Lots of blame to go around tonight - offense, defense, players, coaches, quarterback, receivers, etc. My biggest fear of this game came true - underwhelm your biggest home crowd of the season. This program sure knows how to kill momentum. It will take several games to get this one back, if it even can happen this season.

Glad they won't have that "what if" to think about later.
-
"Win this down," as one poster mentioned somewhere.
-
"Hey guys, watch this!" - Nate Ketteringham on the deep ball to Izzy.
-
You stole my score! I'll go 34-14. 4 TD's (one attributed directly to defense, either by scoring, or setting up good field position), and 2 FGs. Need to get that kicker some Alerus confidence. Idaho State gets by Schmidt's defense twice, but never drives close enough for field goals.

There is definitely some fan energy, and the program NEEEEEDS to capitalize on it; something they've failed to do in the past. (2015 vs. Drake, 2016 playoff vs. Richmond are ones that come to mind). A convincing win (two touchdowns, at least) over Idaho State will be needed to keep the train rolling.

I was thinking the same thing.

Midco produces a weeknight show called "Midco Sports Tonight" that discusses topics that Midco covers; essentially Midco's version of Sportscenter, but solely focused on their broadcast rights. It airs at 6:30 pm. On Monday night (first show following Saturdays football games), UND beating Sam Houston State was the top story.

I had to confirm those attendance numbers for myself, because I remember the place being a lot fuller. Hopefully the tournament will be in Grand Forks this year! Hosting the tournament is a really fun experience.
-
I'm glad you brought this up. I've been wondering how the Summit League chooses its volleyball tournament host - is it regular season champion?
-
Exactly. Happened after the Wyoming win in 2015. Came home with a puffed out chest, but left the Alerus with tails between legs after just squeaking by Drake.
-
I guess a stop on 4th & short technically is a turnover.
-
Game winning touchdown drive late in the 4th quarter. Check.
-
Absolutely! I’m already at peace with what happens in tomorrow’s Vikes-Pack game.
-
Yes!!! Biggest win in the Bubba era, IMO - bigger than Wyoming. Season and program defining win.

Hopeful prediction: UND 31-28 Realistic prediction: SHSU 35-21 I’m not saying they can’t do it (see hopeful prediction), but playing a ranked, perennial playoff team on the road would be a major feat for an unproven team (see realistic prediction). For the sake of the season and current state of the program, a win today would go a looooooooong ways.

Volleyball girls split a pair of games in Jacksonville, FL yesterday and today.
-
Lost both games today 3-0. Sounds like some of the sets were competitive, but some weren’t.

Hey didn't mean to offend anybody. I'm a legitimate UND fan through and through, and not a troll. What I meant by meaningless is that it doesn't hurt them if they lose the game. It does hurt them if they lose to an FCS team later, whether it be regular season or playoffs, because an opponent was able to learn a little too much about UND through watching film of this game, which is why I don't think we'll see anything too flashy. I love reading the comments, and occasionally chime in, but football is not my forte, so I mainly just read. I've learned a lot about the game, though, by following these threads.

While it would be interesting to see how imaginative a play-caller would have to be to truly take on a top-10 FBS team with the expectation of winning, or at least playing close, I can't imagine UND (Rudolph, in particular) would show very many cards offensively in a game that essentially meaningless. Need to save those for games that really matter. Don't get injured, don't get embarrassed, bring home the paycheck, and use the money wisely.

Iowa state and Texas a&m have both played at the Betty in late August in years past, so we take good competition if we can get it.
-
Was not at the game this afternoon, but I noticed both teams we've played (EWU and WCU) have winning records. They must have played some pretty crappy teams, because they were basically pushovers for UND.

Pretty much the exact assessment that everyone on here was making.

453 according to posted box score.
