    Yes.

It’s going to be a long long long shot…especially considering who’s after him. But, we will land some decent CHL forwards…the current hole at F is way too big. They’ll go out and get 2-3 of them minimum.

Michigan is going to be throwing the kitchen sink to land him which I don’t think UND can match. Only way he’d end up here is if he buys into UND’s #culture. ;)

    Are we talking about Gavin?

I pretty much have always seen him listed on the 2nd or 3rd line whenever I’ve seen Tri City’s line chart. So he seems to have a pretty solid lineup spot when healthy.

Yep. He’s another one that’ll need to play another year. I don’t understand writing him off completely. Let’s see what he does next year.

I still think Colten St Clair is the dark horse in this race.

But given timing and requirements, Herter seems to have the inside lane. That said, Jax, Simmer, and Chyz are all Canadians, as is Herter. Smaby is US citizen (as is St Clair).

St Clair is a bit too green for an associate head coach role…maybe an assistant, but not associate head coach. He needs to lead a ushl team first. Or be an assistant on a high functioning D1 program.

First big time domino as 2024 Calgary 3rd rounder Henry Mews commits to Michigan, lots of higher end CHL commits to follow soon.

I’m thinking we’re in on a few of these. We need more F help.

    What do you mean "Huh"?

Haven't you been following the stories that have come out regarding Berry's lackadaisical approach to recruiting?

I have seen several instances of players not being offered because "we are full". Meaning that keeping a home town boy (Montgomery) on the team was more important than making the team better. There is a reason Berry is no longer in charge of this program.

I’m fairly aware of what’s going on with this program.

Id rather take a guy who is young and has gotten better each year, knows the conference (and is a goal scorer btw), then some 30 point senior from the Atlantic conference. Menghini is a great pick up for what is available.

    I agree there.

More of this "we don't have room for you" baloney!

Cripes, I never thought Berry would let recruiting go down the toilet like this. Kudos to Chaves on making the tough, but necessary choice to let him go.

Welcome to our program Anthony! We look forward to seeing you in action in October!

    Huh???

Sour grapes on their part; 20+ teams contacted him per Brad's article that was ready the moment it was announced.

On that note, sounds like another Johannes in that he's a late bloomer who grew up dreaming of playing for UND. The picture of him with a Sioux jersey with the trophy in Tampa is encouraging.

I’m looking at Menghini’s numbers….he must be more of a culture guy or something? Good at pk? We’re not talking about a big time offensive player here. I’m still waiting for some F’s

Said this in the other thread, but worth it again. This is EXACTLY why I was so pumped about the potential of the GM. Already creating buzz. Man, if we pull him off, goodness.

Need to go all in on this one…others will follow

is this anti "get pucks deep"?  I generally agree with you, just always looking to learn.

There’s definitely a time and place to “get pucks deep”…and certain lines need to play that way. But skilled, possession, type plays want to hold onto pucks to make plays. Interchanges, scissors, etc all work even better as you don’t unnecessarily create battles…and the good guys retain possession.

Last year, no matter which line had the puck they were chucking it into a corner….again creating more battles.

In my estimation losing Boisvert is the dagger for next season as a whole, much like losing Blake was. It appears the only way this roster will have a single first line talent is if Zellers is lights out from day one. The anticipated forward group to me looks like one second line, two third lines, and one fourth line. Livanavage could be the highest scorer like the Wolanin year, roster reminds me of the 18-19 teams that were depressing. I'd be shocked if this forward group averages more than 3 goals per game.

Not sure where the optimism that our D should be good next year is coming from, its the same slightly worse than average D from this year. Hopefully Jackson can get our players to improve as they get older.

Agree with everything other than the D piece. Very tough position, they were all underclassmen playing big roles. They’ll get better and better. I don’t foresee them being absolutely lights out next year, but they will take a jump…a pretty good one I suspect.

I just don't see how he fits. WMU plays such a high-paced, physical game. OMac is relatively high-paced, but he is soft as Charmin. I can count on one hand how many times I saw that kid go into a corner and win a battle.

They play a skill game…they move pucks and posses. He should fit in there.
