I’ve tried not to be pessimistic but this team is making it hard not to be. Honestly even with some of the Saturday night bounce backs, hard to forget the Friday night chokes when many of them have been downright ugly.

I just cheer so hard for us and this years team just rips your guts out.  I am a vikings fan so I've felt this before but it still hurts.

What we really need is just hard workers who give it their all for 60 minutes, and don't have mental lapses and take crappy, stupid, meaningless penalties. A few decent scorers and a decent D-corp and I would be happy.

We don't have that at present.

At present we suck and that appears to be te storyline of this second half.  We act like they should just declare us the winners just for stepping on the ice.  We are gonna lose 90% of our reamaining games at this rate.

Plans are useless ... but planning is indispensable.

For all we know this roster card is "for show" and things will change on first line change.

I just think we play our best hockey in a tight checking close game and we need a third person on Senden's line to help fill that role and I really think Albercht's game of playing the body very well fits right in with their game.  We just aren't built to play firewagon hockey.

The whole premise of the Senden line this year was to shut down the other teams top line and now we are rewriting their script.  I don't understand.

So now are we gonna try skate with everybody in the league.

We need a third Junk Yard Dog on that line not a scorer.

Buddy, we lost our shutdown line when Hainer went out. Their are trying combinations to see if we can get things going. Jammer and Sendo play a very significant scoring role on this team. Two hard forecheckers with Calder, a good scorer, could actually work.

I thought thought Portz was a pretty good fit.

So, what we're saying is that we'll complain about the lines during a poor run, and also complain when we change up said lines. Just making sure I summed that up correctly.

    Lol.

    Calder on the shutdown line?

Not what most wanted, but Berry does back with Driscoll tonight. Guess he's buying into the thought process that eventually he'll have to have a game where he saves > 90% of the shots he faces.

I was hoping they would go with Hellsten both nights.

My guess is that Western smells blood in the water and is going to come out with a fierce forecheck.  I would also like to see Hellsten on Friday and if he plays well I would like to see him Saturday also.  Hellsten has shown in his starts that he is very capable of stealing a game.  Driscoll just hasn't been very impressive and Hellsten has earned the starting nod imo.  Will we see Portz on the Senden line.

An excerpt from Hellsten's bio: Before UND: Will become the first Swedish-born player to play at North Dakota … Has represented Sweden on the international level at the IIHF U-16, U-17 and U-18 World Championships … Made three starts in the 2017 U-17 World Championships, posting a 1.00 GAA, .955 save percentage and a 3-0-0 record … Spent last season with the Halmstad Hammers HC … Made 24 starts, winning 15 of them … Posted a 2.62 GAA and .908 save percentage with the Hammers … Was dominant for Leksands IF U-20 squad during the 2018-20 seasons … Went 18-11-0 in his first season with a 2.06 GAA and .925 save percentage … Followed it up with a 23-8-0 record, 1.93 GAA and .919 save percentage the following year.

I say we try ride Hellsten.  His save % is sub 900 but I think he may be up to the task.  I was high on Driscoll earlier this year but sub 900 save % with that large a body of work ain't gonna cut mustard in the NCHC.

Yep. Need to play well right away. No coasting into the weekend as the Broncs will blow us out of the water if we do.

This is such a dumb argument. You can absolutely have the opinion that Bubbs should be fired, but it's 1) not happening any time soon and 2) not founded in anything but being butthurt about a team that is currently leading the NCHC.

A lot of people will tell you that winning the NCHC is more of an accomplishment than winning a natty.  Imo winning a natty is about havig a good team but you gotta get hot at tournament time.  In 2016 we got red hot at NCAA time.  Winning the NCHC is about consistency.
