  1. I don't know if this has been posted previously but the rumor has it that the 8th team in the Big10 could be ASU, Miami, UConn, and UNO.
  2. You're thinking very short term. In the long run (if hockey continues to grow throughout the Midwest) I can see this conference being very good. Teams like Penn State and OSU have some nice recruits in the pipeline currently, so does Notre Dame. MSU needs a new coach and ASU simply needs 5 years or so. The Big10, INMHO, will probably be a very good conference in 10 years. ND pretty much just solidified that. Now I know why Jackson came out and agreed with the B10's proposal to reduce the age of incoming freshman.....because he knew they would going to join. I think college hockey is going to go through a transformation over the next 10-15 years....hopefully our conference will keep afloat.
  3. In the short term this conference will be mediocre, long term I can actually see it succeeding. Just my 2 cents. We'll see what happens in the next 20 years.
  4. I'm not sure where all this is going but all the big schools to one conference doesn't bode well (long term) for recruiting in our area.
  5. I think everyone here is referring to the Hockey East writers...go check Twitter and you'll see what everyone is talking about. I know NE (haha) is a good squad...obviously. But I still think if we can stay out of the box and our goalie shows up we should do just fine. If we can contain Roy we should come out on top.
  6. Sure it is a risk but the puck should always cycle to our best players....and that is our D. UND plays a pro game which an outlet back to the D is used a lot. That's my favorite way to play. If you watch NHL hockey you'll see that a ton. The game is played on the walls, once you get space one of your best options (if no one is open in the slot, D or F) is to throw it back to the D. From there they try to get something on net and hopefully the tendy is being screened. IMO, using the Dman in the O-zone is under-utilized in many levels of hockey. Cleary the NHL uses it given their awareness and vision, but even at the college level I see forwards trying to bull rush to the net and turning it over rather then keeping possession and passing to their open Dman. UND does not have this problem whatsoever. We go to our D a ton.
  7. Looks like Guentzel signed a tryout deal.
  8. Haha. Anyways, I think he did fine. Prior to going to MN Wilkie had more productive years than him at the NTDP. He'll graduate in May and also get some NHL games this year most likely. I think he did it right.
  9. I've noticed that a lot of their top players have played with some of our boys. Odd how their guys are doing well statistically whereas ours (LJ, Gersich) have had slightly sub par years. LJ and Ladue played with Roy and Zach Aston-Reese. It appears Reese was a lower line player while playing with LJ at Lincoln. Also, Nolan Stevens played with Gersich on the NTDP squad. Again, Gersich appears to have had a bigger role. Funny how things play out.
  10. I agree. Their D didn't look very strong at all. They have Roy and a couple other forwards but that's it. As I noted previously, Roy can take over a game so stay out of the box and shadow him. We should have this.
  11. With NCHC.tv gaining popularity the numbers have decreased. I have been there 3-4 times this year for Sioux games. If there are more than 10 fans I believe they would designate that room close to the patio as a Sioux room.
  12. Any team that has been swept by Bentley is beatable on our worst day. On a more serious note, I like this opening game a lot. Sioux 5-2.
  13. no way, that north east region is brutal. I actually like that matchup with northeastern. Theyre on a crazy run but they're not that great of a team and they're not a deep team. Contain Roy (2 pts or less) and we have this game.
  14. really? I thought the boys looked good against a top flight team. The last ten minutes obviously was slightly pedestrian but playing a really good Denver team will benefit us in the long run. Denver is a much better team than NE.
  15. its still a game, college hockey doesn't have enough games as it is.
  16. Agreed that NE bracket does not look all that good, but you never know. The West and East brackets are brutal. Even the MW site doesn't look all that tough.
  17. Yes, I am aware that the Ivy schools play a shorter schedule I was simply trying to make a point. If Johnson had played in only 10 or 15 games I would agree but when you play close to 30 I'm starting to get to the point where he's having an elite year....as good as Demko and Lyon.
  18. Maybe, he's played in 2 less games than Vesey. Does Vesey get dinged for playing in less games? I doubt it.
  19. I agree with everything you said here. Sucks that Cam is getting penalized due to the uber talented dcore in front of him.
  20. I've actually found that scalping is easier and cheaper if your team is playing the night game. Obviously the Friday session tickets are for both games so the scalper would be more willing to wait it out until the night game. I've scalped every year and paid, at the very most, face value. In some cases I've had to sit by myself however I'm pretty locked into the games so it really doesn't matter who I sit by.
  21. The game's at 4pm on a Friday....why can't you make it???
