I do have name we could adopt without any Tribal ok. We could use Williston State nickname as ours. "Tetons" would need no Tribal agreement. And we could use the logo since it is a French word for....Teats. We could also say we are the Grand Tetons like the park. Think of a new logo we could have! I personally would like to pick out the cheerleaders. In all seriousness why was there no uproar in Williston's nickname? This just shows why this whole debate is a fraud. I'm also still waiting for Ron His Horse Is Thunder to change the Standing Rock Sioux name.

People let's not jump to the negative and think about changing the nickname. We just would be able to host playoff games. Plus we will never host again for hockey and football and basketball are at least 5 years away. They can take away the nickname for the postseason but they cannot take it away for good unless we act like cowards and let them! I really think the Sioux Tribes are now the ones to focus on. It will be their decision and the complete country will be watching and judging. We must work with them to find a solution or the blame rests directly on two Tribal Governments. Wasn't it A Few Good Men where Jack Nickolas said "Sweet dreams son." The tribal govts. got what they wanted so I say good luck. Let's all just take some time before jumping to conclusions. Three years is a long time to find a solution.

What would be the settlement be? I think the proper action would be to drop the whole "hostile and abusive" claim. Then allow member schools to call themselves what they wish. UND is not the one to blame in this. The NCAA should be responsible for all court costs and the executive board be forced to resign or be financially responsible. I hope UND does what is right and settle nothing. The NCAA brought all this on themselves.

I do remember the football team using the phrase "Force of the North" with a picture taken in front of an Air Force Jet back in the late 80s or early 90s. So this term has been around for quite some time. I remember seeing it around the athletic offises quite abit. I just can't remember the correct year but it was indeed from 1988-1992. So this term is nothing new.

I almost forgot. I'm glad this group is out there protesting against Auggie for using the "Vikings". I think we should help these 5 people out and make this a huge turnout against the "Vikings" nickname! Drown these people out by just standing with them and our "Norwegians are not mascots" signs. A perfect way for this nonsense to stop. A group of people standing up for Norwegians in Norway who have no voice!

Ira, I'm pretty sure you will be wrong on this one. (I pray!) When we win the lawsuit vs. NCAA those schools who refuse to schedule us will look petty. The Rodents would love football vs. UND because of our TRADITION vs. them (not a perchieved one like The Sister to the South.) Plus the Dome will be sold out because Sioux fans travel. The cost of changing it means fewer athletic dollars for our DI move. But we need to stop this thinking of changing the name. Without the supporters staying steadfast the Nickname Nazi's will get their way and the school will cowardly change it. Do I have to remind us of the way GF Central and the way a few (who no longer even live in GF) got that nickname changed?

It's about time your school is on TV. Oh wait..... NDSU pays alot to run commercials everytime the Sioux are on Fox North and ESPN which is multiple times every year. And the last time I checked UND DID NOT have to purchase airtime. Was it on throughout SD and Minnesota?? Only if you count Moorhead and Rosholt!!

I just love all these Bison fans coming to the Ralph for Sioux games. They are the same ones here in Fargo that say "Sioux Suck, except I love Sioux Hockey!" I know for a fact just a year ago Stop n Go you could buy one get one free for Bison games. Funny how a metro area of 150,000 can't sell out every game. Grand Forks is 50,000 and can sell out a 11500 arena for hockey all winter!! With a line of cars 78 miles long coming out of Fargo every Friday and Saturday night!

How about we forfeit the next 17 years and then the all time series will be even and it will give the Cow College something to brag about! We'll even let you claim all 17 games were actually played. NDSU can even buy airtime again on Fox Sports North and run reruns of the games from the 80s and just change the years. Go sit on your milk bucket on manureville.com!!

I think we have not seen the tip of the iceberg in my opinion. The next year will really be a test and if I'm a betting man our current AD will be gone. If not more coaches will be gone at the end of some contracts. I'm not saying, I just saying.

I think baseball might also be on the chopping block. Here in Fargo Bison Baseball is getting all kinds of hype about just hiring a coach. A person I worked with had no idea SU even had baseball and now he thinks they must be pretty good because of all the applicants. I for one am embarrassed of how our new AD is perceived around the league and even from NDSU athletic staff.

That was a little hostile. Sorry. And I'm sure the teammakers are wondering why I mentioned that Barry Manilow guy. But seriously, do you really think people will remember Montana getting beat by 50?? No.

I hope we never play them again in anything. NDSU will always be second in the state no matter what they do because they will never get and have the exposure the Sioux get across the country in Hockey. Is it going to kill you bison people to see and hear Barry Melrose talk about the Fighting Sioux on ESPN Primetime again?

I have often wondered why the "white elites" at UND never complain about SU using a highly Native American Religious symbol as their mascot?? Is not the Bison held in high regard in their culture? And the "White Buffalo" held as one of the most spiritural? This has always bugged me why NDSU gets a pass from the nickname nazis. If UND changed their name to the "Cross Bearers" would they still be in an outrage. Just wondering why religious symbols are not a target also?

I will have to say the Tolna website is pretty sweet though. But I can't find the section where they list any victories over Lakota? And I'll bet you did lose to "The Rick."

Hey Hoyt, NO WAY Tolna is better than LAKOTA!!!! I might even have to say Brocket beats them both.

I will state it first right here. NDSU will defeat the Golden Ones. I hate to say that but I have a real gut feeling about this. If the game were in the FargoDome I would bet money on a Yellow School win.
