Like I said previously: 1) This is a mess. 2) We may be on our 4th round draft choice. 3) What will be, will be. I LIKE BUBBA; I THINK HE IS A CLASS ACT AS A PERSON. I can not evaluate him as far as football coaching. I don't think he would cover up criminal acts for the sake of the team. Didn't you assume that someone was communicating with players? There are two people left on staff. If these two men could not make this a priority, then someone should have stepped in and VERY clearly pointed them in the right direction. No excuse leaving players, and parents/families, wondering. A little reassurance goes a long way. Recruiting is a huge, huge problem. I posted until all the Muss players are gone, this will not truly change. It is just like everything else. It takes time to transition and this is not a reflection on the previous coaches. It is just that way. You know having a smaller group of players who want a quality, positive team may go further than stars who throw fits. When a child of ours was selecting a college, he/she did not know what to do. This was less than 48 hours before the signing deadline. I said, "I know you don't want to listen to your mother about this but here is my one piece of advice. Right now forget the money offers, right now forget the XXX(sport) team, and right now forget the location. You need to pick the college that will give you the best education for what you want to do for the rest of your life." He/she looked at me and said, "Well Mom, then it is UND." Someone posted we need dedicated, tough, bale-throwing, proud upper mid-western players and I agree. I think Bubba could do this for UND. And two questions: 1) What was wrong with Bubba's UND defense....did I like those third downs when everyone stood or what? 2) Do some of you men not work or sleep to post here? GO SIOUX

I believe one of my earlier posts said this is basically a mess. Again, what will be, will be. My mother always said, " Cream rises."

In today's society, a formal interview is on the phone or Skpe with the urine drug screen done the first day on campus. I do not know a lot about what makes a football coach great or the specifics of what UND needs. I do know that Bubba is a class act as a man and that goes a long way in anything, even coaching. I don't drink beer so I won't follow that lead.....what will be, will be.... No one has mentioned who would have maybe turned down Faison. Is he on his fourth round draft choice?

Basically, I just think this is a mess! I am afraid to go to bed tonight and miss something!

I know that very successful DIII and DII colleges do not recruit. They take the pick of who comes to them. That is why my previous posts ahve said it will be a long haul.

I agress with Bidago, now they will ahve to work for a position. Again, the foot prints on the field are just as important as the ones on the sidelines! Lots, lots of work to rebuild.

So does Sicatoka want the coaches, players or fans to rape, pillage, and burn?

More from Mama Sue, Being new to GF and UND 20 years ago, I was so, so very impressed. I told everyone I could how wonderful UND was and the whole extended community. I have some professional contact with Native Americans and I really promoted UND. For two years I have read these posts and I am appalled by the behavior. You need to know that this is really the lowest common denominator of behgavior for UND, the players, fans, alumni, and community in general. A "Fire Muss" sign? Then a joke? Really. Hats off to those of you who had the anatomy to stand up to this. Do you think this is what a quality program does? I look over these coaches and see young man and young families. How many of your wives would play single mother for weeks of more than 40 hours and then being gone recruiting? And then the public scorning? Hats off to the full coaching staff for sticking out the season and even trying to win a game? Add in some players who are, at best???, not mature/committed. Fun and games! The AD did what he had to do. His job was to get the HC through the season. Then make decisions. Have any or you EVER had to fire someone? Do you know how difficult that is? My God, I watched some of the post game shows and my heart went out to the guy. At any point, someone in the eye of the public gets put under a microscope. You can't do anything right. It is a vicious cyclone that you can not get out of and it gets worse. It happens to superintendents, hospital administrators, ministers, elected officials, and others. This is a bad situation and the people in it do not need to be told. The sharks cuircle without encouragement. I would hope in the future soeone can stand up to just plain inappropriate behavior and focus on doing something positive for the program These palyers and fans seem to be along way from what made UND football great. It is not all just the coaching.

So guys....this is Mama Sue....I have some things to say about this topic... 1) Kids talk to kids, not even the same sport. A wrestler with a poor experience will tell a hockey player and football player AND his sister's volleyball team. The recruit goes somewhere else. 2) Ever sat in the office of an OC who is the acting head coach, who knows he won't be there in a month or two? I have and I would tell you he was the most professional ever! Very few would sink to the level that is feared here. They are still under contract, even if they are lame ducks. More about this under another topic....watch for it. 3) Yes, the last week before signing is very hectic and decisions are made overnight. But the decision is between two, not 4 or 5 schools. Will UND be one of the two? 4) Yes, the student commits and when you go to the first " warm up game" "intro to the team" or whatever, you are amazed that the team recruited 4 deep in every position!!! Wake up call! Who will survive to really play....do you think these redshirts are thinking this now? 5) Since the move up, just exactly WHAT can UND offer recruits? No play offs, a weak conference that barely wanted them, and national publicity about a name dispute. What you see in upperclassmen is this. That is no fault of the coaches who recruited. They did their best but little to offer and lots of competition. 6) Ever stood in line at Herberger's or Macy's when the young person is busy talking or worse yet on her cell phone and the 55 to 65 year old emplyee is doing everything? Ever walked into Office Max or Home Depot and no one helps you? Do you think this work ethic carries over to the field? The true dedication to make a team great comes from the field, granted helped by coaching, but it is the players. I totally agree that some of the behavior and mistakes this season would be ironed out in a 9th grade team with a solid high school program....major taken care. So your class determines their own personal goals and committment, not coaches. Coaches who leave the box and go to the field are doing their job. There is a lot of time to recruit but someof this may not be changed until this freshman class graduates...that is just the way it is!!
