  1. Sorry Utes . As you can tell, our assortment of bison trolls are on pins and needles about their boughten win vs Mississippi Valley St. Only if Jerry Rice suits up for them would they not tune into the Ute-UND game.
  2. Didn't know this poll existed. In the undsports writeup, Pryor mentioned that he's a voter but didn't vote due to the travel schedule. Surprised the Big East teams are mid-majors, but hoping we can be on this poll for years to come. Liked what Pryor said about the team not playing a complete match yet, as there is still massive upside. With UNLV, NMSU and UNM receiving votes, this will be a tough weekend and we need a couple wins against those schools.
  3. Well just hoping Utah will mistakes us for NDSU's soccer team, which got wiped by Utah 9-0.
  4. Guess it will need to be NMSU then. UTEP was swept by Montana, which has had atrocious vball.
  5. Hope we played Ga Tech as part of a deal to bring them to Grand Forks next year as well as UTEP or NMSU. Ga Tech, Iowa St, and UTEP would make for an awesome tournament. The Jackets coach said they have improved every match. http://www.wramblinwreck.com/sports/w-volley/recaps/082717aac.html
  6. The SEC has national power teams, like Florida, Tex A&M, Mizzou, and Kentucky, but mostly the schools hardly put emphasis on volleyball. Ole Miss was voted 12th out of 13th in the preseason poll (Vandy doesn't have vb), and was celebrating opening their refurbished Gillom gymnasium specially for volleyball before 500 people. Still say that UND will have a place among power vball schools eventually - at least the status of Wichita St and UNI in the sport. The Georgia Tech game will likely be the toughest game in the next week. UNLV lost a lot to transfers ( one of Ole Miss's stars transferred from UNLV) and was picked ahead of New Mexico near the bottom of the MWC. Youngstown St was picked 9th in the Horizon. UTEP was picked 8th in CUSA ( La Tech was picked 12th). NMSU was picked 1st in the WAC but that league is weak in vball.
  7. Las Cruces where New Mexico St is, is in the the same metro region as El Paso. It's like bussing from Crookston to Grand Forks.
  8. The Herald reported that they are bussing in to Atlanta - that's a long drive. Just getting settled in now.
  9. Mich St was a top 20 rpi last year and beat both Furman and Auburn. The first weekend teams are getting their systems in order. At least Ga Tech won't be rested. UND probably is flying in tonight from tupelo, ms.
  10. Florida a&m is in Fargo next weekend. Will be interesting to see how they do.
  11. Mary doesn't have many technical degrees, which often have prerequisites and courseS are only offered once a year. Some business and liberal arts degrees can be done with a 2.5 year plan with summer school, but other degrees are nearly impossible in that timeframe except at very large enrollment schools.
  12. Seems like the blocking and offense are mostly fine, but the defense is suffering some. Fraase is not the libero, as Brekke is. Dooley, Vail, Merseli and of course Griffin stay out for their entire rotation.
  13. Ga Tech has lost to Furman and Auburn, a relatively poor SEC team. Furman had an RPI in the 200's last year and Auburn was around 150. Ga Tech appears to have lost a lot. Then again, LA Tech has performed better than expected even though they lost to UND.
  14. Nice of Fraase to come through with a service ace for the win. They were down so many times in overtime in the 4th and 5th sets and they hung in there. An SEC win is always great for an RPI boost. FAMU and La Tech shouldn't be much of a problem unless they have improved tremendously from last year, but Ga Tech will be a major problem on Sunday,
  15. Don't know for sure, but Ole Miss probably promised a h/h with UND if she signed with them. Texas A&M played a h/h with UND as a favor to a Manitoba gal.
  16. UND holds on in the 4th set, 30-28.
  17. UND wins the third set by 25-14. UND has been out blocking them the whole game, but this set out hit them. Julie K appears to be the star on the stat sheet.
  18. Ole Miss takes 2nd set 25-20. Thought UND would handle them, but it appears not.
  19. The hitting % has been better in the second set, but now behind 21-19. Emily Stroup from Fargo for Ole Miss is getting a bunch of kills.
  20. UND loses first set 25-16. Hitting % from Dooley and Merseli has been bad.
  21. UND beats the Mocs in three sets, 25-20, 25-22, 25-15.
  22. UND leads 2-0 against Chatty. Can follow the progress with statsbroadcast.com, which has a link via a UNDVb tweet
  23. http://www.beauregarddailynews.net/news/20170824/la-tech-volleyball-set-to-open-season-at-rebel-invitational At the Rebel Invitational, these are last year's RPIs: UND 92 Ole Miss 95 Chatty 150 F A&M U 205 La Tech 255 For Sundays match in Atlanta, GA Tech had an RPI of 49 last year.
  24. Feel free to march into the AFA AD's office and demand that the hockey team move the the WCHA. You would be without a job so you can police here more effectively. Wasn't at all refering to the level of play but the WCHA being full of DII schools, which AFA and Ariz St want so badly wants to associate with.
  25. Air Force wants games against the other academies, so if Navy starts hockey Air Force will be with them. AFA has lax too, but plays in the Southern Conference because the Patriot League has nine lax teams. Air travel doesn't seem to be a problem that AFA worries about and like Arizona St, it doesn't see the WCHA worthy of having them.
