Yah, a number of the Twin Cities suburbs of similar size to GF or even bigger only have one public HS, which makes (or should) for bigger student size to choose from for sports teams. Also, on the flip-side, EGF enrollment 490 so makes it even more impressive how EGF has competed in hockey the last 2 - 3 years against the bigger GF high schools. Heck, EGF even beat class 2A state tourney qualifiers Blaine and Bemidji (they split) this season.

I'm as optimistic as any Sioux fan but gotta agree with you. Yes, we should be better but we should be happy if we get near the middle of the BSC standings. A lot of the BSC teams that beat us this year have a lot of under classmen and I don't think any of them will be leaving early for the NBA.

Didn't get to view/listen to the game but I noticed in the GF Herald today in the box score DeRouen was like 2 or 3 of 10 on fg attempts & 1 for 3 on ft attempts. And Sioux lose by 1 pt.
-
Yah, I was being nice. The turn-overs are killers. The rebounding margin has dropped dramatically. It all adds up to a bad 2nd half. To be honest though, I'd rather win more games and lose by a lot compared to a team that wins MUCh fewer games (style points at best) but loses many close ones. Point margin gets you no where, W-L do.

Wow, you were half-right.

Spot on/ditto.

Not that I necessarily disagree with you but don't hold your breath. I've seen a few times this year folks by themselves at Ralph for Sioux hockey wearing for Lord knows what reason their ndsu livestock jersey. Not kidding.

Never thought of Mia as a chippy team but they sure seem that way tonight despite winning the game. Hopefully all the Sioux players escape w/o any injuries.

Tough match-up, they're on a roll. We really do miss Madi (sp?) Buck from last year's team. She was the nice kind of player with a bit of height (near 6 ft or so ) who could play both inside and outside. We din't really have that kind of player this year, at least not near her consistency and ability in both facets of the game.

Psychic. I was thinking just the same thing at the end of the 2nd period.
-
Hmm, I was thinking just the same thing. You would think they were losing and had nothing to play for and that's how they're playing (they're winning and home ice to play for I think?).
-
And I know they're technically "neutral" site games at BSC tourney but women have really struggled on the road all season so not optimistic about their chances. It seems like we've regressed the second half of the season, unlike some of the other teams who seemed to progress. Hopefully can turn it around but it won't be easy.

Big Sioux fan but realistic also. You may be right but hope not! Hell, I think the herd could take notre dame by 3 - 5 td's. Amazing how the fighting irish (not hostile & offensive I guess?) football team stays as big/popular as it is despite very little done by major college football standards in the last 25 years. They're pulling the wool over somebody's eyes.

Gotta admit it actually does sound nice to have players do a stick salute even if they don't sweep in order to show support for the home fans. However, if you saw the stick salute in Madison earlier this season by the Wis players following a Sioux sweep it was terrible to watch. You could literally see the Badgers did not want to be out there and doing that. It was actually uncomfortable to watch seeing them do it. So, in my mind not a good thing.
-
How in the hell did they not review that. I guess OD or the Sioux players could of helped out by raising their sticks thinking it was a goal but don't believe they did so that didn't help.

Ouch! Good times though, no doubt!

Try a political statement on an oversized banner that says "UND pres is best one ever". I have a feeling that could stay even though it's political.

Sodbuster--EGF next plays on Fri morn vs Mahtomedi in semi-final at 11:00 a.m., believe it's on tv again. If they make the final I think it's at noon on Saturday. Daughter is in pep band and put on 600 plus miles today to/fro. Leaves Fri morning at 4:00a.m. (oh, she'll really love that!) on the bus again.

Good point obborg. Just guessing that will not work too well as a deterrent to make someone stop and think next time they might commit some infraction.
-
Yes, Omaha does suck and it should not have come to that but hate to say it but we sucked this season too. That's why it came down to a close game in the closing seconds. We just managed to finish on the short end (damn, again). Pretty even (read competitive) match-up of teams I think so could of gone either way.
-
Yah, my bad.

Hmm, got me NDSU grad. I'm very curious about that too. Anybody got any idea?

Hey SiouxVolley, not sure it would ever happen but I like your thinking! I always thought the old REA would of been a perfect size hoops arena and it was nice as it only had one bowl. Would of been big enough to hold up to 6,000 fans or so, perfect size for even the NDSUs, NIs and SDSUs but if not full it wouldn't look overly empty either.

University of North Dakota Hockey 2014-15 season

Fetch--I'm as big a Sioux fan as anybody and agree with you. I didn't agree with all the writer said but I have been saying the last several weeks if we had an avg goalie we might be #6 or #11 or #17 in the national rankings (we'd still be good). We really don't overpower anybody, even the lower teams (Bem, AF, W Mich, CC last series,...) but hey, just win baby. In UND's defense, in ref to where the writer rags on our OOC road/neutral site games, admittedly you really can't argue. However, I'm sure the UND schedule makers had had absolutely no clue that when we went on the road to play the BADgers this season (we swept) that they were going to be such a horrible team. And I'm guessing that Providence was a home-and-home deal (?) over two seasons so that's got to be accounted for every other season.
