  1. St. Cloud is averaging almost the same as UND in attendence, also plenty more then NDSU. Where the hell are you getting your information? I can hear your mommy calling again, out your pasifier in your mouth and go home.
  2. Evidently Sioux fans care more about their basketball teams then NDSU does, UND is averaging about 500 more fans a night for a men's team that is in 6 or 7 place, what looks sad about that picture?
  3. SDSU football being dropped is about as likely as UND hockey being dropped. Aint gunna happen. The reason SDSU football IS going to be more competitive in D1 is because they'll ahvethe full 63 scholorships which means they can recruit better kids.
  4. Ouch!! This Argus Leader article paints a pretty grim of what his marriage was. His wife has filed for divorce and Oien has had problems with "long-standing alcohol abuse, anger and arguments". Sounds like he very much lived 2 seperate lives. He has to lose his job, and it details how his reignation wasn't accepted. What kind of ship are they running down there? Oien article
  5. What the hell is your point. Since you are 6, I know you don't know this, but there were work stoppages in baseball in '94 and '81. Baseball teams claim to lose money every single year. The NFL had a work stoppage in '87. A lot of teams lose money despite it being the most popular sport in the US. Nearly every DI program in the country loses millions upon millions every single year. The NBA lost games due to a work stoppage a few years before you were born in '96 or '97 I believe, and their teams lose money yearly also. Loss of millions and strikes aren't anything new in sports, but being such a little tike how would you know that?
  6. It wasn't that it was pro-NDSU, it was that and anti-UND and took shots at Roger Thomas, UND basketball schedule, UND's agendas, the football schedule and Ferris St who he must have forgot that NDSU played 5 or so years ago. He went way past pro-NDSU, he is probably bitter that he will no longer be in the state spotlight calling UND-NDSU games where he bores viewers to death with his overusage of phrases and his attempts to sound so professional.
  7. UND Fan, A few days ago you were wondering about the Baagason girl who is a JR at Fosston, I knew the Gophs were talking to her, and I was told last night that UND is recruiting her and hard. She is about 5-10 and apparently a lights out shooter. She isn't as athletic as Roysland but the coach told me she was a better shooter. UND had her at the NDSU game last Sat along with a 6-2/3 girl from Badger-Grenbush-Middle River, who they are very high on as well, her name is Kimbro or something similar and is a JR as well.
  8. The record may indicate that UND needs more wins, but common sense indicates that UND and NDSU are in the best positions in the women's race. SDSU will lose 2 this weekend dropping below the Sioux in the region, St. Cloud will lose at least 3 of its last 4 at the ND schools and SDSU/Augie, dropping down as well. Meanwhile, UND and NDSU have a schedule that is screaming that both teams will run the table.
  9. Where is the insinuation that something is wrong with the SDSU women's program? The fact was stated that 2 players transferred to USD, and that maybe Oien was paranoid about losing more players. If you think that he has no business talking to the opposition after the game as an opposing coach, you don't know what you are talkiing about. It happens after almost every single game everywhere in America, is it only unacceptable in Brookings where the angry AD runs the day? You are trying to spin this to put fault on someone else when there is only one person who can be blamed. During Oien's initial loss of control, my friends and I were standing near an elderly gentleman with a SDSU sweatshirt on and what I would assume to be his wife. They had been talking to an SDSU player before the spaz attack, and we asked them immediately after if they had any idea what was going on, the gentleman told me that, and I quote, "no matter what occurred during the game or in the past, there is no reason for anyone let alone an athletic director to act like that in front of all these people. And many of them are parents who are now really embaressed, he just did a large disservice to everyone here, not to mention this," then he pointed at his navy blue sweatshirt that said SDSU in yellow letters. He went on to point out that he had been told that Jones wasn't too happy with his situation at SDSU at the time, something that I already knew, and that Jones was fond of Coach Glas, speculating that that may have been the reason for the outburst. I found out a few minutes later that this gentleman was almost exactly right in his assessment. Ray Charles could see who the problem was in that scenario, evidently some people ar blind to the truth and facts.
  10. I just counted on uscho.com and they list 58 as well.
  11. According to the NCAA site there are 58, not 49, schools that sponsor DI hockey.
  12. I have to question whether or not you have ever stayed in an arena after a game is done. Players talk, coaches talk, coaches and players talk, it happens in football, basketball, baseball, everything. This is not tampering, it is called friendly comversation, comrodery. It was not blown out of proportion, there were many people there, we all saw the exact same thing, one man who very obviously has some anger issues that need to be dealt with going on a screaming, swearing tirade from the 2nd level of Frost, there is no possible way to confuse what went on there. Please investigate Rich Glas' record, you'll find nothing to suggest that he isn't a great man and role model, he doesn't hit women, get arrested, etc. Your nonchalance toward the AD's issue is troubling, he may be a mortal, but most mortals do not hit their wives, and being accused of it on 2 seperate occassions tells me that there is a definate history in the abuse and it has occurred on more occasions then the 2 that have been reported, therefore I have no problem not taking the moral highground, my problems pale in comparison to this abusive man's. He has embaressed the university and the fantastic city of Brookings on a grand and public level, and this issue is, I think, much more serious then the Bob Entzion situation, he was only looking for a little sexual pleasure, not hitting women. There are going to be a lot of upset and embaressed Jack fans for the next coming weeks when this incident is brought up by fans every time their team steps on an opposing teams court.
