  1. To be honest, I just got lucky. My friends mom found them in a rummage sale in forks. He told her they were ordered when it was built and it was where handicap spots had to go so they were never installed (they don't have any seat numbers on them)
  2. Probably, i bought them on ebay. Tell your wife she did a good job on them, I like them:)
  3. I have a game used football helmet from the d2 days, I have one of each color of the game used football jerseys from last yr (not pictured), autographed jersey from last yrs hockey team, autographed jersey from women's team during the lameroux senior yrs, and some seats from the new ralph arena (left side of top picture)
  4. I have Sioux stuff throughout my house I guess you could say this is my collection:
  5. When they auction the game used jerseys and helmets I hope they make an announcement on it. Someday I want to buy a players goalie mask to add to my sioux collection
  6. I see that people are listing parrosnation as a counterfeit seller. He is selling a helmet of monique lameroux. Do you think that's legit or a fake? http://m.ebay.com/itm/North-Dakota-Fighting-Sioux-17-Jocelyne-Lamoureux-Bauer-Game-Used-Hockey-Helmet-/272377034872?nav=SEARCH It seems all it would take is two stickers to create that helmet?
  7. Slostang, The 3 goals I had for the sioux going into the big sky was 1. Become the 4th big sky power along with montana, Montana state, and eastern Washington 2. Become a playoff team 3. Win the big sky I believe your program has become the big sky power (and usually a playoff team) that I hoped the sioux would have became, so every year the games against Cal poly, ewu, mon, msu will matter to me more as they show where our program belongs vs the big sky elite. I am also becoming frustrated being in the big sky as this conference doesnt recieve enough praise from the polls/selection committee. I understand the big sky has some really bad teams in it but neither und or Cal poly has played against any of them this year. Your team has done remarkable against some elite programs and hardly ges noticed. We win games and get less votes each week. I have little faith that we will get selected into the playoffs unless we finish with 8 or more wins
  8. I don't like the look of it....I am not a fan of the numbers on the helmet....and I think I would prefer to see the letters black to make them stick out more Basically I like the old nd helmet more
  9. I'm fine with waiting 5 years to determine if the f'n hawks name is accepted or not. I just wanted to have a discussion. I can't believe so many people are against this name, I thought it was a great idea
  10. Great article. Best und article that I have ever read. I love the coverage that our hockey team gets
  11. I don't care what the herald wants as unds name, I was referencing the article because the mindset of our fans hasn't moved on from the sioux name, and I don't believe "time" will have our hockey fans convert to liking "hawks" as a name But I am more interested in people telling me if they would LIKE fighting champions as the school name than if they think it will change I think it would look sweet to have the 8 trophies as the logo and have that be the center ice logo at the ralph. We have the championship banners/trophies/pictures of them all over the ralph, it sure would tie in better than having a green hawk be the new und symbol Please let me know if you think that would be a cool name and logo or not
  12. Fighting hawks is the name for now, but if the logo doesn't improve the acceptance of the name (its hard to say if it will or wont at this point) , within 5 to 10 years und will have to change their name. Und can't keep producing merchandise that doesn't sell. Its not bad for the suppliers, manufacturers and the brand of the school. Our new president said the best way for people to embrace the new name was to win the national championship and we DID, and nothing has changed in thst regard. The sioux chants were so loud that the espn announcers had to talk about it. Then a few days ago the gf herald wrote an article that stated that "according to und fans the fighting sioux won their 8th title not the fighting hawks"
  13. I hope people embrace this idea, and it would be really cool if fans would start calling us the Fighting Champions....feel free to share this idea with any friends:) During the nickname voting process, I suggested to people that we call ourselves the "Fighting Nodaks", so the nickname topic has stayed on my mind throughout the year:)
  14. Hi, I know I'm over a year late with my idea but I thought of a joke this morning "I admit that I would be fine we renamed the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux to ........ the University of North Dakota National Champions". Te longer that I've been thinking about it, I really believe if our nickname was changed to either the University of North Dakota National Champions or better yet the University of North Dakota Fighting Champions, I think the name could take off for the following reasons: Fighting Champions is unique....no other college team has it and I don't know of any professional or semi-professional team that has it It keeps the tradition of the Fighting Sioux with using half of its nickname (the only good aspect of the Fighting Hawks) and keeps up our tradition of a championship rich athletics program and fanbase. Merchandise would sell Hockey fans/team would embrace/LOVE it It has the best chance of any non-Sioux nickname to successfully take off People might believe because we have already changed our nickname that UND wouldn't change it again so quickly. But UND has to be dissapointed from observing the lackluster reception from the alumni and students to the new nickname, and if the reception doesnt