Will there ever be a day when the Big Sky basketball standings are on the front page of Siouxsports.com? They are hard to get to easily, even on the Big Sky site. Even a link would be nice. For that matter, even add a link to the women's hockey standings.
-
Definitely can't take either two of those for granted. Sweep would be really nice, but one victory would be huge.
-
It will be really difficult for any of SUU, Sac St, NAU to gain on us. Sac St and NAU both play at UM and MSU, plus host Weber. At least two losses there. SUU plays at UNC and UND, and home to UM and MSU. At least three losses there IMHO. MSU is at SUU, but home to UM, Sac St, and NAU. With the way they are playing, at least two losses. UNC will have a very difficult time passing us, as we would have to lose all our games and they would have to go unbeaten. With a win at either EWU or Portland St, and a win vs SUU, third place might be ours by two games.

Good points. Makes sense that Hyslop was around 160 m. Just seemed like it was so claustrophobic that it went under both upper stands and around all the supports. Is there a state high school indoor meet anymore?
-
The new facility would have a 300 m track, unlike older ones (and NDSU's new one) that have 200 m. To host the meet, a facility needs to have a long jump pit, a high jump, pole vault, and shot put area, as well as a banked 200 m track (300 m doesn't need banking). The three Big Sky hosts have been MSU fieldhouse (basketball arena with large floor space), Idaho State's dome, and NAU's dome. http://www.ustfccca....eetno=-36308787 Since an indoor track meet doesn't really need much seating and a 300 m track is actually preferred, UND's IPF might get that meet, but probably not without a lot of travel complaints. Phase 2 probably is needed to provide enough locker room space. None of the ISU, NAU, or MSU locations are actually easy to get to though, and Bozeman's air fares are rather expensive. The Alerus could technically host it too, but doubt they'd want to make an investment in the kinds of equipment and modifications needed. It wouldn't be a major tourist thing except for the hotel rooms the athletes need. In the old days, Hyslop used to host the NCC indoor meet. The 200 m track (or maybe then in yards) used to go under each side of the upper level stands with the retractable bench seating on either side of basketball court and of course the court removed. Until some time in the 70's, Hyslop's floor wasn't even concrete, but dirt.

Agree with what Jones has done. Hadn't really given him much credit in the past, although I still would like to see the team be more coherent offensively. Going into the season, thought we'd make the playoffs, but also thought the adjustment to the Big Sky would take a toll. To be third at this point, with the loss of Traylor, with the loss of Nash, with the injuries to Huff, Brekke, and Schuler is almost unthinkable. Next year, this team should have great depth both in the back court and in the front, giving the opportunity to really push the pace. Hooker needs to play, not redshirt. Too often, in DI, a player is lost to injury and then can't have an medical redshirt like in DII if they redshirted. Play Hooker so he gets four years of play. Hooker needs to be getting experience for the following year, as he needs to be that leader with Anderson, Webb, Schuler, and Huff all gone.

Seems UND would clinch a tournament berth with a win vs EWU or PSU. Of course, getting 3rd is critical, as then on a neutral Montana court we could face Weber, who won't be rested.

He's trying to get as more frequent flyer miles before the end of the winter season?

Did Duperalski (sp) ask Jones if it was a reverse choke?

UND vs NAU - Go support the team at the Betty

The editorial that Tom Miller ran made things all the worse. Bet Faison thought he could cool things down locally, but had no idea how that this would become a national story. Faison (calling): Yeah, Tom!! Like to talk to about the why's on the Ralson suspension story. (thinking, he know's he needs access to me for future stories) Do you have a minute? Miller: Sure. Love to hear it. Faison: Well, Tom this is why we had to take action. ..... blah, blah ..... blah, blah ...... Miller: Makes perfect sense to me. Maybe I'll write a commentary on why this was the right action. The general public just doesn't understand why. Faison: (Thinking, it worked perfectly!!) That would be awesome, Tom. Always so good to talk with you! Call me anytime you have any questions. (thinking: that was brilliant of me!) Not to say that this type talk isn't normal between AD's and beatwriters. Beat writers can be cut off from their sources if they sometimes don't town the AD line. -
If UND hadn't been a member of the Sky, Montana could well have bought us out. The odds greatly increase with ndsu. A lot of Big East schools haven't even finished their schedules het. Imagine if Delaware St gets a buyout.

Here's the lineup: Red River Vs Jamestown *Minot vs Fargo Davies *B Century vs Fargo North Grafton-PR vs Bismarck *With input from iluvdebbies!

http://www.inforum.c...group/homepage/ The man with so much integrity speaks. Boo - hoo. Geno, do really think a lousy $100,000 is going to prevent a buyout when you are paying a ridiculous amount to Delaware St? What's an FBS team going to pay MSU? Montana State held up their end of the contract by paying you $100,000. Wine and bitch all you want, but you signed the stupid contract. If you had a permanent home and home arrangement with a certain school close to you, you wouldn't have to go through all this drama every single year.

UND vs NAU - Go support the team at the Betty
SiouxVolley replied to FSSD's topic in Men's Basketball
Very gracious of you, mtjack. When we played in Flagstaff, the game could have gone either way too. At least we beat Sac St this weekend, who we lost to in Sacramento. Hopefully we get more of our players back. -
That is so cool. Sounds like SMU is offering a bigger payday.

