Drove by tonight and gas is still ONLY $2.63 a gallon at Gateway and I-29. CHEAPEST GAS IN GF! TSA Truckstop and Simonson's are the same. I buy at Simonson's because I like to buy local and I'm pretty sure it galls the HELL out of him to have to match a national truckstop when he's charging 15 to 20 cents more a gallon at all his other stations around town. I'd feel worse is he didn't act like he was the godfather of GF gas prices all these years. If he charged $2.63 at every one of his stations around town but he doesn't. 10-15 cents more at a station just a mile or two away...really?

I'll give the Spud Jr. guys credit - they opened and Covid hit - remember they delivered TP with food orders to survive and they did! Years after, they found a niche at their place in EGF - again perseverance. Now they're moving across the river and making plans to succeed - the old opera house is such a great space it needs to be a part of downtown GF so best of luck to them as they make plans!! I'm IN!

What did the Mn. Gov have to do with this? The company that won the commercial WEED franchise for EGF wants a nice shiny commercial building right downtown and they got it! This will ONLY make downtown EGF a vacation hit! (LITERALLY) Just roll into the state park and GO EXPLORE! Go do some shopping at Cabelas or cross the bridge to GF for more eclectic finds. STILL BORED? Go see a movie at the local theatre! Lots of local restaurants and bars at easy access on both sides of the river and HELLO! A weed store so you can stoke up at your convenience and keep bumbling around having fun. F*cking BRILLIANT for tourism I'd say! SiouxFan can go clutch his pearl necklace next to the Greenway - this will be FUN!

You're missing the point! I still gas up at the mafia station on Gateway not TA but he has to sell his gas at the lower price because of the competition right across the street so HAHA! He has artificially inflated gas prices in GF for years - now he has to take some of his own medicine at one of his stations at least. You can still buy local and save some cash.

Used to be the cheapest gas in GF was always at Sam's Club because, with apologies to the GOBC, no one dared oppose the Grand Forks gas mafia led by a local station owner who shall remain nameless. Sure they don't wanna hear it but there's a new kid in town at the TA Truckstop on Gateway at I-29. They're at 2.63 a gallon while other prices around town vary up to 2.90. Even Sam's was at 2.74 - 11 cents more expensive. Funny part is the aforementioned "boss" happens to have a station across from TA so they have to sell it at the same price (2.63). Another one of their company stations farther down Gateway was at 2.84 - 21 cents a gallon more expensive a mile and a half away. So if you're looking for the cheapest gas in GF head to Gateway drive.

They also do reservations through Open Table - the place has a great look and vibe. Yes, the drinks are great but for us the food has been hit and miss and mostly a miss. If someone is touting the hashbrowns? Might be a hint. They are good but also a pie pan of very toasted shredded potatoes as an al a carte side for $20. It is a classy place for a birthday dinner with an old school steakhouse vibe - wish you the best and let us know how it goes?

Marilyn epitomized what a local writer could bring to a local newspaper with her character. Sometimes brilliant - sometimes cringy but always authentic to Grand Forks - even when she went down to talk to the river in the spring or various tools left in her post flood cleared out basement. She also always posted the local health reviews of restaurants - DAMN I miss that! She was funny, quirky and weird but we liked her. !@#!$ of the Forum to kick her to the curb in her later years but she did live a good life and she will be missed. So sad GF has no local media voices anymore. The last bastion of "local" radio on KNOX is a joke...negative nelly hosts and the same 10 callers all the time - BORING!

Street Fair was a nice walk tonight! 2 blocks of vendors and 1 block of food and drink - entertainment in Town Square. Clean and lots of police around providing protection so no worries for weiners. This event has come a long way - get down there and support it!

RIP DEATH FINALE for Slapshot Pizza/Fat Alberts this Friday. Final orders are taken for a one day GOODBYE - if you didn't order already your SOL! We got 2 taco subs and 2 sodas for ONLY $40 but it's the goodbye and my wife wanted to do it. SAD this is the death knell for both franchises in GF! I had an Atomic in my first couple weeks at UND when Ernie owned the place back in the 80's and have been a fan ever since. Gotta stop the bleeding for classic GF places shutting down...Red Pepper next? who can say...

Taste of Philly opens this weekend at the old Grand Junction location across from the Alerus. Ate at the location in Fargo and it was pretty good - best part might be what you wouldn't expect - canolis!
