2020-21 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

This year’s class is beyond loaded...with the team we already have this year could be very special. Haven’t been this high on a sioux team in a very long time. -

Sure, but he went to Shattuck In all seriousness, kunz probably needs a year of juniors. If I were him I’d go the BC route. I just worry about these guys who get drafted then play another year of juniors. You risk losing them a year early if they pan out. -

Oh sure....completely forgot about him. He'll be coming in for sure unless the offer is pulled for some reason. Another one is Halliday and/or Kunz....both are getting draft this year. I could see Kunz taking the slow approach (which is probably good for him). -

I do agree that they could just put Rieger in as a F, however....man is there little wiggle room for playing time. I mean, unless he improves quite a bit, Bast may not be in the lineup and I really like him (I feel as though he was hurt all year last year). Frisch is going to have trouble getting in the lineup. Good problem to have I guess. Young core but over the top talent wise. JBD-Kiersted Sanderson-Bast Kleven-Miller Frisch-Moore -
First time taking a look at this thread. Whoa!
-
Has he aged out? Maybe. Youre right overagers rarely get picked but every once in awhile they go. Ladue, Poolman, etc all got drafted in their last year of eligibility. You could be right though not sure if gaber has aged out.
-
Riese Gaber USHL Player of the Year and Forward of the year. He's going to get drafted I'm sure as an overager.
-
Mitchell Miller and Riese Gaber both All-USHL First Team selections.

I don't believe so. I have a buddy who works in insurance and he noted many companies are not setup appropriately for this. I would assume that would include other organizations as well. -

UConn AD was quoted as saying he would be shocked if there were Fall sports. The big thing folks forget is the NCAA is afraid of lawsuits (I guess as they should be). Putting students in harms way? That spells a lawsuit to me...I obviously want everything back to normal however if there is one organization willing to string things out...it's the NCAA. I feel like it will be the last to come back. -
Agreed....that makes more sense now. And the answer is no.

The big knock on him were the d zone turnovers...but at least two other dmen made as many or more than he did. He also was 4th in pt/gm for the d core...as an underclassmen and having the shortest of leashes. +\- was solid too considering he played less games than all other dmen. ok I’m done...off this topic
-
To me, he would have been in next year’s lineup hands down. I think the issue for him would have been the type of role. He plays more of a top 4/pp role. He may have had a tough time getting top 4/pp minutes...although I would have slotted him in at 4 to start the year. I think there may have been more to the whole situation.

I’ve heard Ness has a super motor and is tough to play against. Pt/gm in the ushl and you got an every nighter. -
Good for him...I would have chosen UMD but hey. He needs to play.

I like that lineup. Only change is I’d give caulfied a chance on the second to start the year. He played good there in flashes last year. Also, you have to make the freshman earn it (unless they’re a super high pick like Sanderson). Where’s Budy? Whoa...next years team is loaded. -

In Minnesota June’s are held back almost exclusively at my sons age. -

I wouldn’t be shocked to see him play top 6 on this team next year. Maybe not right away though. He had his flashes last year but was buried a bit. Year 3, could be a breakout for him. These guys are all still developing, you never know when a player can leapfrog someone else. -
He's an elite skater/puck possessor. By far and away the best player on UMD. Did I think Guch had a chance...sure. Was I shocked it was Scotty.....no. Easily the best player in college hockey last year so it is only fitting he gets the award. Now some of his questionable actions/behaviors....I thought Guch could have sniped it away from him.

Weird...wonder why he would have left before last year??? As opposed to play another year of juniors. He was an undrafted true freshman, basically unheard of. -
What I’m saying is the player has the option to become a free agent 4 years after their draft year, so teams risk losing the player. So typically teams go all in on signing their players, at the latest, after the 4th year after the players draft year. Unless the player hasn’t developed which is obviously less of a risk.

If miller AND Moore come in next year they’ll push Frisch/Bast hard. Also, what if miller gets drafted before kleven? -

Again, if miller goes by the end of the third he’ll be playing college hockey. -
Probably...but he was drafted last year. NHL team only have two years of watching him play college puck seems odd. If he’s not here, he’s somewhere else (hopefully I’m wrong).
