  1. If it’s an attitude thing that’s one thing, if this kid is pushed out after his frosh year that’s a whole other thing. Kid should be a very solid player for us. He’s not going anywhere.
  2. That’s huge. To be honest, I would have been so shocked if he would have left. How the NHL handles prospects is sure changing.
  3. Haha. These kids only go to und to have a shot at the NHL. Even the undrafted ones pick und to develop them into being a professional hockey player (at any level). Most players learn the tradition and the want for a natty while at und. Und would just be another stop along the way to their ultimate goal. Most fans (especially that never played the game) don’t understand that. It’s similar to those folks who get upset when a soon to be senior in HS decides to play junior hockey rather than for their hometown HS team...they need to bring in a sense of community and “how could you not want to play one more year with your best friends”. These kids are hockey players first with the goal of playing in the NHL. Due to the NCAA loophole, I do think most kids get pushed far too quickly however.
  4. And much better at this point in their careers. Plus he’s getting NHL games this year. Gersich will have to play a while in the A.
  5. Agreed, on the NHL part. Being that small in the NHL is almost impossible. Everyone has the skill you do and are at least 5-6 inches taller.
  6. Huh? he was there leading or second leading scorer. WHy wouldn’t they have wanted him back?
  7. Huh, not following? I meant last year (at ASU) he signed a pro deal after his third year of eligibility...thus foregoing his final year of eligibility
  8. They were sophomores. All I said is that they would have helped. Murphy had like 20 points last season. Probably wouldnt have bolted early had he stayed.
  9. Not a bad idea...in the flip side this may get more recruits. I know tons of good fans that are rejoicing that Lucia is gone.
  10. Wade Murphy would have helped us last year. Just like Wilkie would have helped us this year.
  11. Important? I would say wolanin, but he was definitely leaving. So that really wasn’t an option.
  12. Agreed. He was lock to leave.
  13. I saw him at the Bantam AA state game and he’s actually gotten a ton bigger. I was surprised, he’s a good sized kid.
  14. That’ll hurt. But MN always has more coming in.
  15. Smith is going to be a 4th liner. That third line needs production. Maybe hain, Weatherby or Bowen.
  16. Yup that’s a fact. To be honest I would have said the same thing with AA hockey, that was never really the point. The other guy took it sideways.i should have said put up decent Hs number and stopped heavy numbers in juniors.
  17. Yes I do realize that you can find college stars at the single A level and guess what, in many cases they are drafted high and dominate juniors. In oshie case he was shredding nationally before he ever played a high school game. He was a lock....went in the first round as a late birth year. My point was that Bowen and Yon (to an extent as his junior goal numbers were not bad) only dominated at the single A high school level, did not flourish whatsoever at the junior level (more so Bowen here), and neither were drafted in any of the 7 nhl draft rounds. Given UND program, tradition, and success...I doubt these boys were recruited to play heavy top 6 minutes (again...moreso Bowen here). That is what I meant by my post...didn’t think I had to explain it in detail. It was not a bash on single A Hockey.
  18. I was so close to writing “yes I know Oshie came from a small school” in parentheses behind that comment, as I know this forum so well by now. But got lazy. What round did oshie go in? Respectfully, read the whole post. #keyboardwarrior
  19. Single A hockey. Both projected and did go undrafted, both did not produce great in juniors...especially Bowen.
  20. ...and was a very good college defensemen. His situation is a bit different though, he’s crack most rosters. LA is loaded at D. He was also old when he left UND.
  21. His point totals were never great but his goals per game was actually decent. He still has time to get to a top nine role in college.
