  1. Better to go to Europe than the AHL. Money is a lot better. All those goals though? Makes you wonder was he being used wrong for 4 years at UND?

    Not when he's this young....once you go overseas, the chance you get an NHL look is almost 0%. Please no "Mario is not NHL material" comments because I know this, but you never know. The NHL is a different type of game, sometime grinders get a 3rd/4th line look. I would say stick it out and attempt to get an AHL call-up. Go to Europe when your older. The "money is a lot better" is only for older players, it is not the same for younger players.

  2. @UNDMHockey: UND lineup (1/3): Grimaldi-Knight-Kristo | Caggiula-Rowney-Parks | Mi. MacMillan-Ma. MacMillan-Gaarder | Rodwell-Pattyn-St. Clair

    @UNDMHockey: UND lineup (2/3): MacWilliam-Simpson | Forbort-Schmaltz | Mattson-Gleason | Goalies: Saunders-Gothberg-Maris

    @UNDMHockey: Out: Senkbeil, O'Donnell, Panzarella, Sanderson, Chyzyk | Referees: Todd Anderson, Brad Shepherd | Linesmen: Andy Dokken, Justin Hills

    Why does Mi. Mac get PT? I am not a huge O'Donnell fan but throw that guy in there on that line....or Chyzyk.

  3. As much as DU has become a bitter rival, UM is a bigger one. Plus, we are behind them in the standings.

    DU sweep would be wonderful and St. Clown getting swept would put us in first place. Man that'd be sweet :bigsmile:. Let's be more realistic though. Hopefully DU can get a split, same with Tech vs. St. Cloud... that'd put us in 2nd place with the sweep we are GONNA GET just down one point for the MacNaughton Cup with one weekend to go. I'd definitely take that.

    Agreed.

  4. I agree here. They are losing the most physical defenseman they have and not bringing in one as a replacement (see video linked above on Crisfield stating the current plan is to play another year of juniors). That leaves Forbert as the most physical (assuming he stays AND Panzarella is given limited playing time), and he isn't that physical. I think the D-core will be dangerous in their offensive zone next year, but UND may get a whole lot easier to play against in the D-zone. After the 2013-2014 season it looks like a better mix of bigger, more physical defensive d-men and those more offensive minded. I am expected a long learning curve on the D side of the puck next year and UND may have to go through some growing pains. Offensively, I think there is more than enough talent currently on the roster and coming in. I think UND sees a more even scoring distribution next year (with the exception of Grimaldi leading by a large margin), but they will still manage to put up a decent goals per game average.

    I think Schmaltz, Mattson and Simpon (Dillan has been their best D man this year) will make significant strides next year as well. Their D core will be just fine. Let those young guys fill out even more.
