Lutheran Social Services is the main sponsor of Somali refugees. Its kind of a racket because the more they sponsor, the more the government funds LSS. They should be sponsoring more Ethiopian and South Sudanese. At least they are Christian and don't want to overthrow the government and have its people submit to Sharia law.

You mean the 19000 plus at Dacotah Field when NDSU was trying to justify a 19000 dome to voters was never true? Someone should have been indicted on voter fraud, not only recently, but 20 years ago.

http://www.strata-x....news140626.html Interesting press release about a shallow well drilled between Linton and Wishek to only 1600 ft. It was drilled for its natural gas potential, but has gas and oil. No word yet if it has commercial quantities yet but drilling that shallow is awfully cheap (and fast). Natural gas can't normally be just put into a pipeline (there are fields in Texas etc than can, but those are unusual), it has to been cleaned of extraneous gases (like nitrogen, H2S, SO2, radon, water, and the heavier carbon species like propane, butane, etc must be removed). More wells are being drilled, so it will be interesting to see if a new hotbed of gas activity starts SE of Bismarck.

They all are pissy about it, but won't say it out loud on the internet where they can be quoted. They'll have to rely on their legions of fans who own mineral rights or have high positions in oil companies to individually donate.
-
NDSU doesn't have the programs the oil industry is interested in: geology, petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, law, and even medicine. The majors NDSU have that are slightly relevant are business and mechanical engineering, but oil companies can one stop shop at UND. For field hands, Williston St and BJC have cornered the market, as I believe they have been granted donations to those programs. Dickinson St and Minot St will see more oil company donations than NDSU.
-
This makes two oil companies with large holdings in ND contributing to UND (Hess and Continental Resources). A bunch still to go: Statoil, Oasis, XTO (Exxon Mobil), Burlington Resources (Conoco), Whiting, Kodiak, and even more smaller ones plus midstream companies like OneOK, Enbridge, TransCanada, Enterprise, Energy Transfer, Kinder Morgan, Williams, Plains All American. Doubt NDSU will see a drop of corporate oil funds.

Someone like you gets all offended by anyone but Lynn Dorn slamming Gene, don't you Pat. As an official of NDSUs athletic department, isn't it highly unprofessional of you to be trolling on a UND sports site?

Here's a Business Week article on Williston's Rec Center. They are comparing it to Opera Houses in Oslo or Reykjavik. http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2014-06-18/a-70-million-rec-center-brings-indoor-surfing-golf-to-north-dakota

Watford City is getting a new high school, along with a new rec center. The Rec Center has two hockey rinks along with a 3000 person venue and pool. It may not be too long before Watford City has HS varsity hockey: it Jr Gold level now. http://www.startribune.com/blogs/264037101.html

UND is probably the #2 seed in the tournament, so there's no guarantee that the play Utah unless both win. The WAC has go to be hurting for games. Get Chicago St, UMKC, Grand Canyon, Utah Valley and Seattle for a home and home over two years. Other than that, maybe a couple Summit and Horizon teams will come to Grand Forks. Hard to get MVC, WCC, Big West and MAC teams. East Coast and Southern teams don't want to travel that far unless its a recruiting area.

Twin sons of different mothers? ASSistant to the Regional Manager ... Deputy ASSistant to the Iowa AD Both cut their teeth on a beet farm/livestock operation Both are genius level legal minds in the own mind Both know the intricacies of trans specie sex Both are attracted to Amazon women Both think they have mastered the art of revenge Both have legions of internet fans on Bisonville Both are quoted as saying: "Haven't they suffered enough?" What other coincidences do they share?

Lincoln intended it to pertain to the horses, too.

Middle Tennessee must have pulled out of the tournament at the Betty. It's unusual to play USD and Tulane twice in a 3 team tournament.

I post as NoDak on CSNbbs. I believe the Big Sky will sponsor FCS and FBS eventually. There's no rule that a conference can't sponsor FBS and FCS at the same time. The other schools they have an interest in are NDSU, SDSU, USD, and likely NMSU. Fullerton said they are monitoring certain schools for additions. NDSU's AD just resigned to go to Iowa, because he see's the writing on the wall IMO. The only way NDSU can go FBS is if they join the Big Sky and join UND, and Gene Taylor wants no part of that. He'll have no choice in the matter, so he chose a lateral move as a deputy assistant AD, like Barney Fife and Dwight Shrute. It was my understanding the a BIg Sky FBS would have a share of the $90 million. The playoff system will expand to 8 teams further down the road and the pot will only get bigger.

Sayler came from USD. Their new BB arena, which is needed for a Di school with only one real facility, is badly needed. Idaho St, S Utah, N Col, and maybe Weber St and NAU would be hard pressed to go FBS. Cal Poly, UCDavis, Sac St, Portland St and the Montanas always had FBS in their long term plans, but 2012 was just too early to move up as all of them had major facility issues.
-
He was a certain 2nd rounder, could have gone late in the 1st, according to Bisonville's draft assessment during the season.
-
And a 16 seed gave the #1 seed a game. That's more than could be said when NDSU played San Diego St.

