It is strange. You almost want them to win the division but be the 3 seed so that they don't have home field advantage.

I use the TuneIn app on my phone, have had it for a few years now, and have never paid anything. If you want to skip ads, and get full access to NFL games and some other special events, then you have to pay. I think that is called TuneIn Premium? Basic TuneIn that lets you listen to your various local stations shouldn't cost you anything.

Technically, "KXJB" doesn't exist anymore, as NBC and CBS are just on two different subchannels of the same station now. The FCC actually did start wanting to deny and break apart the multiple ownership/marketing arrangements, so companies worked around that by buying a station, moving the network to one of their channels, and then reselling one channel to someone else. There's no rules about multiple major networks being on one channel. It's actually helped many rural areas, who now get more channels than they did before the digital transition. So in the Fargo market, you have the station that used to be KXJB now carrying a whole bunch of minor networks created for digital subchannels. Some call then "diginets". MeTV, Buzzr, Antenna TV, etc. Same thing happened in Bismarck, the owners of NBC bought the Fox station, moved FOX to subchannels of the NBC affiliates in western North Dakota, and sold the old Fox stations off to someone else who put Heroes and Icons and BEK sports on it. That actually increased the FOX coverage area so it can be seen by more people now over the air.

Bismarck has local news on two stations. The Grand Forks market is a little smaller, but close enough that the idea of not having any local news is stupid. Even Minot has one full local news and one partial local news (unless that's changed with the new owners of both the CBS and NBC station groups). Even Williston has partial local news on their NBC station. The selfishness of the Fargo TV stations has always bothered me, and I don't even live in the Eastern part of the state. Instead of covering their part of the state with multiple towers giving multiple over the air signals like western ND, you have a couple instances of putting up one tower to reach part of the area, and saying screw you to the areas in Eastern ND that it can't reach.

The first two weeks are Saturaday, ESPN3 only games. The Quarterfinals will have two games on ESPN/ESPN2, one on Friday and one on Saturday. Semifinal broadcast on ESPN2 and ESPNU. I agree, when it is your rival you don't cheer for them to win. I went to Dickinson St, and when Mary or Minot St was in the playoffs, I wanted them to lose because I didn't want them to get farther than my team did. On the other hand, though, for people that didn't go to NDSU or UND or live close to Fargo or Grand Forks, like myself, it is a different story. I cheered for UND when Todd Kovash was quarterback because he was from my high school. Still cheered for NDSU in the playoffs. Cheered for UND in the championship games against Grand Valley St. Cheered for NDSU the last 5 years. This year I'll cheer for both as far as they go.

Pretty sure ESPN keeps everything to themselves now, especially since they have ESPN3 to put all the games on. I don't think they let anyone else in on showing the games any more.

The last safety was in 2011. I think Jared Allen had two in one game when he played for the Vikings. Someone at Fox messed up.

I was born in 1973 and know many players and history of the major sports from before I was born. And I learned most of it before the Internet even existed. I believe that people that are fans of a sport should know its history. Its so easy nowadays with sites like wikipedia. pro-football-reference.com, basketball-reference.com, baseball-reference.com, etc to look up certain teams/players or even the general history of the sport.

Nostalgia can cloud people's judgement when it comes to food. For instance, as a Dickinson native, when I moved to the Bismarck/Mandan area, we tried Big Boy a couple of times, and found it to be nothing special. Very overrated for how Bismarck natives act about that place. I'll be fine if I never get anything from there again. But the people that grew up with it love it. Similarly, Dickinson natives over a certain age love the Schmidt Dairy Queen BBQ (now sold by the Dairy Barn). (most people would call it a Sloppy Joe) People from elsewhere would probably try it and not understand why it is so big, but when you grew up with it you love it and want to have it as an adult.

Good point on those schools as I did forget about them... Black Hills is in the Rocky Mountain conference, which is also very full, but it looks like they leave space for a non-conference game. They are playing Montana St this fall. SD Mines has a couple years here with a more open schedule in the GNAC, then is also joining the RMAC.

The South Dakota D2 teams are in the Northern Sun, which is so big they play no non-conference games any more. So no, there are no D2 teams in the immediate area with open dates for opponents at any level.

Dickinson had a Model high school at one time as well, on the campus of Dickinson State.

Trinity doesn't cap their enrollment. Believe me, everyone involved with Trinity would have loved to be at least the size of St Mary's and have 400+ students back in 1991 when the school dropped to Class B. You can't force people to send their kids to a school, especially with rising costs that cause tuition to go up. And this recruiting lie in the other post really is getting annoying. People that spread this stuff around need to provide more proof. Name one player that you question that you think was recruited and let people respond to it. Post it on a site like the northdakotapreps.com and let the high school posters have at it. I can tell you that almost all of the players that I can think of that were on Trinity's state championship teams were kids with Catholic families with multiple ties to the school. How is that recruiting when those kinds of kids go there?
