Sure, but the kids would have to be good enough. It's not like this team will be full of GF kids. Not saying you were insinuating this, but I've spoken to some folks who think the entire team will be GF kids. The MJ is a normal Junior A league, given ND HS hockey is set up so odd, kids cannot go back and forth.
-
Still think Kunz will be decent. I watched him in the Elite league and he was solid. He's a big kid that still needs to catch up speed-wise but he is very talented.
-
BC - Ya, I was trying to kind of be nice. He definitely was one who should have went to the NA prior to going to the USHL. The jump from ND HS hockey to the USHL is light years. Manc. - True but he didn't receive a ton of playing time at the IH and he has fallen off almost all scout rankings. Stratton - Agreed. He was kind of talked about as being that diamond in the rough kind of guy. Late bloomer. Still obviously has tons of time and his numbers aren't garbage. But I thought he would be doing more of what Weatherby was doing last year.
-
I think I saw Montgomery with more current stats....he had good numbers. Kids like Costello and Mancinelli have really taken a step back. Stratton was another kid who was supposed to tear up of the BC this year. 6 goals in 37 games, not great. I believe I remember his coach stating he expected him to be in the mid 80s this year.

The difference between junior hockey and ND high school hockey is huge. I still believe GF (and other higher end kids) will end up playing tier 1. GF should have explored that option....or at least got serious about it.
-
curious what the story is with Bowen.
-
That would be very interesting. It would give some higher end kids some options. However in the long run I don't believe it solves anything related to U16 and some U18 players looking for the next jump. If this team is created they will start pulling kids from all over. GF HS kids (coming off an aviator season will still explore Tier 1 options like the SF Power, etc.). It is a step in the right direction though.

The tourney is a tish different now than it was in the 80s or 90s. Also, so is our program and the types of recruits we go after.

Auto’d beat it nerd

One of the best tourney’s of the year. D group is strong. Very shocked with the Cates/O’Brien picks. Not overly sure how they got on this team.

oh ya

Oh absolutely. When JBD was cut, it really didn't even bother me. But looking back, I guess I remember hearing a ton of laughter when UofMN didn't have any players going etc. We used to always have at least one guy going. Whatever, need to make a nice second half run. The one thing about the WJC, is that it is a huge marketing tool for recruits. If we sent players every year that would be nice (like the Boston schools typically do, and Michigan, etc.). Again, I have seen a recruiting pipeline dry up a bit compared to the glory days of the earlier 2000's. We need to get that back on track. I do like some of our younger recruits...but I pay attention. We're missing a ton too. Back in the day if we wanted a kid we'd get him.
-
Sure, but we're biased. At the end of the day....he wasn't.
-
He's gone now. I'd like to see him back in some capacity. Obviously that can't happen, but I sure would like it.

3.75 rating on NZ. I’m curious was this add represents? He’s a late ‘99 and he’s obviously not coming in next year I believe. Definitely not a huge get but again, he seems to be productive in the ushl. Small kid.
-
Well that’s probably true.
-
I saw that too
-
No idea really, I have never heard of him. Numbers look decent though. Plays in a tough league obviously.
-
Riese Gaber flips to UND. Overager putting up decent numbers for Dubuque
-
Right on the pk. But that team should be so much better. High end veterans, high end young guys. Not sure why they can’t put it together better.
-
I just took a look at our player stats...shockingly bad. I know it should come across as obvious as they aren't a high scoring team. But these numbers must be all time lows. Gardner has 1 assist in 17 games played while receiving more ice time than most players in the country! One assist. Nuts. Team needs to come together in the second half. I still like this team and think they have the horses to make a playoff push. Get healthy and get consistent.

Little bit of a lull after the natty.

Mismash playing tonight? That guy can really disappear for long stretches.

This is like watching the wild from a few year ago. Just zero offense. Tough sledding.

Couldn’t imagine this goaltending 3, 4, or 5 years ago. Probably would have 9 or 10 by now.
