  1. I read this earlier today. There were some good parts (terrorizing agents, crazy parents that want to push their kids too fast, etc). The part I did not like is that it was so one sided and obviously agenda driven (by Minnesota Hockey). It is obviously geared to say that all kids, regardless of their talent level, should play 4 years of high school hockey. Which is obviously false. First off, it should be the kid's choice with the aid of their parents. Second, there is nothing wrong with going the CHL route, or leaving high school early and playing in the NA or the USHL before playing college hockey. It is also perfectly ok to stay and play high school hockey if the kid so chooses. I am of the thinking that if a kid has completely proven that he has nothing more to gain from playing HS hockey (dominating) than he should consider playing at the next level if he wants to challenge himself. The reason more and more MN kids are leaving early is because they want to play against better competition. This article has a similar feel to all those articles written by Canadian writers noting it is "their game" and they should outlaw all imports from the CHL. It's all about letting better players play against each other.
  2. http://www.uscho.com/2015/01/21/minnesota-looking-for-goal-scorers-to-produce-and-key-a-turnaround/ Does this guy always sound like he's making excuses? He did the exact same thing before or after the natty game last year. “They’ve got a good team; they’re an older, veteran team. I was looking at their roster and I think they’ve got two guys under 21,” Lucia said of Mankato. “They’re obviously well-coached. They had a great year last year winning the WCHA Final Five and being an NCAA tournament team, and obviously they’re going to be another NCAA tournament team this year and a real threat to win it all this year with their veteran lineup.”
  3. No way?!?
  4. Don't get me wrong.....I like those guys. I was just thinking back to the early to mid 2000's when we used to get multiple 1st rounders almost every year. Again, I was mostly joking just thinking back to those days. Please don't get too worked up (siouxnami). Same outcome on the season's though huh?
  5. Frattin AHL, Knight AHL (so far). Porter is nice but he has been off campus for 5 years? I'm talking the last 3-4 years. Outside of the Schmaltz bros I think we are lacking those blue chippers. I remember when we had 1st rounders playing on the third line. I'm mostly joking boys. I think this has more to do with the blue chippers going north. Most of our gets for the upcoming year(s) are going to be undrafted or late round picks. Again, that's ok but I still love those blue chippers.
  6. Haha me too. I always like bragging about our NHL alumni.
  7. It doesn't appear we are bringing in very many decent draft prospects. Wilkie should be a mid rounder and Tomek being a goalie is a decent get however I do like when we pull higher recruits. Especially since we are losing a decent amount of seniors after this year.
  8. Looks like Lagesson committed to UMass. Maybe he wanted to be closer to the East coast. Interesting decision. I'm guessing they promised him tons of PT on day 1.
  9. I was somewhat thinking the same thing. They are like -10 or something.
  10. http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/117657/2015-nhl-draft-boeser-weighs-college-options-input-potential-future-linemates/ Sounds like Boeser is Minny bound. Not sure what is taking so long.
  11. MIchigan? Yes, they can score. But they cannot play D.
  12. I actually thought that U18 played fast and were extremely skilled. They just didn't play much D and they didn't play as a team.
  13. I'm so confused....are you a CC fan or a UND fan?
  14. Some of his posts have been so "blah" lately. Those two gave me a chuckle...and they were back to back. Funny.
  15. Watch what happens when Minny drops a game to Wisco this weekend.
  16. Unfortunately, these are big games.
  17. Which is another great reason why he didn't come back.
  18. Just wondering....why? As a UND fan I would say sure, we definitely could have used him that next year. As a hockey fan I don't think his decision was that bad. I don't think an extra year of college would have catapulted him to NHL stardom. Either way his skating ability was his downfall and he would have probably ended up going through the same minor league route. At least he figured it out a year earlier I guess.
  19. Tippet or johnson are the only other two guys I would want to see coach UND. Tippet would never happen though.
  20. ....I really want to see another natty
  21. Agreed, his assistants did a lot of work but let's not kid ourselves. Blais laid the foundation. Blais's network is so far reaching and he actually recruited pretty much all his top recruits. Did his assistants make runs of him? Sure. But Blais pulled the kids, not his assistants. On a side note, this thread is ridiculous. Hak isn't going anywhere nor should he at the moment.
  22. What does that mean? The are like opposite's.
  23. Pretty sure McDavid is a lock now.
  24. I honestly think he was trying to do too much. Additionally, the US team was pretty young. The team parise and Toews played on were not young. Although I was not impressed with how eichel was playing, I could tell he was very very good. He'll be a very good NHL player.
