Wasn't Frenchy's (RIP) the place to be after the game back in the late 80's?

Yeah I do! What was must impressive wasn't the little dead Gophers sliding across the ice trailing blood - it was this guy that smuggled a dead badger into the old Ralph ina tuba case and managed to get it over the boards and on the ice after a Sioux goal. That thing must have weighed about 40 pounds - it was huge! I think he got expelled from the university for doing it but damn looking back - it was worth it!

I think that also happened in 90 or 91. I remember the Gophers being at the top in the standings and the Sioux team somewhere in the lower 1/3 of the pack. Friday night UND blew them out 9-0....then took Sat's game as well. It didn't make much of a difference in the standings ( I think the Gophers had a comfortable margin built up for the conference lead) outside of a little pride for the Sioux fans. I do remember standing in line with my student ID (games were free back then) for about 4 hours...ducking into east hall in shifts to warm up and for a beer (yeah thats right we drank beer in the residence halls in those days) then back in line.

Saw one in 91' between the entire Sioux bench and the entire Gopher's bench...complete with sticks flying over the plexi-glass partition. I even think Gasparini and Woog had a few words for each otehr. Gotta love those entire team skirmishes.

Morley....Myself and a bunch of others I know have season tickets and make the trek up from the cities (fly or drive) for most of the home games. It is a haul and tough when they play back to back weekends but well worth it in my opinion. I would rather have season tickets to Sioux hockey than the Wild or Vikings any day.

Canuck...Perhaps you missed the third period of UND's Saturday playoff win in 2003 win over UMD. Come back from a three goal deficit with under 5:00 minutes in the new REA. Almost topped the famous 2001 FF game against BC. Great story you wrote however..game me goose bumps reading it!
  7. Yeah whatever...Just all sit around hold hands and sing cumbaya then.

If you copied it I didn't notice. I was all both Sioux/Gopher games last year at Mariucci and you could hear home of the "Sioux" over anything else at the end of the Banner. Perhaps the fans haven't quite caught on yet - or there were more Sioux fans in attendance than Gopher fans (?). Regardless - I didn't realize you copied it. Never have heard it out of the confines of a Sioux sporting event.

I guess Gopher fans equally dislike home of the "Sioux" at the end of the Star Spangled banner.

I agree - Just as long as we don't stand up and say in unison S - I - O - U - X whats that spell? Sioux sioux....yayyyyyyyy Sioux! There I draw the line.
  11. Points well taken - I still don't mind a dissenting opinion or negative views about a topic.
  12. Good come back! Sharp this morning I see.
  13. Regardless - Keep him on. First Amendment
  14. Thanks for the link - Looks like my $500 won't even be in the ballpark for snagging Bochenski's jersey. The 2002 version went for $750! I'm sure this year it will be up around a grand if not more.
  15. Or just do what they do on POI - ban him if we don't like his commentary. I for one like the controversy - keep him on. If everyone agreed and had the same opinion about every topic the board would be a boring place.
  16. No sweat I can bring back pileofcrap on ice on POI...and refer to Mariucci as a "dump" (which it is).
  17. True - But until they find a way to carbon date hockey jerseys that doesn't concern me. haha
  18. We were talking about between periods - thanks but I don't sit in my seat during periods and I don't know of many that do. Having a private bar is a perk no doubt but we pay for the priveledge.
  19. Reminds me of this jacka$$ Gopher fan I sat in front of at last year's Final Five.....He spied my Sioux Hockey cap and made a crack incinuating that I had must have just driven straight down from "up nort' after I hopped of my combine. Of course I made light of the fact that I was from Boston and if he wanted to keep what amounted to a half set of yellow cigarette stained chicklets he best keep his cracks to himself.
  20. Not to get ahead of ourselves here but I could see Bochenski's being worth something if he reels in the Hobey this year.
  21. Post this one over on the POI and sit back and watch the fireworks...
  22. So it wasn't public knowledge what the jerseys went for last year? I won't be in the $1,200 range like Mr. Airmail but certainly would offer $500 to $750 for a Bochenski jersey for instance. If that is way out of the range they might go for I should just save myself the trouble of even bidding.
  23. Especially if you aren't collecting any interest on it while they "hold" it (which I'm sure is the case. My guess is that the REA collects the interest for you.