significantly improve with the logo (which is possible), I think UND will be put in a difficult situation. The merchandise hasn't sold AT ALL. Not only does the Fighting Hawks merchandise sit on the shelves at the Grand Forks Scheels and at the Ralph, but it hasn't sold anywhere that I've been. The Bismarck Scheels has the Fighting Hawks products on sale/clearance, because they hasn't been selling. UND is running a big risk to the relationships of their retailers and suppliers that they keep producing merchandise with a nickname that is NOT going to sell and has the retailers lose money and waste space in their stores of merchandise that doesn't sale. If UND keeps producing undesirable merchandise, retailers will quit ordering it and order merchandise of universities products that do sell.....which is Bison merchandise that have to be bought by their fanbase because most their fans are bandwagon fans that didn't exist before 2010 so they don't have any Bison stuff .....sorry had to throw an insult to the Bison in here:) It doesn't have to be this way as UND fans have acted like vultures trying to buy any of the Dacotah Legacy Fighting Sioux merchandise or any merchandise that says champions on it......unless its a Fighting Hawks champions merchandise....even THAT is not selling. For the above reasons I am suggesting a nickname, Fighting Champions, that's merchandise has already proven to sell great, the hockey team/fans will love it (seriously how many times is champions written on the walls at the Ralph....the players have all bought into playing for it, they are NOT shy that's why they came to play for North Dakota is to play for the championships), and its a unique, non-generic nickname that UND's athletic teams/fans can get behind. Our hockey team logo could be the 8 national championship trophies, and you could update the logo everytime they win another championship (new logo = more sales = more money for UND) Our football team's logo could be the 1 national championship trophy, and I hope our football team is the university that dethrones the Bison and wins the whole thing Our women's basketball team's logo could be the 3 national championship trophy All the other sports logos could be the 8 hockey, 1 football, and 3 wbb trophies all together And if anyone thinks its detrimental to use 4 different logos....do you think that's a worse result than the best case scenario of UND fans embracing the Fighting Hawks name for every sport but hockey....and our hockey team keeps being (unofficially) Fighting Sioux? Our hockey fans are great, we WILL not let the Fighting Sioux name die for a generic replacement name. We love the Sioux name so much that we our passion and dedication will keep the name relevant for decades. We smile and become oddly happy and excited whenever an announcer, analyst, or former head couch calls us Sioux. For being such passionate fans we deserve a nickname that we can embrace and get behind, and I think that should be the University of North Dakota Fighting Champions.
  15. I will campaign again that nodaks should be switched to fighting nodaks... If it's fighting hawks vs rough riders vs fighting nodaks....I believe fighting hawks would come in last as the only reason that people like it is for the "fighting" in front of generic-sports-name
  16. If we could get a high percentage of fans to say fighting before nodaks...especially at the arena...(and get some non official sites to sale non official fighting nodaks merchandise), maybe some of the media (opposing teams newspapers, radio, tv announcers) would call us fighting nodaks....maybe und would officially add fighting...I am thinking it would be a 5 to 10 or more year wait....I would say therr is a small chance of it happening
  17. I am glad that so many of you like fighting nodaks:. (If nodaks win) hopefully a lot of fans will add fighting to the name to make it a better team name:)
  18. After seeing the students with their custom made nodaks jerseys and nodak flags it opened my eyes more to nodaks being a good name, as the current students should have a big say in the name, as does coach Berry. However, even though I believe University of North Dakota nodaks sounds silly, I had a light go off in my head... For weeks I have been getting more okay with the most common, unoriginal team name, hawks, because it had the word 'fighting' in front of it. It keeps some of the fighting sioux name history...and because it allows the fans to yell the word sioux over the word hawks everytime the announcers say it at the arena (which I believe would happen forever) This has lead me to wish that we could become the university of north dakota fighting nodaks! Unfortunately that was never submitted in the nickname process (I am a bit slow with my idea:p), but I really wish it was because it combines the best option with two of our final five nickname choices AND also partially satisfies the pro fighting sioux nickname belief and the just north dakota nickname belief. Fans would have the option to yell sioux everytime that the ralph pa announcers says "...and here comes your university of north dakota fighting nodaks"....and some will yell that forever, but maybe some would quit and enjoy our new unique name I made this a post because if nodaks (or honestly any of the 5 names) wins I am going to start calling und the fighting nodaks and I hope you do too:)
  19. Are you guys having the picture pause and "freeze up" and have to buffer? Or is your nchc.tv webcasthe running smooth?
  20. I live in Bismarck and am going to MPLS for the weekend and would like to stay night in Fargo, but will any of the Fargo bars show the UND football game? I have no problem wearing my Sioux football jersey in Fargo! Do the internet providers in Fargo even get the channel?
