  1. Interestingly enough, that is what Carr Associates does, they are paid to STUDY the university and its situation so that they can give the most sound advice that they can. They don't have a magic 8ball in front of them in order to give answers to questions.
  2. So, to summarize, NDSU paid Carr Sports Associates, headed/founded by the former AD at U of Florida, hardly an expert in their field, even described as "sucky" yet at the same time being the best at what they do, and one that also uses dated or challengeable methods, $30,000 if memory serves me correctly to give them advice on the feasibility of making the largest impacting move the university has ever made. Gene "The Visionary" Taylor took some of the advice of this not so reliable company, and discarded the rest as he pleased, because deep in the back of his mind he really knew what the sometimes reliable, most of the time unreliable Carr Associates didn't, that no conference would want NDSU until years after they had moved up. Sounds like a possible new soap opera.
  3. Everyone's forgetting one of our own, Grand Forks' David Tanabe whose father is of Asian decent. Sorry if he was already mentioned.
  4. Good point, Bison fans should at the very least learn that it isn't 1AA, it is IAA.
  5. You're wrong, they have nothing to lose. And don't ever call IAA the "big boys" again, the big boys are in IA.
  6. Dan Dahl had a great weekend as well, and it is important that he play solidly nightly in order to spell Jade and keep the D honest, because when Jade is in their they can sag and help a lot more the way he has shot the ball. Also great to see AJ put up some points. With he and Lindahl in their at the forwards, and playing well, it should be an absolute nightmare for opposing defenses because of thier height, length, and overall skill. Makes for an interesting next 2 weeks. I'm calling a split with each team winning on the road simply because it has happened so much in the last 10 years.
  7. My buddy went to the game, called Ryan Potulny while he was at the hospital and Ryan told him it was a 3rd degree seperation, this was sometime between 9:30-9:45. Not a good situation for this year and potentially his future. Grant, although being a Gopher, is someone I've known forever and is a great guy, has always worked his tail off through a history of injuries that goes back to major back surgery when he was 11 or 12, and is the ultimate winner and competitor on the field, ice, and diamond. He should be in everyone's prayers, hopefully he will play again and at the same level.
  8. In today's Rocky Mountain News there was a listing of all the players in the state who were committed to a DI school or getting DI interest, amongst them was this, Bobby Coy, RB, Heritage
  9. In an unrelated manner, Maurice Hargrow, the Gophers second best player and an excellent talent, got his release today. He is a JR that didn't redshirt (if memory serves me correctly). I'd be surprised if he didn't transfer to a DII school because it is so odd for a player to leave a team a week and a half into a semester and would make for a sticky situation as far as his eligibility clock at the DI level goes. Hopefully the coaches now down in Sioux Falls are on the phone trying to get some info to see if there is an interest on his part in UND, but I'd be surprised if he didn't end up in Mankato, St. Cloud, or at CSP (St. Paul native).
  10. From what I know, UND does pays REA for marketing, and not much else. If this is thought about, what legend is saying doesn't really make any sense, and I know for fact that most of it is fase also. Ralph builds the arena for UND. They then charge $6500 a month for ice time for their sole tennant? The ball would be in UND's court with the ice fee. All UND would have to do is say no, we'll just practice and play at the old Ralph for free. The ice fee, amongst other things, makes no sense to me at all because UND has a ton of leverage in that scenario.
  11. So the list thus far is Manke, Rohde, Dressler, Caufield, Moe, Hendrickson, and I was told today that Yilek the C from Eden Prairie has also. Missing any?
  12. There will be no way to replace NDSU for football. However, adding Winona would be an acceptable replacement for SDSU from a football aspect, in fact it is a real improvement as SDSU hovers has hovered right around .500 for some 30 or so years now. Also, the NCC lost Morningside a couple of years back, and overall I think Winona would be an upgrade over them, especially in football, however Morningside usually fielded a pretty good basketball team.
