  1. On the 3rd line, it's tough to know who to put on the wings with Mark Mac. Mitch has been so so at best. OD has played below that. I'd like to see Chyzyk get a shot this weekend on that line. He has size, skates well and has shown IMO better offensive skill than Mitch, OD or Connor. He was somewhat productive up thru the Notre Dame series. Mark, Bryn with OD, Mitch or Connor might click.

4th line was in beast mode with Jim, Rodwell and the General until last weekend. Hope those 3 are back together.

Mitch has been below average...couple pipes and a goal but he looks lost. As for Mark...he's such a good player, he needs to play with parks and Rowney....end of story. Let them gel before the tourney. We'll make quick work of the next four games anyway.

  2. I don't want to start any big arguments here but if you were the coach, which goalie would you have started tonight and why?

Gothberg....although he looked shaky last night. Clarke didn't look much better. I honestly could care less who they start. Tonight is a must win.

  3. After thinking the night over, I have a sneaky hunch this team will play a great game tonight. If losing like this doesn't motivate the team, I don't know what will. Goal tending was iffy at best and that is what killed this game. I have a feeling they have a solid game behind Saunders tonight and will 4-5 in a row.

Goaltending was terrible....but the team in front of them gave up 40+ shots I believe....don't forget to mention that.

  4. I was at this game. HoFam lost 7-1. It was clear they were going to lose halfway through the first period. EP looked GOOOOOOD. Really cocky, but good. Best team I've seen play this year, but I hear they are a bit Jekyll and Hyde, so.

Now we see what Gersich's next move is.

I was also at the game....HF did not look very good last night. EP is good but HF made many mistakes (including Gersich himself). I have seen him play twice now (Wayz. & EP) and here are my takeaways: Extremely good skater, his skating ability is probably better than any high school kid in the country....honestly. He also plays more physical than I originally thought, he laid out a bunch of guys last night. Some things he must improve on are his stickhandling, playmaking, and decision making. I know EP was much deeper than HF, but I believe Gersich was -3 after the first period. All in all, I'm glad he chose UND now he has to go play juniors. In looking at his stats, he does much of his damage against extremely weak competition. But I guess anyone would.

  5. what 8-9-1 isn't going to cut it? :D that being said when it is all said and done I think msum will end up being a 3-4 seed, minny will be a one seed, und will be a two and scsu will be a two as well and denver a three. I've said it before I would love to end up being an 8 seed paired up in qu's bracket.

I would too....but I would rather have have a 1/2 seed and get that first win.

  6. Well, L. Johnson started off the year slow however I thought he was going to turn it on for the second half. He heated up a little bit but now is in a super slump. Unfortunately I think he may have a terrible draft year.

  7. They hand out majors for any serious hits like they hand out candy at Halloween right now. It's not just checking from behind either. With all the attention concussions are getting, they definitely focus on the high hits. I've seen it plenty the last two seasons at the HS games I have been to.

He's going to need to deal with it because it's not going to get any easier. Opponents won't be coddling him in the USHL or college. If his reason for leaving HS was because of the physical stuff he faces now, he is in for a rude awakening in the coming years.

I do not believe he is leaving because of the physical aspect of high school hockey..hahaha. Yes he's been the target of some cheap shots...but that is simply because of how much press he gets. Once he is in the USHL there are players on every team with that much press. I didn't see how this debate started but it isn't a good one.

  8. He can handle it - tough kid. AIso, I don't think Omaha took him 1st overall for him to play high school hockey either.

Agreed. High school is fun but I've seen some pretty talented kids stunt their development by "wanting to play with the friends".

  9. As I said... :)

Sorry I don't read every post. Anyway, Shane is roughed up a tad....but I'm guessing he can handle it. If he doesn't bounce after this year it will be a mistake. He has to play in the USHL next year....he has accomplished everything a high schooler can (no way HF will win state in the next year or so).

  10. This is a first for me. A kid leaving high school hockey because it is too rough for him? I almost spit up my breakfast laughing at that. High school hockey has actually been wimped down in the last year ever since Jablonski's unfortunate injury.

It doesn't get any easier in the USHL where it is more physical and guys drop the gloves. If he is going to run away from being the focus of attention on the high school level, how is he ever going to maintain success as the competition gets even more difficult and the physical play gets ratcheted up further?

Agreed...but I've seen him get cheap shotted a lot. At least in juniors he...or an enforcer-type will be able to stick up for him.

  11. Even the announcer where wondering where the kicking to place and were baffled why he got called for it. I think he can only play a few USHL games then you can't go back to High School I could be wrong

I don't believe you are correct.