It doesn't matter what the MAC thinks, as they've got no power other than what the Big 10 grants. If you look back on this thread, its all about a deal between Idaho and the Sun Belt and the rest of the Big Sky. When the WAC was dying, what the WAC could have done could have killed or weakened the Sun Belt (the WAC offering the MVC + Ark St + Texas St + LaLa a new FBS league status, or the WAC offering every tom, dick and harry FCS team in the south FBS status). The Sun Belt chose to give Idaho and NMSU affiliate status in return for later granting FBS status to the Big Sky. The Big Sky wasn't ready to start FBS with the WAC: it needed to wait. The Sun Belt was granted a reprieve by absorbing NMSU and Idaho and so was the Big Sky by waiting. Idaho gets what it wanted: a regional FBS league, but later. Everybody is happy but the MWC, MAC, CUSA, and AAC. The Sun Belt has the right to grant Big Sky teams FBS status. Take it up with the Sun Belt. They will grant Idaho and the Big Sky FBS status, in return for the WAC not screwing with them. Other FCS leagues are not going FBS, so don't worry about it.

http://seekingalpha....ly-a-lot-bigger Interesting talk about the Bakken getting bigger. The Three Forks is Divide and Burke Counties, as well as in Saskatchewan (called Torquay there) may be gaining a lot of attention. The middle Bakken in Divide and Burke is rather marginal economically, but the Three Forks may be huge there. The middle Bakken in Saskatchewan is productive only because it is cheaper to drill at only about 3000 ft rather than 10,000 ft around Williston. The Three Forks can change to whole equation in northern counties, NE Montana, and SE Saskatchewan. A couple months ago, saw figures that predicted 140,000 wells and Williston with 150,000 people. Those could easily be larger if this is proven out. Crosby could be like Watford City, growing to 20,000 people.

#MACtion: Is Miami planning to sponsor a women's team as a varsity sport? I noticed Miami has a top rated club women's hockey team, but sponsors synchronized skating at a women's varsity sport. For a lowly FCS team, UND is building a indoor practice facility that would be on par with FBS' Miami. http://www.muredhawks.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=209333580

I'm pretty sure UND athletics if it included the REA budget would easily be the larger than any in the MAC. UND ticket sales only include Champion Club seat licenses, not ticket sales. REA sells all UND sports tickets and they are a separate "non profit" entity whose profit feeds UND athletics. The REA has to pay administration, ushers, utilities, etcs, but gets ticket sales, concessions, suites, parking, arena advertising. Hockey alone has to be more than $5 million in tickets (250,000 per games x 20 games). Add in concerts and such, the budget for the REA is probably at least $8 mill, with 1 or 1.5 mill turned over to UND. Any way you slice it, UND has a huge budget for FCS when the REA is included. If Miami is at $28 mill, UND is more with the REA.

The PAC12 is not forbidding their schools from playing FCS ones. Utah and Washington have upcoming games against UND, so unless the Big Sky moves to FBS, UND will be FCS when they play. The PAC12 needs a scheduling conference like the Big 10 has with the MAC, so the PAC12 will support a Big Sky move to FBS. I've never stated that the Big Sky will be "equal" to the MWC, any more that I stated the MAC is equal to the Big 10. What is true is that the Big 10 will protect the MAC's FBS status because the Big 10 needs MAC schools as their 7th home games. The Big 10 would have never proposed dropping FCS schools from the schedule, because the MAC serves as a high FCS conference when it is an FBS conference in name. No Ill will leave the MAC for a better conference as soon as it gets a chance (it left before and it will leave again like Marshall). I am in no way slamming the MAC and have a high degree of respect for Miami's football history as the cradle of coaches. But many of the schools in the MAC (Ball St, Bowling Green, EMU, Kent St) will be for the forseeable future just placeholders for Big 10 games and are just shells of their past. North Dakota will soon be the per capita national leader in income and will gain a lot of people and academic wealth. UCF, USF,UTSA, Charlotte, et al will not forbidden to move to FBS, and that will be true to UND and the Big Sky. The NCAA behaves to accommodate wealth: thirty years ago North Dakota was a backwater state and now its at the forefront of change.
-
Of course the MWC wouldn't want an FBS Big Sky. But a PAC12 would love to see a Big Sky FBS conference for the same reason the Big10 has formalized a scheduling agreement with the MAC. The Big10 needs to MAC to provide 7th home games. The PAC12 needs a league that it can get home FBS games routinely. If the MAC wasn't in the Big 10 footprint, the Big 10 never would have proposed banning FBS/FCS games. The MAC serves as a little brother to the Big10 and the PAC12 needs its own little brother for scheduling. The MWC and AAC don't provide scheduling services at the prices the SEC/ACC/Big12/Pac12 want, so the PAC12 views the MWC more as an irritant.

Bulk Truck reminds me of Bill Kiefer and 100 starving and dead horses. Can't even take charge of his own affairs, but he insists we foolow him. I will leave it at that.

Do see FGCU starting hockey? I know when they moved up to DI, there was talk. An arena is ;pretty close to campus so its doable, but would the WCHA take them?