Wow. Must be in some kind of emotional trauma over posters on other boards. BTW, rather trollish manners of a guest that you attack Darrell. Probably get banned for that kind of crap on your own board. Do you ever read Jeff Kolpack's blog? He said NDSU isn't even remotely on the MVC list for programs to add. Why don't you go there and have it out with Kolpack? Of course you'll say SDSU exceeds NDSU in desirablity for the MVC. Stick with that and let's see the bizon fans attack you.. Kind of funny that since NDSU and SDSU fans are supposed to be kissing buddies, that you come here and take it out on us. After all, an enemy of NDSU is an enemy to you too. But guess what, most of the posters here don't give a shite about SDSU. And guess what, if either of SDSU or NDSU get an opportunity to get out of the Summit League with a place for football, either of you would take it, "partnership" be damned. In the end, Gene Taylor and bison fans wouldn't give a crap about what happens to SDSU if it means a better place for Taylor and them. Take it to Kolpack's blog and see who the bison fans are for real.

Thank you for that. Didn't realize that men's tennis would not even give out partials. Is that true for women's tennis too? Looked up Sac St tennis, and sure enough it has mostly international players. Would have thought California would have huge numbers of DI ready tennis players.

impact of new conference on TV broadcast
SiouxVolley replied to Anderson2200's topic in Men's Hockey
Is that in fact been proven to be true? Would UND have the right to be picked up by Fox Sports North, which is the NCHC may view as outside our media footprint as it is based outside our state. Denver, Miami, and W Michigan's regional networks are based in their states. Would UND be able to have a limited contract with Fox Sports North, specifically when playing any Minnesota school at home. Would it be able to have a contract with a Canadian regional network? Those are examples. The elimination of Fox College Sports as an option didn't affect anyone else adversely but UND. We are the only school that gave anything up. Denver / Miami / W Michigan will all get get on satellite by default, with their regional networks (Miami and W Mich supposedly have deals to be announced with Fox Sports Detroit and Fox Sports Ohio) that will allow them to have a national satellite system. The only way to solve it is for MidCo to get available nationally. But really, would Direct TV or Dish TV actually have interest? Other regional networks are filled with MLB, NBS, and NHL and BCS programming. Denver hockey wouldn't get picked up nationally unless it was offered on the backs of Denver pro teams. -

SiouxVolley replied to Anderson2200's topic in Men's Hockey
If UND had made this as a condition of joining the NCHC, CBSSN wouldn't have had a say. Granted, they may pay less to the conference, but with 1/8th share UND would have ,made more. They didn't make it a non-starter for Denver's regional carrier to be in multiple states. Cable in Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, New Mexico, and western parts of Kansas / Nebraska / SD, as well as Colorado have that network. Meanwhile, UND gets apportioned ND, SD, and NW Minnesota with Midco. Big difference there. -
impact of new conference on TV broadcast
SiouxVolley replied to Anderson2200's topic in Men's Hockey
What I don't understand is why UND didn't negotiate some type of TV privileges as a condition of entering the NCHC. After all, the conference needed us. Denver can be on regional networks that cover millions of people in multiple western states and get paid more than Midco could ever pay because of the potential audience. That Denver-based regional sometimes can be picked up on satellite or national cable. Same with Miami and W Michigan. Those two get on regional networks that cover millions of people, which also get picked up by satellite providers well outside their regional network areas. Meanwhile, UND is limited to the Dakota's for regional coverage, when there are tens of thousands of alumni in Minneapolis-St Paul alone as well as thousands in Denver and Phoenix and other cities. In other conferences, the power teams do get exceptions. Guess the NCHC and Faison didn't consider us a power team that was absolutely needed for the NCHC to succeed? We had the leverage for bargaining a special deal, but sounds like we didn't even attempt to get it. Mn-Duluth and St Cloud St could well get better regional deals than we could ever get, not because of their popularity, but because Fox North could well need their programming and have a greater potential audience just with the Cities. UND should at least have had regional rights in the five state Upper Midwest region as well as Western Canada. -
Is Brewster micromanaging these girls? Just seems like he's always yelling for the girls to pass to a specific person, which takes their mind off the game trying to listen to him and be obedient, so they lose any flow in the game. Roebuck did a lot of yelling too, but it seemed more about telling them what mistake they made rather than interfering with their own decisions on passing. Turnovers certainly haven't improved at all this season, so the girls can't be learning within the game situation..

UND's Big Sky performance in women's soccer was not good at all. Same may be ahead in softball. But tennis could be really really bad. UND women's tennis team was swept by both Montana's by identical 7-0 match scores. The Montana schools aren't even that good. Sac St totally dominates tennis in the Big Sky with both genders. Both the men and women on Montana State's teams are largely international students that are rated highly in their own countries, but they still aren't good or deep enough to challenge Sacramento State. It must cost MSU a bunch in scholarship money just to get these international kids. http://www.msubobcats.com/roster.aspx?path=wten The UND women's team was at least established. The men's team is just starting out as the UND's latest varsity sport. How exactly will that work out? Thought it was great to get regional kids a chance in men's tennis, but top Twin City kids may not even get UND competitive in the sport.

Saw on bisoVille that they just want to merge summit and horizon baseball. How in the world would that be allowed? Do they just choose to keep their heads in a dark place?
