We have 1st and Goal at the 6 yard line, and we decide to bunch everyone together to run up the gut. Seriously Rudulph......you haven't learned yet we don't have the horses to play smashmouth......you freaking IDIOT! How about spread things out and call a QB draw or something, can you EVER do something a little less predictable??
-
That is 90% on Studs, 10% on WR.
-
Wonder how many reps Studs has gotten recently with being hurt, not sure if the snap was on him or the center. Couldn't really write much of a worse script to start the game.....as usual. When is this nightmare going to end.

I had posted that I was laughing how Montana fans were puffing their chest after their win against us....saying it was the best their defense has looked etc., and they sure thought they were something. I said I'm glad they had a false sense of greatness and was looking forward to watching them lose.

Exactly So if you look at the current roster and if you assume all players redshirted like we would want in a perfect world: Seniors - Mussman recruits (there are a few guys in this class like Studs and Dranka that had their shirts pulled of course because our cupboard wasn't very full, and would have normally been in the junior class) Juniors - hodge podge, Bubba didn't take over until like December 30th for this class we had no coach for over a month, we sucked as a team and our coach was just fired. Bubba's staff which wouldn't have been in place until sometime in January was filling out the class as best as they could and I would guess some of these guys may not have actually gotten offers from Bubba's staff a year later. I didn't say it at the time, but there was one player in this class that I was surprised got an offer but I think they were just filling it out with what they could. He also is no longer on the team, I'm thinking he was a good kid but he was just buried in the depth chart and wasn't ever really going to see the field which I believe is why he quit (but I do not know the reason for sure). This validated my initial thought in being surprised he got an offer. He got an offer because they needed warm bodies during this recruiting class. Sophomores - Full Bubba recruits, recruited during our 5-7 year. So these recruits were recruited to a a team that still had a losing record, and no recent success in the FCS. Given the last few years of Mussman regime, many teams still saw North Dakota as somewhat of a doormat at this time. Freshman - Full Bubba recruits , recruited during our 7-4 season Redshirt freshman - Recruited during our 9-3 season. Hero ranked this recruiting class at #26 in the FCS, so not top 10....but not bad either. Ott being rated the #24 overall recruit in the FCS, Noah Larson also looks to be a stud and had the size to play as a true freshman if he wasn't injured. To me these are the reasons why I'm not raising holy hell and saying Bubba doesn't know how to recruit. There may be some valid concerns that have been raised, but I think it is still too early to tell, and the verdict is still out.

Were they recruiting him to be a WR or CB?
-
He just said that to make sure you NDSU people were still reading every single thread of ours, because he knew somebody would reply......and we need an NDSU person to needlessly defend their program or brag about it on our board at least a couple of times a week to keep up with the quota.
-
We need some stud CB's!!! Welcome CJ!
-
Exactly, and I'm really hoping we go balls out at home against EWU and somehow win that game. I know they will be heavily favored but our offense just needs to completely go off in that game, and we need a few turnovers. I'd really like to be a spoiler against them this year. Hopefully Holm will be back and that will be a big help in our pass coverage.

FYP Blocked punt and running into the kicker......were a huge part of it.
-
Could we have been towards or on the top of the conference with Rudolph calling plays this season, yes (assuming that the no injuries stipulation includes no injuries on OL and OL being able to run block) Are there better OC's out there that could get even more out of our offense and still be a time possession based offense, yes.
-
Looking to next year, OL and safety are my biggest concerns. Really sucks that Reyes got hurt and has to end his career on the sidelines, hate seeing that for such a player. Silver lining is we will benefit from other guys getting more experience at that position. Would rather have mistakes made this year when we aren't going anywhere this year.

I agree with most all of what they had to say. The snowball effect of having so many ILB's and DB's out is truly that....a snowball effect. The difference between winning and losing is often small things and we just aren't able to get those small things done this year with youth and inexperienced guys forced in to action all over the place. When the other team can just chuck it up against our true freshman DB and complete it for big chunks every time, and gash us up the middle due to no size and experience....it sucks. I agree seems like the DL hasn't done much this year, a few of these guys are seniors.....do you really think they are half ass'ing it and not trying during the game? I personally don't think so, and it has more to do with the injuries behind them and maybe how the defense has to be called now. I get as pissed off as anybody in the heat of the moment during games when we are getting beat, especially when we are getting beaten badly. However come Sunday and Monday I am more realistic and realize the situation we are in this year with injuries. Some will say that I don't have high enough expectations, I do have high expectations.....I just live in reality. They do however seem to stand by Rudy, which I previously wasn't fully on board with the fire Rudy thing coming into the season but after watching him seemingly not able to adjust to the players we have and not come up with anything very original I'm on board for moving on from him.

Sac didn't blow us out. If they didn't get the fumble and returned it for a TD, and we didn't get a FG blocked maybe we win. Montana was a blow out, but that was based upon an epic moronic coaching decision to not play a QB the entire first half of the game. If Z was in that game from the get go.....not saying we win but may very well have been competitive going into the 4th quarter. Also....we did beat UNC, man.....what must UNC fans be thinking if they got beat by us when they were healthy.
-
I agree. And coming out and trying to establish the run has not worked all freaking season. Come out and throw it, that has established the run for us in the second half. I'd like to see the stats a few of the games...looking at our rushing yards and YPC in the first half, compared to the 2nd half once we started opening things up out of necessity.
-
A blocked Field goal, and minus 3 in TO's with one being returned for a TD, 10 point swing.
-
North Dakota Nice Bubba won't get rid of him this off season, IMO.
-
Thank you Stetson....for dropping a ball that I could have gotten up off my couch and made.
-
If we would start games with more of an open offense, the runs would be there. But starting out the game we avg about 1.5 YPC the first quarter or two. Then boom in second half we started getting big chunks on the ground when we are airing it out more. THAT is what our offense needs to look like from the start with the current players we have!
-
You don't win with that stat.
-
Has Cam Hunt made a tackle today? Seems like I haven't heard his name called all day.
-
UND secondary = QB whisperers. Do you have a freshman QB.....a 3rd or 4th string inexperienced QB......well just play UND and we'll give him a QB rating over 100 to start his first game. Montana's backup QB threw for what 400 yards on a couple of years ago, or was it 500 yards.
-
With a 4th string QB starting his first game.
-
Getting your butts kicked by a 4t string freshman QB is embarrassing no matter if injuries or not.
-
Maybe they should have just rallied around Studs to start the game.
