  1. UPDATE: Another response: We will present to Dish and DirectTV for fall 2013, but I have to admit it’s a bit of a long shot! I've already contacted DirecTV even though I'm a Midco cable customer (I sometimes watch at my parents house in rural ND), and I suggest that all of you who watch on satellite do the same. The more they hear about Midco Sports Network, the better. What we really need is a UND grad in the marketing department at DirecTV!
  2. I can see it both ways: redshirt him to 'save' his eligibility for after next year's seniors are gone. But next years seniors are a good group, and Hooker deserves a chance to play with them. It seems like you can't have a bench too deep.
  3. Also, wouldn't SUU own the tiebreak over UND based on head-to-head?
  4. Just for the heck of it, I went to Midcontinent's website and asked this: Is Midcontinent pursuing to get the Midco Sports Network available on more cable and/or satellite systems throughout the country? Their response: Midco Sports Network will be available for cable systems in the region to pick up starting in August 2013. We suggest that you contact your cable or satellite provider and voice your support of Midco Sports Net. Our website should have updates beginning in August.
  5. Fr From what I understand from reading about this subject - Conference games only. When UND plays a non-conference game at home, it can be broadcast nationally. At this point, I don't know what network would do that since the contract with Fox College Sports will be expired. Something for the Athletic Department to work on, I guess. BTW, telecasts of other sports can be broadcast nationally, if a network to do so can be found. It really is too bad about the FCS deal, but maybe UND broadcasts didn't help their bottom line much. There must be some reason they wanted out.
  6. One of the problems that building a huge arena for hockey caused was a downturn in attendance for nearly everything else - not just UND sports, but Chester Fritz, etc. Now so many people can watch hockey in person, they either can't afford or choose not to attend other events that maybe they were accustomed to attending before 2001. On the other hand, it's been a while since there was much to cheer for besides the hockey team. I know it's been said a million times, but once the other sports put a product out that is worth watching, people will watch. Volleyball is a good example of that, as attendance has gone way up since Hardee has been here.
  7. Call me an optimist, but I think 4-2 (maybe even 5-1) to close out the season of Big Sky play is achievable. That would put our league record at 11-9 (or possibly 12-8, which sounds WAY better than 11-9 for some reason), and secure the #3 seed in the Big Sky tourney. I see us playing the Big Sky semi-final, which I would consider to be a succesful first year in the league. Anything beyond that would be a bonus, for sure.
  8. The state legislature got involved with the nickname issue (something that many of us wished never would have happened) in 2011. Becuase it was so controversial, when the the law requiring the name to stay was eventually repealed (and then re-instated, and then eventually voted out) part of the repeal was that the University let the issue of a new nickname rest untili 2015, a sort of cooling off period. The NCAA doesn't care if we have a nickname or not, so long as it is not Indian related. Since we can't have "Sioux" (or I should say, we risk our atheletic competetiveness with it), I think most fans are comfortable without a nickname right now.
  9. Excellent chance to create separation this week with Sac. St and N. Arizona at home. We've still got our eyes on you, S. Utah!
  10. I will be there! Hopefully some hockey fans in town for the Wisco series will show some love for the hoops.
  11. I was trying to find this online but I couldn't. Does someone have a list of the all-time leading scorers in UND men's BB history? Even just the top scorer (and his points) would be helpful. Thanks.
  12. I plan on being there tonight, and hope to see a shooting performance like last Saturday.
  13. Hopefully not too far off-topic, but I wanted to pose the question: By the time Joe Mollberg is a senior, where you do you see the UND football team? What would be considered a success, and what would be considered a failure?
  14. I don't remember Webb struggling at FT line before, but this year he has been completely awful, and cost us a couple games. Anyone know his FT stat from Freshman and Sophomore years?
  15. It wouldn't be beyond the realm of possibility...FCS picked up at least one of the volleyball games televised by Midco.
  16. Actually, @Idaho St. is our third conference game (Jan. 3), and @Weber St. is after that (Jan. 5). Montana is our next home conference game (Jan. 10)
  17. Exactly. That's why we don't need to go to best-of-three at home sights. Keep the format the same (16-team, single elimination), but let the #1 seeds host. Attendance would sky rocket, and more than likely you'd have the best four teams at the Frozen Four.
  18. Totally agree with everything you said. I wrote the same thing (before I read this) over on Schlossman's blog.
  19. Anybody know the real reason why Crown and Presentation are on our schedule? We're they scheduled before we had assured conference affiliation (i.e. before June 12)? We shouldn't have to put up with this next year (or any other year in the future), right?
  20. Well, I was hoping ONE, really ANY ONE, of the early season games would be a nice road win for the team and get people pumped up for the Big Sky conference schedule.
  21. Because UND has a TV contract, so the ones played in Grand Forks were televised. The Sioux-Bison men's game next week is televised from Fargo, though it wasn't part of the UND package released at the beginning of the year. MidCo must have realized it would be a good programming decision. I wonder who the announcers will be?
  22. According to the article, she is a setter. Hardee must have her tagged as the setter of the future after Nikki Husheldt graduates (Griffin will be a freshman when Husfeldt is a senior).
  23. Coach Muss' hometown Owatonna (MN) Huskies are playing for the state championship today. Possibly some recruiting avenues there.
  24. I wonder if some of the girls won't be with the team next year. Hardee is already playing two freshmen every game (McKenzie Hart, and Lauren Clarke), while some sophomores are hardly played, if ever (Kim Kuechle, Kyle Evert, Emily Asche). Naomi Dahl was red-shirted, and now in her second year has hardly played. When other schools come in, their rosters are significantly shorter than ours, so it gets me wondering why we have so many girls - I guess we have enough for two teams in practice.
  25. I knew the SDSU game would be on Midco (both USD and SDSU have Midco TV deals as well), but not about the NDSU game. How'd you find that out?