  21. 2012 WCHA had 6 of the top 12 programs of all time. That's the first thing that comes to my mind. Let me ask this of everyone, do people think that CC and Michigan Tech would have more success the past few decades if they weren't in such stacked conference? Maybe if we imagined them in the CCHA would they have more postseason conference success and thus make it easier for them to recruit? I like the list so far.... How the top 7 get ranked will probably get most people upset as that is where siouxsport's passion is . . . comparing UND to the other 6 elite programs
  22. Dave, Actually 5 of the elite 7 teams used to be in the power conference:) I really wish und would push for the same scheduling pack with michigan as it has been seeking from minnesota and wisconsin
  23. In defense of the Union over Yale argeument, the 2014 Union championship teams was a lot more dominant than the 2013 Yale team....which should matter in this one-time champion arguement.... Union won their regular season and playoff conference championship and being undefeated since February I realize Yale beat 3 numbers 1's (and our Sioux) so their NCAA run was impressive, but I wouldn't say that about their regular season or conference playoffs but Hobey Baker finalists and All-Americans is interesting, (Dave please add that info too going forward) and that brings up the fact in the age difference in the programs as 18 All-Americans vs 10 seems like a big deal but 18 All-Americans in ???years* of the Yale hockey program vs 10 All-Americans in 23 years of Union hockey program shows that Union has more dominant talent in their time frame (or not have as many "low talent times" as Yale) *looking at Yale's history online it looks like their program is the oldest one dating back to 1893....so I have no idea how long they are officially recognized in the NCAA stats book as being an official team. They fact that they are so old should help them in the rankings though
  24. Really cool list, I'm excited to read the rest Just a suggestion for a list like this, maybe you should list the most notable players from each program as I'm sure having Brett Hull pushes Duluth past all the other one-time NCAA champions I like how this website discusses hockey all year long (more so than the big websites like USCHO )
  25. This is going to be fun....and my first post after I started this account years ago...(i read it every day though:P) I guess I'm really different than you guys too (and I'm adding some that I feel as Sioux fans are important too from the by-product side). 1. NCAA Championship - I know Dave said not to mention it, but I will 2. Hobey Baker - Top player in the country, will forever be mentioned by media, proof of a player's skill which will usually translate to next level(s) success 3. Conference Regular Season Championship - UND has always been in the toughest conference, and however wins that deserves recognition (and a banner) 4. Conference Postseason Championship - Showing you are the best team at the end of the season in the toughest conference / bragging rights over conference rivals 5. Frozen Four Appearances - After all the "trophies" I feel like the amount of Frozen Four appearances is the next big indicator of the success of a program 6. Former/Current Fighting Sioux Players winning Olympic Gold (USA) - 7. Former/Current Fighting Sioux Players winning Olympic Gold (Canada/Other) - This 2 categories prove that our players are top of the world athletes / gives you sense of pride that college hockey / UND / our hockey conferences (WCHA, NCHC) represent our sport well...and I am ranking USA higher because when I tell non-hockey fans that our former player had the most points for his team while winning gold (Toews '10) and then I mention he did it for Canada, it never has the same impact as if USA won gold 8. Former/Current Fighting Sioux Players winning Olympic Medal - 9. Former/Current Fighting Sioux Player Winning Stanley Cup - I'm breaking the "apparent norm" and going to put the Olympic medals higher than Stanley Cup as it shows our former athlete was more elite to make the Olympic squads compared to winning a Stanley Cup because not all NHL Champions are elite players, they give the ring to even the worst player or two on the team...you could think of how of Chris Kuper winning a Super Bowl this year while only playing in a game and see why I ranked Olympic gold more 10. Former/Current Fighting Sioux Player Making Olympic Team - Huge honor and highlight to our program 11. NCAA Tournament Appearance - every playoffs they say how many NCAA Postseasons that each school has achieved 12. NCAA Title Game Appearance - Get to be shown on ESPN for just one night.... 13. Conference Tournament Appearance - get to watch our team play one more weekend against our rivals 14. Winning a game In the NCAA's - I don't know how many wins NCAA wins UND or any other school (well I always knew St Cloud had zero, until they actually won a game), winning that game isn't prestigious as "frozen four appearances" or "NCAA appearances", but we do get to watch one more exciting game 15. 20 Win Season - Get to watch a good team for 6 months of the year, which is enjoyable even if people just focus on what item #1 and get pissed, its the winning games (of any kind, regular season, conference, postseason) that hooked us all in to be fans 16. Hosting 1st Round Conference Playoffs - get to watch 2 or 3 more games at the Ralph....creates enjoyment There is my list in how you can brag about our university to other hockey fans.....or all these bandwagon Bison fans in this state!
