Agree, but National Championships are a bigger deal.  I will even go further and say if one NCHC wins a NC and the other wins the Conference championship the team that won the Conference Championship is the better team.  I just want a coach that can also get it done the in NCAA tourney.  Its been too long since they have been to the Frozen Four.  Hope this is the year.

I agree that the natty is the bigger deal.  I equate the league championship more with professional hockey where they play series all through the playoffs.  To win a league title you have to play almost every team in the league 4 times every year.

Of course you can.  At UND we brag about the 8 National Championship not the conference championships.  Need to get it done in the NCAA tourney.

Conference titles are a big deal in the NCHC.  They show who the truly best team is over the long haul of a grueling season.  We should be very proud of our NCHC league titles.

Don't shoot the messenger.....but I heard from a very reliable source, at coffee this morning, that the NCAA is going to put all 5 NCHC teams in the same regional.

Details are still being worked out.

A double elimination regional to make sure that we beat each other up real good before the frozen 4.

Caulfield........too good to be too quiet too often. Best skater on the ice IMO tonight. Needs to translate that play more consistently.

Albrecht is simply a hockey player. Knows his role, accept it and competes his a$$ off.

Let's not kid ourselves........it's Driscoll play that has elevated this team. He was below average through the Cornell series. He's bern the conference MVP since that series.

That save on his back should make sportscenter top 10.

No, he was all over the Savoie hit on Senden, later comparing it to Moore's hit against CC, calling out the NCHC for inconsistency.

Immediately after the Savoie hit on Senden Jammer cross checked Savoie in the head.  It's too bad they took fighting out of the college game.  I would have loved to see Savoie get his butt kicked by Jammer.

Don't forget Hain too. Those guys being out has really allowed some others to step up and mature. Guys like Bast and the entire freshmen crew have really upped their game. And yes, Driscoll has put the team on his shoulders. It's fun to watch. Give Bubs and his staff a lot of credit. What we are seeing stems from a lot of drills and discipline in practice. The naysayers being damned - the system works.

I'll admit I was down on the team when they went through the rough stretch after Christmas.  I should have more faith in the character of the team and the coaching staff.

Getting anyone back (just one) would allow a full lineup with extra skater. I’m comfortable playing the guys that are available but we need more bodies, hard to believe team is playing so well without Senden, Gaber and Sanderson.

It appears that our D corps has benefited from the absence of Sanderson.  They had to step up and answered the bell very well.  We will be all the much better for it when Sanderson returns.  Same can be said for the forwards who had to step up and answered the call due to injuries.  With the team playing so well who do you sit when players begin to return from injury.  Portz, Albrecht and Ness are playing too well as a unit to sit any of them.  Bast is showing some Denny Savard type moves on the blue line.  Hard question on who to sit.

DU seems to be sitting pretty at this point. They didn’t lose anyone to the Olympics and while they have to face Duluth and St. Cloud in the coming weeks, both SCSU and UMD will be missing a few key players in those series. Plus, DU wraps up their schedule with 4 games against Omaha and CC, respectfully. I expect DU to win all 4 of those with relative ease.

I could see Denver split with Omaha if Omaha can limit trips to the penalty box and get Denver frustrated into taking penalties.  Starman says Denver has the best D corps in league but I disagree and say we do.  I will stay with my hunch that says Denver has peaked and teams are starting to figure out how to slow them down.  Denver's could get swept at Omaha possibly.

"At present we suck and that appears to be te storyline of this second half.  We act like they should just declare us the winners just for stepping on the ice.  We are gonna lose 90% of our reamaining games at this rate. "

You sure seem to fluctuate from woe is us to overconfident.   What happened to us not even making home ice?

I was down on the teams play when they hit their skid but they have rebounded very well lately.  We swept Denver at home and I do think Denver has peaked and is ready for a rough patch just like we had.  Even our 2016 team had a rough patch when they went to Denver and got swept.  My prediction is a Denver slump and we win the PennRose by 4 to 7 points.

I'm guessing they'll win their last four games.
I just can't see them dropping any games to UNO or CC, even if they're on the road for 3 of those games.

Which means we'll need to win out in order to win the Penna Rosa.
I see us winning 3 of the last 4 games...I'd love to see us sweep WMU, but they're a strong team and better than UMD.  So that would put us just a couple points behind DU for the regular season title.

I'd honestly be ok with that if it played out that way, even if I'd love to see them win the Penna title again.  With how much this team lost this offseason, and how many ups and downs they had during the season...it'd be damn impressive finishing in the top 2 of the strongest league in the NCAA's and they'd be set up well for the tourney.

I honestly believe we will beat Denver out for the PennRose.  We can sweep Western and Omaha.  Don't think we will need to sweep both series to win it either.

So we can clinch the Penrose this weekend right? But would need to sweep Western and see Denver get swept? Or is there a different combo of W/L/T that would do it?

A tall order, but would be great to see. Regardless of clinching, a sweep of Western would be huge!

Glad to see the boys playing with more consistency! This has looked like an actual team lately, whereas earlier in the season there just didn't seem to be much chemistry.

Could be a fun stretch to end the season!

14 new players had a lot to do with that i believe.

For a tie, DU has to earn one more point than UND.
That would mean they have identical records over four games other than either:

    - UND has OTW where DU has W, or
    - UND has OTL where DU has OTW.

Too much to think about ... and WMU is the immediate concern.

Win over WMU and keep control of your own destiny.

We control our destiny. I think our team kind of mirrors the Finnish team that won the gold. We don’t have a superstar line but we have 4 real good lines. A team can’t shut down one line that’s providing all of our offense like Denver because all of our lines are about equal roughly. I really like this make up of our team.