  13. Larrylegend334, Actually there are only 39 D2 schools that sponsor wrestling according to the NCAA site. Kind of funny that they even have a top 20 or 25 or wrestling, why even bother if 3/4 of the teams in the country are in the polls. And they make fun of hockey because there are only like 60 DI schools that sponsor it
  14. Actually they were committed to go there since at least last Christmas, before the incident occurred. Players wanted to take their "tournament trip" to any place on Earth other then scenic Brookings, coaches wanted to go to Brookings for the games they'd get there, even though it turned out there were no big-name opponents.
  15. I don't think that all that big of a contribution can be expected of him. He has missed what, the last 15 games, 2 months, and his practice time has obviously been minimal. It would be hard to believe if he returned that he would be able to play more then 10 minutes a game for the next 2 weekends, and his strength and stamina would have to be way down. SDSU has disappointment me this year, they should be blowing out every single team they play, going in I thought they had a legit shot at going undefeated. I was told he wouldn't be playing this weekend last night by a Sioux coach.
  16. I lost all respect for the man when I watched the 10pm sports from tonight. He needs to go back to his co-starring role as Cornelius in Charlton Heston's Planet of the Apes and stay away from yellow journalism. To access select WDAY @ 10, then on the first viewing screen hit the next icon (to the left of the volume on the screen), and fast forward to about the 26 minute mark, maybe a bit sooner. He mentions how he is still waiting for a big schedule to be announced, questions Ferris St for football, and says the basketball schedules are the same as this years. Hallstrom's rant
  17. You never cease to amaze. This is coming from a Bison fan, a school whose name is built upon its success about a decade and a half ago in a winter sport, football. Those wintery, snowy, icy conditions helped NDSU win many a football tilt, and now you are trashing it? I can hear your mom calling you, it must be time to go home.
  18. I think that the 16 win mark, with this team that the Sioux put on the court, is a good year for coach Glas. 16 wins puts them at 7-9 in the NCC, and one of the assistants told me right before Christmas that if this team can go .500 in conference, he will call every coach in the league and tell them to vote for Rich for coach of the year. Whether the calls will be made is a whole nother issue, but, dispite his critics, you'd have to say that 16 wins is a job well done.
  19. Interesting, I'd never thought of that, but for it to happen they would have to end up in 1st or 2nd in regular season and win the conference tourney. CSP would have to falter, maybe, but I'd hope the region would be at Hyslop, I'd like the Sioux's chances against anybody there.
  20. Yep, only 4 games left there .
  21. I am looking forward to this weekend, where the Sioux should have a 2 game conference winning streak going into Sat with SDSU. I thing UND has a shot against SDSU because I can guarantee that SDSU is overlooking the men. The NDSU-SDSU game is make-or-break for both teams, SDSU loses they have a very slim shot at winning the league, the Bison lose their playoff hopes are all but shot (unless they win the conference tourney). UND matches up with SDSU pretty sell, and if the Sioux can take care of the ball (cut own turnovers) like they did against the Bison, it should be a game. I am curious to see what kind of crowd will show up with hockey in town and all, though.
  22. The game itself was a pretty darn good one, but the shock value of the after-card made it possibly more exciting then the main event. Yes it was last year.
  23. I don't see the logic at all behind the women's rankings. St. Cloud at 3 and USD at 6? USD got pounded by UND, SDSU and I am pretty sure Augie beat them by double digits. St Cloud lost at home to Crookston, UND, NDSU, and has had the most favorable conference schedule in the NCC so far this year. It will make sense by the end, though, I'm sure.
  24. You missed a show for the ages, it happened at least a half hour after the game.
  25. Conference weekend. Oien turned a harmless situation in a quiet post-game arena into making a fool of himself in front of a good 100+ people. And he didn't stop after it was done, following the team out of the arena a while after the first altercation and starting to yell some more. R rated language in front of his fans for no reason at all, completely unprovoked by anyone. There were some pretty stupid things said by Oien in front of UND people that no doubt has left a real ugly picture of SDSU in everyone who was there's mind. I've done a terrible job describing it, but larrylegend334 got most of the main details right. It is one of those things you almost don't like talking about because it was so stupid, unnecessary, and unfair to Coach Glas. It would be impossible for me to have an ounce of respect for Oien and his programs after that, no matter what he could possibly do for the rest of his life.
