  1. Sams isn't a leader when it comes to lowering gas prices. All they do is follow the other in town prices and try to stay a little below them. I stopped filling there when they stopped selling gas with no ethanol. Totally different subject but for now with ethanol free gas you can boost mpgs by almost 10% for only 3% higher of a cost. These days will soon be gone though with the government mandating ethanol use.

This is so true. I prefer regular unleaded because I will get an extra 30 miles out of a tank for an extra $1.50.
  2. Awesome, the price of gas will go down quite a bit in this town. With Walmart and Fleet Farm.

Then everyone can make nothing selling gas just like Fargo. Notice though FlyingJ aka Pilot "the thieves" and Sam's never lowered the price here. Fleet does not do it anywhere else but Fargo.
  3. I love coming to the REA, but sitting here I gotta say it is infinitely more distinguished -- and tons classier -- without all the ads cluttering the dasher boards.

How many people there are wearing Canadian Red? Or if you took out the Canadians how many people would even be there?
  4. Anybody else think there is an unfortunate correlation between the ticket prices and the sheer number of unsold seats? My kid just informed me that he would like to go, but I"m thinking that the $20 tickets (back of the corners, lower bowl) are at the top of what I would be willing to spend. Shameless profiteering by US Hockey, perhaps? And at the expense of a good experience for everyone?

Also, does anybody know if there is going to be a fee to park?

I saw $10 to park on the REA website. I wonder how many tickets were bought by Canadians? Come down and do some Christmas shopping and hit the game.
  5. From our media guides, files and archives here in the UND Athletics Media Relations office.

Most don't know this, but before folks like myself were called 'media relations directors,' we were known as 'sports information directors.' Preserving historical archives with information like this is actually one of my primary functions. We have a box score for every game going back to at least the mid-60s. Before that, the information becomes much more scarce.

Isn't that what Mr. Kvidt use to be? Real gentleman.
  6. Okay, that makes sense. Thanks for clueing me in!

I have to admit, that as an undergrad at UND, I don't even remember who the heck my advisor was!

But with U of Wyoming grad school, I keep my advisor's email email address and we give each other professional updates in our field. The dude knows his stuff and is fun to correspond with!

Too liked? Well, tough crap for those other professors!

Heck I never even knew who my advisor for undergrad was suppose to be. I had a real nice lady named Brenda in the dean's office who was my de facto advisor. She knew probably more about the ins and outs of the AS College than anyone. I would go and see her before signing up for classes and see if my schedule would work. She knew what I needed to take and what i din't need.
  7. “I support Dr. Mosher’s promotion to associate professor and tenure because she has met or exceeded the requirements for research, teaching, and service stated in the ‘Languages Department Expectation and Evaluation Policy’ document,” Storrs wrote.

I wonder if the service aspect of the job includes advising graduate and undergraduate students? Sometimes it includes that along with service to the community, or in the case of the flagship university - the state/region/ and..or nation?

Just throwing it out there. Perhaps if she was advising students, they may have went to the dean and argued for her retainment?

I think, if I remember right, that other professors were unhappy over the amount of grad students she was advising. She was, they claimed, poaching their grad students. She had a lot of students that she was advising, That was part of the jealousy issue they had. She was too well liked by the students.
  8. I listened to the comeback against UMD on the radio; the game was in Duluth. Hennessy was beside himself, as you can imagine.

The 75 Years of Sioux Hockey book has a few tidbits. Behind a Brett Hull hat trick, UMD had a 6-1 lead after one period. The Sioux outshot UMD 34-7 in the third. That fits my recollection, that the Sioux dominated but couldn't get the puck across the line. They eventually did.

Who was the Duluth goalie then?
  9. I can think of a few other games in just the last 15 years when UND overcame three goal deficits to win. One of my favorites was at home against DU. The Sioux trailed 3-0 and 4-1 before winning 5-4. Kozek, I believe, had a hat trick in that game.

Bochenski was the hero in the early 2000s when UND turned the tables on BC at home trailing, I think 3-0, and winning 6-4.

I was thinking this game because they really did not have a full roster and walk ons playing major roles.
  10. No, I can expand the player to "FULL", but there are still small black bars on each side of the screen, and, of course, a control bar that does not disappear on the bottom of the screen. The Big Sky/America One player, on the other hand, that receives the same 16:9 Midco HD content (for BB and VB, etc), does expand to a full 16:9 screen, and the control bar disappears (reappears if you point at the bottom of the screen.

I'm not saying that the neulion player is not showing a HD 16:9 screen, because it is, it just won't, when expanded, fill the entire big screen TV (unless I zoom or stretch my TV format, but I don't want to lose the full width of the video provided by an HD camera, nor do I want to skewer the screen, ie wide, short players, etc)

One user here said that he gets a big screen TV filled using the iphone app on an ipad through the apple TV device (guess the apple tv air play is smart enough to figure out how to fill a big screen), not sure if anyone else can fill the entire big screen TV screen with the UND/neulion player. What are you using? I'm using a PC to HDTV hdmi hookup.

I am using the a PC to HDTV hdmi cable like you. Maybe my screen is full just because of how I have the tv settings. I might have it on wide. I only have a 32" tv so maybe that is why I don't get as much distortion as you do.
