  1. Kelley is announcing Sunday before the vote that the new name is Roughriding Nodak Hawks anyways. I can't give you my inside sources, all I can say is that is was the logical decision.
  2. haha I thought it was worth mentioning. It got pretty ridiculous and shameless.
  3. As a big Roughrider nickname supporter, I don't see a lot of tact from the Roughrider side in this thread (among others). Just wanted you all to know that that it isn't lost on all RR supporters.
  4. I had every intention of buying a new football shirt the first home game, and that's when I discovered you couldn't once in the Alerus.
  5. idk... it's kinda Qualtrics job to make such a thing work... it would require a hair of logic, as to not use the 2nd choice if the first choice is still available, but again... that's literally their job.
  6. I'd be a big instant run off guy considering the switcheroo
  7. that's a spectacular gif
  8. haha good take.
  9. good to hear! thanks for the insight!
  10. i think Jim summed up Fighting Hawks perfectly months ago... http://blog.siouxsports.com/2015/07/22/fighting-hawks/
  11. Shades of orange and black (Rugby) will show here. I think he's a hell of an athlete, you can look to the state basketball tournament as evidence (routinely dunked, also long runs as QB, and I believe he long jumped around 22 feet, could be a little off though there). He's going to need some time with mechanics throwing the ball though, footwork specifically. It's just not something he really ever HAD to do at the Class A level. He could out-athlete most of the kids he competed against. His receivers could too, so he just never had to get super super accurate and exact in his quarterback specific stuff. He's a smart kid from a great family and a hell of an athlete. I think pulling his redshirt this year would be a disservice to him and the program though. He's someone I wouldn't worry about getting better because I think he has a wonderful attitude, it's just you don't develop the habits of a refined QB over night.
  12. RIP Flip. Met him twice, once in Minot, once at the NCAA regional in Minneapolis. He was super nice both times.
  13. I can't stand the generic nature of Fighting Hawks and when jesting about it, I have been calling it F-Hawks for the past few weeks.
  14. I don't know how a Hawks name can win, Foghorn Leghorn (some type of hawk, right?) was clearly a racist.
  15. Seriously though... at this point why not
  16. this is pretty big of you to say. I don't know if I would say Id say the same had the roles been flipped
  17. it really makes it hard to get people on the fence interested when they can't find the game.
  18. thanks for the updates guys; haven't been able to check in until that last drive. Am I the only one not in love with the TV situation this year?
  19. I'd like to know a lot more about this. As someone who works with Bakken brine daily, I just have trouble getting past all the logistical issues this brine presents.
  20. depending on the scotch, you should really get it into a glass.
  21. for sure. SB nation writers in general aren't a creative bunch.
  22. I hate how much sense this makes, haha.
  23. Holy moly guys... as someone who as strongly dug into a nickname camp as anyone on this board, this is ugly. I'm thoroughly embarrassed reading this mess. Controversy is best when each side brings about the best in their argument, elevating the conversation higher back and forth in retort. It is at its worst when we have to tear the other side down to make the ground we stand on seem higher. I think any casual reader of this site knows I'm a huge Roughrider supporter, but I'll extend an olive branch in a minor effort to restore sanity to this discussion. I personally would predict, that if Roughriders can't win, it's because Nodaks won. I'll make a small plug for Nodaks. If you like Nodaks, I get it. It sounds cool. I even heard a story (I can't find any validation of it though) that it may have inspired the Kodak name (the internet disagrees, but what does it know). By the way, this one's free, Nodak Attack. Can't believe you Nodak supporters haven't made that a thing yet. If you want the Nodak because you it's the closest to no name (and you exist) I get it. There's a lot of passion there. I might disagree now, but at one point in time, I felt the same. I don't think it's a sin to want it for that. That's fair. It is hyper unique. It's hyper North Dakota. It's open ended. It's by far and away my second (if I were to have a second choice).
