  1. AA: 12-14-2 in the WCHA 16-18-3 overall

MN: 13-10-5 in the WCHA 16-14-6 overall

I recall that season and lots of local media were predicting Seawolves in the upset.

Ok...you made my point. That record is average in terms of the talent (on paper). Can't always win them all but if I was betting I would take the goofs over AA any day. Lets get real.

  2. Clark had already committed to the transfer back at mid season "11-12"

Dell didn't really make a call untill after the Montreal prospects camp this past summer...

Which was surprising a bit because after the Habs cooled on him and the options kinda shrunk you would have thought maybe coming back for senior year may not really been that bad of an option....

Can't see leaving school for CHL $$$...it was obviously a complex situation.

Agreed....I guarentee the coaches told him he could have some strong competition. Because Dell was an average goalie at best... he had a great team in front of him though. I don't dislike Dell at all, however I simply think UND had better options going into this season.

  3. That was 2011 and AA was an 8 and Minnesota was a 5. Hardly a monumental upset as Minnesota was mediocre at best that season.

You suggested a wave of 11 and 12 teams at the Final Five in the past five years which is absolutely not true. I am not saying that 11's and 12's have no shot at all but your statement was dead wrong.

You go ahead and measure your own duck...I'll pass.

Haha....their record was mediocre but the talent on that team was 10x that of Alaska's. The goofs were simply dysfuncional....any odds maker has the goofs in a landslide.

  4. Guess I didn't think that through quite enough. Just remember Luke playing for Red River in 8th and Central in 9th and 10th. Forgot this would be his Senior season. Also Jake Marto verballed before he played Juniors, but then played a few years after his Senior season, but I believe there was some competition from Duluth and Minnesota that was in play there. Don't remember if Irmen and Potulny verballed before Junior hockey either. But you are right, many of those guys had more of an elite status at the time. Will be interesting to see how Benson does in Dubuque next season. A lot of people think that John Lizotte has some upside because of his size and skill. We will see how it all plays out.

Potulny and Irmen committed during juniors. You are correct, all those other players played very well during elite/national tournaments. Benson is a junior...and having a great season, but at his age both Potulny and Johnson were averaging a point per game in the USHL on very good teams.

  5. hope the POS is a flop in the show.

OK now....there is no reason this kid should have went to college in the first place. He would have had one foot out the door the whole season. He logged 4:35 on the PP for the Rangers last night in his first game. Yes, it sucks that he backed out and I was pissed last year too. But after the decent season we had and seeing JT going on to have a good amount of success in the pro game...I'm glad we were his first choice IF he was to go to school instead of Canada.

  6. I wasn't calling UND fans petty. I was replying to ONE person saying their attitude seemed petty towads Miller. And yes he did leave UND in a bad spot but I think the coaching staff deserves some blame as well for recruiting someone who was by all accounts not ever close to being 100% committed to playing college hockey. Maybe they should have had a better back-up plan?

I didn't read the start of this conversation but I'm guessing they did have a back up plan. And by all accounts, they made it pretty far in the playoffs with a shorthanded team.

  7. Via Jacob Benson on twitter

I'm shocked that SCSU gave him an offer this early. I like Benson a lot and he has been a beast so far in ND high school, but his stats at MN elite were quite low, I'm guessing UND didn't recruit him too much. We'll see, he could have had a bad fall. I could be wrong but I believe a lot of my (and my brothers) old hockey stuff got shipped to him when he was real young. I wish him good luck and will root for him.

  8. Wow I'm glad I'm glad some of you got your scrum fix but seriously check out an NHL game. This, again, is a huge let down in another full blown uninspired game. A tie in a home game is so close to a loss. We're in February and we cannot find a way to win on home ice. This, so far, has been one of the most difficult seasons to watch given the amount of talent on the team. I'm definitely not calling for Hak to lose his job but he has done a terrible job this year. Sorry for being the pessimist but just calling out the obvious.

  9. Frattin just scored again to put the Leafs up 3-2.....so he has 6 pts in 4 games and he plays less than most players on his team. Is it me or is he the most productive player on that team? I believe Carlyle needs to put him in the top 6 and five him some PP time.

  10. I think this is a very valid question. I will admit that I thought hiring Berry would be a good move. I'm not ready to pull the pin yet, but to make a coaching change would imply that something was wrong with the way things were going in the past. I just don't know that things were all that bad on the ice the past few years warranting this type of change. To see the product on the ice regress from a season ago is quite shocking, and the change should not be above scrutiny.

Especially since we have an older team and much of last year's team is back. Also, the addition of Rocco, Schmaltz (1st rounder), and Gothberg (5th rounder I believe and had a great Bruins development camp) should have also been a positive. Something is definitely not right, they are turning it on late that's for sure.

    Should find your info here!

Pretty cool. I believe this is basketball correct? My relatives played for Hannah back in the day.

  12. Now that Eades is gone, none of our "true"coaching staff have won a national title as player or coach (I know Goerhing has one, but is he even paid?)...this is highly unusual for a program of our caliber.

    Go around the horn...

Winning is an attitude and a swagger. No rings in the locker room with the exception of the 30 year old goalie coach is not cool

They haven't won the big dance but they have been highly competitive (except for the past 2-3 weeks) and very fun to watch. Just be glad that our home town has a highly competitve team to root for...that we can be proud of. Don't get greedy.
