  1. If you are a fan of hockey, go for it. There is one D1 hockey team in ND. I guess it is apparent there is one D1 football team in ND as well.
  2. Couldn't wait for this to show up! NDSU does not have hockey. UND does. NDSU and UND both have football. See the big difference?
  3. Which is why USD and SDSU isn't even a rivalry. They don't give a !@#$.
  4. LMAO. I guess that's why my cousin who went to UND and lives in Dickinson calls me after every Bison game that he watches each Saturday and drives to Fargo twice a year to tailgate. Besides people who have kids at UND, I don't know a single NDSU fan who spends their Saturdays in GF watching UND football.
  5. Many more examples of that. Seems like every weekend I see Facebook pictures posted of guys I know who went to UND, decked to the 9's in Bison gear tailgating at NDSU. These bandwagon fans you guys love to talk about? They aren't casual fans. They are people who once were fans of UND! Probably why UND attendance continues to decline. More and more UND alumni flock to NDSU to have a better time and watch a better product.
  6. True football rivals don't have their alumni converting to fans of the other football team, tailgating at their football games, attending games of the other football team, and going to Frisco to support the other football team. I work with a guy who is in his 50's and graduated from UND. He told me last week he hasn't seen a UND football game since 2006. I asked him why and he said him and his wife, who also graduated from UND, spend their Saturdays tailgating at NDSU football games so it is hard to catch UND games! True story. Even Joel Heitkamp himself is a Bison fan now!
  7. This is a football topic thus talking about football makes sense. Buttfootball was a phrase stolen by UND and used by NDSU fans to describe you bringing up hockey at any possible opportunity. Really original. For the record, check out how successful NDSU has been in men's basketball, track, softball and baseball in recent years. Furthest thing from a football only school.
  8. Sorry I don't pay attention to volleyball, and I try to focus on football when talking football. We all know how you at UND like to being up other sports when talking about football. Who cares.
  9. 2 points was all I am trying to make. 1.) NDSU fans, by a majority, do not want to play you no matter what lies you are trying to throw out there. 2.) NDSU has very good reasons for not wanting to play you.
  10. I get it. You guys live to play NDSU every year. That is how you have measured the success of UND's football program. That is your Super Bowl. That is Darell's wet dream. I can see why you want it every year. It isn't about winning at the FCS. It is about reliving D2 glory days.
  11. They didn't get a good non conference FCS team. Didn't work out but not locking up the schedule kept options open.
  12. This is a discussion about football, isn't it? Do whatever is best for your program and schedule accordingly.
  13. The schedule doesn't always work out, but keeping your options open, rather than tying your foot to the sinking ship of UND, is wise.
  14. No FBS team in 2015, but always scheduling UND ensures we have to give up something else. We have 6 home games next year when we play at Montana. 2017 schedule, when they play at EWU, is not completed yet. IW, Ferris state etc. is a part of having the annual cupcake game at home.
  15. 1.) 6 home games every year is important for revenue generation and for fan satisfaction. 2.) Trying to get annual regional FBS games is important for revenue generation and recruiting. 3.) Scheduling competitive nationally ranked non conference FCS teams is important for playoff positioning which helps us win National Championships. 4.) Having a bye is important for player health which helps us win national championships. 5.) Annual, but non renewing, home at NDSU games against cupcake teams is important to have early in the season to gain player confidence and for coaching experimentation. NDSU has followed this scheduling philosophy and the results have been fantastic. You start scheduling a non conference team annually and one of these has to go and limits NDSU's chances at a national championship. I have said time and time again that I would support UND's membership in the MV. They can do that, have an annual game against NDSU, and NDSU can continue doing the above to help them win national championships.
  16. Ya and those games aren't annual against the same team are they? I know it is your wet dream to play NDSU annually rather than winning national championships. I get it.
  17. Both Florida and FSU are usually top tier teams year in and year out in the FBS. UND is a cellar dweller who sells half the seats in their stadium.
  18. What is foolish is the two state universities located 70 miles apart chose not to go D1 at the same time and did not end up in the same conference due to one university deciding to focus their time and resources towards defending a racial, hostel and abusive nickname instead of pursuing conference affiliation with other regional D1 universities. NDSU fans get that the biggest thing at UND is playing NDSU. This game, while fun, is not more important than winning national championships for the fans of NDSU. Playing a non conference team every year impedes NDSU's ability to maximize their chances at winning national championships.
  19. Wrong. NDSU does not want an annual game against a non conference FCS opponent. Takes away from having a bye, 6 home games, and being able to schedule either an FBS school or a top tier FCS school. It is not good for the program at NDSU and does not follow the model we currently have in place that is enabling us to be the best FCS program. Want the game annually? Join the MV like the rest of the Dakota schools.
  20. 1. IW does not recruit our area like UND. 2. They don't have anything to gain, which is why they are trying to quit playing these games. I do not blame them one bit.
  21. I am going to let the past go. I guess it all worked out well in the end. In the decade after the divorce , NDSU ended up with 8 FBS wins, 3 national championships, and 2 appearances by College Gameday and also ended up getting our Rival to accept the most humiliating ridiculous terms for a college football series ever. UND ended up losing their nickname, losing to an NAIA school, and suffering from declining attendance. It has been a hell of a decade for this rivalry.
  22. If I were obsessed with UND I would want to play them every year. I am concerned with NDSU winning and doing what is right for the future success of their program, and I do not see scheduling UND is a sound decision to continue to help build our program.