  13. So the regional rankings are pretty much a regional RPI. It brings up the question, if the NCAA uses this forumla to create the regional rankings, why not do away with the D2 top 25 poll and put out a top 25 using the same formula. The 2 different "polls" have to contracict themselves in their rankings. It is the NCAA, though, so it the obvious and simple way out cannot be taken.
  14. Didn't know that. Any idea what or how it is calculated.
  15. How the heck are UNO and Mankato not ranked ahead of SDSU. I can see the Bison not above them yet, but to me that is pretty ridiculous-similar record, 2 games on top in the conference race, NOT having a 3 game losing streak. Really weird.
  16. You know what, you are right. Your AD hasn't been lobbying for it at all. He's said the door is shut on any games once NDSU gets into DI, he's never said anything about the offer being out there, the ball being in our court. Your President doesn't care. Miles and Ruley have never said that they want the rivalry to continue, and weren't upset with any of Rich Glas' comments. Bohl is on record countless times about not giving a hoot about the rivalry. Nobody on the NDSU side does care about the game. Please. Since this is apparently the case, it has been solved, NDSU is to blame because according to Idiot1234, they don't want to play us anymore. Thanks for making it clear that it is NDSU's fault and both sides aren't to blame.
  17. I'm not sure of whom you are speaking, but their starting QB who was 2nd team all midwest region per D2football.com got hurt in the 1st or 2nd quarter, and played little if at all after that. He is an excellent player (174-300, 2528 yds, 16 tds, 480 rushing, rating of 120+), I recently saw him rated as the 12th best NFL QB prospect in the SO class, so I am not the only one who thinks he is an excellent player. If he only did complete 30% of his passes, everyone has a bad game or quarter in his case. If you based a player after seeing them play once a year then UND fans would consider Lamar Gordon an average NCC RB at best, but based on everything else he did we know better.
  18. That scenario is a definite possibility. UMD and St. Cloud will be an interesting matchup next year and beyond with Bubba and Hedberg, not to mention St. Cloud will have to retool a bit with out Heckendorf. I look for USD to be the surprise of the conference next year. They were a pretty young team this year, have a new regime in place, and all indications were that their FR RB was an absolute stud. They could end up third or fourth. Also, CSP will be tough for them to beat this next year. The Bison didn't see the real CSP, not that CSP would've won or even only lost by 20, but their QB who got hurt is one of the most exciting players I've seen on the D2 level, equatable to the Michael Vick of D2.
  19. I don't think Duluth has much of a chance at the playoffs at all next year. They lose a lot of good personel. They will be a middle of the pack(4-6) team in confeence next year IMO (1.UND, Omaha, St Cloud, USD, UMD, Augie, Mankato) . While I doubt Bubba had anything to do with the Upper Iowa game, I also think that UMD will need that game as far as confidence and simply getting a win goes.
  20. There are a lot of factors that would have helped him. Coach Glas obviously really knows what he is doing with them, as evidenced by our great C's and PF's the last 15+ years. It only helped Rype tp practice against Beasley for 2 years. Individual workouts have obviously helped him a lot. And a lot of the credit has to go to Todd himself in working hard. Rype is a few steps away from being a truely dominant player. He isn't as aggressive as most would like. He goes to his right-handed jump-hook almost exclusively, teams will be starting to overplay that, which is why he needs more confidence in a move to the other direction. His free throws are average at best. These aren't necessarily criticisms, just things that if Rype got better at he would be an unbelievable force.
  21. Great info. Here is hoping it is true, and that the Stadnyk kid did, in fact, verbal. If so, he would have to be up there with Lotysz, Kleinsasser, and a few others as one of the football team's highest profile recruits ever. The staff seems to be placing an emphasis on great speed, not that we haven't had it in the past, but Dressler, the Rohde kid, and even a DE like the kid from Canada have top-notch speed for their positions. Thanks again UND Fan.
  22. He was just raw, big body but didn't have the skills at the time.
