see 7 wins this year for UND though.

How am I smack talking? On paper UND has a ton of unproven talent coming back next year and a coach who knows how to grind out games and get a moral victory. I am worried about this game next year.

Don't know if NDSU will be able to handle all of this unproven talent UND has coming into next year. They have already shown the talent and determination to really rack up the moral victories this year and contend for a hypothetical playoff birth.

Boy must be nice to see Bubba's morals victories already piling up leading to a hypothetical playoff birth.

Hockey season is starting up. When is does, UND football becomes second fiddle.

UNI is one of the handful of teams capable of beating NDSU this year. They were a top 5 team past year before the injuries and are a top 5 team now.

The University of North Dakota's mascot is not the University of North Dakota....you have no mascot. I come one to this site mainly to give sit and see meltdowns. Really says something about the state of UND's football team when discussing NDSU is your most favorite topic...meanwhile over at Bisonville they are talking about National Championships, hosting ESPN College Game day and most importantly Bison football games.

Did not know UND had a current mascot.If so, please tell me what it is.

What you should to do is go buy a UND shirt that has their mascot name on it....oh wait you can't.

Weber State impressed me. They have 8 FBS transfers this year and played tough. That team will finish .500 this year.

It is a great experience for a fan of college football regardless if what campus it is on.

SDSU has played in the playoffs multiple times, beat numerous ranked FCS teams , including quite possibly the best NDSU team of all time, 2007 NDSU, who entered that game ranked #1 FCS in the country, 10-0, having beat 2 FBS teams that year. To try to compare UND to SDSU in the D1 era is hilarious. UND to USD is much more comparable, but hell, even USD has beat a couple ranked FCS teams and has that FBS win over Minnesota.
