  1. I was told that it isn't too likely that Parks would get another year back from the NCAA for this curent year, therefore would only have a year left after this one. However, there is a slight chance that he may get a semester back ala Tommie King from USD this year. Best case scenario is that Parks plays all of next year and then the 2nd semester of the following year.
  2. It was thought that he would begin practicing sometime around the 1st of the year, but some eligability issues have arisen and he didn't travel this weekend. The last I was told which was the day after Xmas his eligibility was unknown. And with Nobles now done for the year he is needed even more. The bench is a real problem now, with AJ the only guy who has the potential to contribute points there. The recent wins have impressed me a ton, though, but the bench remains a huge concern.
  3. UND is recruiting Brandon Jordan, a WR/DB/return specialist from Winnipeg. He was his league's offensive player of the year, all-conference on both sides of the ball, and his teams offensive and defensive MVP's.
  4. We all should congradulate Bubba on his moving up, and thank him for what he brought to UND. He was a great representative of UND, a true class act, and a great and successful coach. I am also confident in UND's ability to fill his position, and would guess it will be Tibesar. Bubba's moving on makes me fear UMD a lot more now, as we know their defense will be much improved based on Bubba alone. It will be fun to see him out of the box and on the opposite sideline at the alerus for years to come. Good Luck Bubba!!
  5. I know that there were Ivy League schools recruiting Caufield, and the bison were as well. So much for DI lure.
  6. Here is another more recent one. http://www.madison.com/captimes/sports/preps/63064.php I have to say, he seems like a real good get. I know that Valparaiso and Western Kentucky showed some interest in the kid. Another thing I like about him is that he plays the point fot his HS team. The Sioux have struggled against the press in the past, having only the PG as a good ballhandler (Brandt and Walks weren't very good dribblers IMO), and that problem would seem to be taken care of for the future. With he and Doyle in the backcourt in the future, it seems very well taken care of.
  7. I agree. And the bIson can say they don't have an advantage for at least a few years, but really having the DI next to your name is all the advantage it takes. It is a recruiting advantage to an unbelievable degree. It would be worthless playing them next year anyway, if we want to play a guy's team of that calibre why not schedule EGF Sacred Heart's JV? It will be laughable how bad they are going to be next year. Well, at least their games will be on the bottomline which they think is the biggest perk to DI.
  8. I'm not too bitter about not playing them not year in basketball. I think taking a year or two off will only enhance it on all fields. It is also shoving one in Gene "The Visionary" Taylor's face for going public with his little spin of things about "the ball's in their court" crap. There are consequences to every decision, and the bison are going to have to live with it and so are we. Even if they were still in D2 I'd be against playing them in baskeyball nexy year. They are brutal this year and are losing 3 or 4 starters and their scorers including their 2 best players in Cofield and Nemmers, with that team they should just set up a high school schedule anyway. But they'll be scheduling D3s and NAIAs to fil their schedule anyway, so they may get a few wins.

I'd guess he'd play inside, as he is like 6'3" and 235". As to who he'd push, very possibly no one for a while.

3 years feft. He went to the ag school in 2002 and redshirted his 1st year there. He then transferred to Science, and will have 3 years starting next year, but could conceivably be in for spring ball. He can't redshirt a year here, though.

Or, as is the case, Nordick is more of a run-stopper and Ullsberger is a faster, better guy to have in there on the pass. It isn't about making people happy, it is about having the best people in there for the given situation. That's pretty elementary stuff. Ullsberger played more late because, as UND went 12-2, their opponents needed to pass in the 2nd half, of course except for their comeback wins. It isn't playing older guys, it is a scheme to stop opponents that is situationally based.
  12. Wyobisonman's thoughts next year: Chris Fowler, Curt Herbstreet, and "the Coach" Lee Corso live from the Fargo dome parking lot for NDSU vs MSU-Mankato. What a great matchup we got. A winless NCC team in MSU-Mankato? I thought we were moving up and done with the NCC and D2? Oh well, at least College GameDay is here, at lest we will be on the BottomLine. God, IAA football is the best. I can't wait until SDSU comes to the dome next week, they are always a good football team. They had he fewest playoff football appearances in the NCC at 1? Their last time in the playoffs was in the Carter administration and are usually a .500 D2 team? Oh well, they're IAA and IAA football is where all the money is and the media flocks to. Our Men's basketball team should do well, too, we have a great tradition and are coming off a fine season. Now pass the Kool-Aid and cereal, we can't drink in the Fargodome parking lot.
  13. Because once you are there, you'll be the media darling.
  14. You evidently have no idea who we are talking about. Aaron Austin, from Hallock Minnesota. He started out at Northern Colorado, averaging 15 a game as a redshirt freshman. He left and transfered to FFCC, and everybody and their brother wanted him. He was counted on to be the go-to guy before the season. He is 6'3", is an absolute rock at probably 205 lbs, and is a better athlete and three point shooter than anyone we have. He'll open up the middle for Rip a ton. Here is something you can understand, Jared Keaveny, but with a handle and the ability to create his own shot. And he has a blue ox named babe.
  15. What do you mean? I said Austin will be back.
  16. He's really raw, as you mentioned, and he doesn't have a very good grip on the offense. He is steadily playing more, though, and he'll be a bigger factor as the season progresses. Give Wells credit, though, he's done a fairly decent job of knowing his role, blocking shots, and rebounding.
  17. Yep, to join the team in about a week. Should be quite a boost. He was going to be the man before the season started. When Nobles finally gets back, I think this team has a legit shot at a top 3 finish in the NCC with Austin back on board.
  18. It's convenient that his comments come now, after UND got screwed at Bemidji at the start of the year. These NSIC people don't realize that the NCC has a lot bigger players overall, which lends itself to more physical play, and that is how NCC refs call the games.
  19. No, just a new/old face coming back who could consistently give us 20 a night if his head is right.
  20. The men's hoops team is about to get a lot better with a big addition.

    Clueless fans?

Once again, IMO and I think everyone elses', I have a hard time believing that this was heard from the upper level of the Alerus as some of the crybaby UNA fans (you got beat in all facets of the game, get over it) have claimed when 1)half the time it was hard enough hearing the person next to me, 2)no one but the UNA fans heard these "slurs" despite the fact that most people here, if they heard the slurs themselves, wouldn't turn the other way to them, and 3) a number of the people down front in the student section were African Americans themselves (and 2 from NDSU), so I doubt they were yelling any of your "racial slurs" and/or sit there while they were being thrown out and not react to them themselves. Things just don't add up from the UNA perspective.

On one hand, I think that Mussman and Bubba would be the top 2 for Duluth. They've both experienced the NCC and know what it is about, the people and their tendencies. But on the other, and this hand seem to be the one that I believe, I don't think UMD would want to head into a new conference with a head coach who has never heald that position before. Also, the 2 other finalists for the job are now heads at D3 Wisconsin schools, which is where UMD gets a lot of their players, so these two would have a good recruiting contacts in the state where a lot of their players come from. For these reasons, I'd be surprised if Bubba or Musman are lost to THIS head job.

I have a hard time believing that the 1st team all-NCC kicker is in any jeopardy of losing his job. Sure he was inconsistent, but kickers go through that. He had to deal with a different holder for at least 2 games when Bowencamp was hurt and Ahlers did it. That could have obviously been a problem. And yesterday, Morten Anderson would've had no chance at making that one. I doubt Saunders has legitimate range to almost 60 yards. Glas's kickoffs reach the endzone half of the time, and are touchbacks probably 20% of the time. He's got a shot at kicking at the next level, scouts have known that for 5 years since when they came to watch Peterka. I'm going to have to disagree.
