It does seem like SDSU's year this year they are loaded on offense. I'm just not sure I trust them to win the Big one if they get in verses NDSU. They'e never beaten them in the past when it counted.
-
Yep we need to be perennial top 8-10 at a minimum. After the top 3 we need to be in that second top pack at least with potential to make a deep playoff run each year. Obvious goal is to get into that top pack and win it all. Need to pull an upset of Sam Houston next year. DB's get ready!

Believe me....I was EXTREMELY disappointed in this season too!! Also, I don't think Bubba walks on water, this season was definitely a strike against him in my book. However I'm giving him more than one strike. And yes the lack of transfers IS on him, but maybe they tried to get some transfers at LB but weren't able to land some of the guys they wanted and instead of getting a warm body that may have been average at best just to get a warm body in there, they decided not to. Obviously given the injuries this past year that was the wrong gamble and almost any warm bodies with size would have helped at ILB. If they didn't try at all to get any transfers at ILB last year, definitely on him. Last year sucked....it sucked bad, and I have a feeling it probably humbled all of the coaches and I'm sure looking back they probably think about things they would of, or should have done differently. Hoping it only makes them work even harder this off season and next year so this never happens again. As for Studs, no I don't really fully count him as Bubba's recruit. Bubba's staff gets credit for getting him to keep his commitment, but I don't give them credit for finding and recruiting him. Thank goodness we had Studs though. With that said, hopefully the next 3 QB's that Bubba did bring in surpass Stud's performance.

Yep Moody can shoot it! Are they red shirting him this year or has he played a little?
-
It's been mentioned many times, he apparently just can' comprehend Bubba's first true recruiting class would have only been sophomores this year and that the lack of food depth in the upper classes isn' necessarily on him, other than perhaps not bringing in transfers. Which the transfer thing is kinda funny..... you get many people say that transfers and juco isn' the way to go and they often don' work out, but yet then are disappointed when we don't have more.
-
I wanted the game to be real close to make a good showing for the Big Sky but wanted JMU to win, so that was perfect.
-
Sounds like a good idea to me, take an athletic, tough possibly over looked WR receiver and teach him how to play corner. Nice size at 6'1. Was Harris more of a WR in High School? That other CB commit we got played a lot of WR and he committed to us to play CB. Hopefully two could DB recruits so far with those two!
-
Yep you are right lol. I thought about saying QB's too because they do......but then I probably also would have said Montana .....because they seem to land a lot of good QB's as well because they throw it around, and I really just didn't want to say anything good about Montana.
-
Looks like he could be a Santiago 2.0! I bet we could run him up the middle on first down against a stacked box....jk jk lol. I think we will have a good OL by then and be more ok with that play in a couple years. Hopefully next year we are more successful at running the ball and recruits can see that we are a good running team and they want to come to UND to pound the rock ........and we get lots of good RB commits in the future, just like EWU always gets top WR recruits.
-
Never good to see anything like this at any school. But all schools no matter how good the coaches are and try to recruit good kids......some will not be......and some will make some big mistakes unfortunately. http://www.khq.com/story/19335519/ewu-football-player-arrested-on-rape-charges

I think I read somewhere in the past week that Stitt's contract if he hit every incentive in the contract he would get 365k.

We don't have many LB, S or CB commits yet.....coaches still have quite a bit of work cut out for them with this recruiting class!

No doubt.....we already know how he feels the first 50 times he said it, it's like he feels if he says the same thing with different wording 10 times a week it will somehow help things. It's seriously getting old. Oh well, I guess as long as he limits it to this thread I guess that is fine. I think I am done reading this thread for a while, the dead horse has been beaten enough for a while IMO. I've moved on to next year. Although I guess some people somewhat fuel his fire because they make a comment on here, then he has to make another post to repeat what he has already said a billion times. Maybe he is one of those who constantly posts political crap on FB thinking he is actually going to change other peoples minds.- 428 replies

Yes they have done pretty well. However I initially stated SEC, and then you said P5 conference. I believe App State is still in the Sun Belt conference, they have done very well....but when I look at the teams they play.....honestly had no clue who some of those teams were. Could a top FCS team do well in one of those conferences, yes I think so. SEC is a whole other story though, and the initial post I made referred to how NDSU would go 8-6 against the SEC.
-
Did they move to the SEC and I didn't know about it? We were talking SEC.
-
Kind of like how Appalachian State is tearing things up this year........losing to football powerhouses LA Monroe, UMass, and Wake Forest? But yeah....previous FCS Powerhouse App State would be above .500 in the SEC
-
Don't worry......I had confidence in you!
-
I just saw an NDSU guy post an algorithm on there saying that they would go 8-6 against the SEC, and I'm sure all Bison fans believe it. NDSU didn't look very good against SDSU, and it took them OT to beat Youngstown who got throttled by Illinois State 35-0. They do deserve the #2 seed, not saying they don't. But would they be above .500 in the SEC when they have to play an FBS SEC team each week, not just have it be their early Super Bowl game at the beginning of the year, I'm going with no. I'll give it an hour or so before I see a Bison reply to this comment and defend how they would be in the upper half of the SEC.

For the guys that are Juniors (2014 class if their redshirt was not pulled) the staff wasn't in position until January. As somebody pointed out on another thread, the 2014 class was a killer for ILB. We had none of them contribute in 2017, Bakker would have if he didn't have to retire. Hard to fault the staff for not getting an all the way around good recruiting class for 2014 when they didn't start until January, I can't fully blame them for the 2014 ILB guys that were recruited. Would you admit that this was at least a little bit out of their control.....that there isn't more/better depth in what would have been the junior class this past year given that they had 30 days to put that class together? I will give you that they should have brought in a transfer or two at ILB to try to make up for the lack of depth. Not sure if they tried and just couldn't land any, or if they didn't try.- 428 replies

I would have loved to have seen Nate Little's face when Montana got beat again by MSU and didn't make the playoffs.
-
It is harder after finishing 3-8 that is for sure, but it can be done. They would have had a connection with many of the players before the year started, hopefully. The guys who are now Sophomores were recruited after our 5-7 season and there were some good ones in there such as Holm, Rodgers, Jade Lawrence, Cloyd and some others, plus Santiago and Brady O.. Actually if you look at that first true recruiting class for Bubba there are a lot of guys in there that have already contributed quite a bit for being underclassmen. Obviously 3-8 is worse than 5-7 but we were also 9-3 the year before so perception wise it is maybe about a wash. They can still land some good guys, although I am admittedly more nervous about our recruiting class this year than last year. Need to take advantage of hitting recruiting early in the off season since our last regular season week was a bye and we aren't in the playoffs. Get 'er done!
-
Yes generally speaking you do need pretty good QB play to win a Championship. Zimmerman threw 3 TD's in the second half against Montana while getting 3rd string reps most of the year. Ketteringham is supposed to be better than him, and I think it was Miller who said Boltmann is the best freshman he has seen at UND. It appears next year we will be in pretty good hands and have better depth at QB than we've had in quite some time, but we'll have to wait and see how well they perform next year.
-
You already know Zimmerman can't lead the team after watching him for one half? I don't think most people include transfers as part of a recruiting "class" so I guess I don't necessarily consider Ketteringham part of the 2017 class. But if you are saying all transfers are included in that class, that means Boltmann, Zimmerman, and Ketteringham are all part of that class. Well then duh, yes....because those will be the top 3 QB's on the team.......so yes we will for sure need them to make the playoffs. Boltmann is the only one I truly consider part of the 2017 class, and I'm guessing he doesn't start. If he does that is awesome and means he is a stud.
