  1. Jackguy, No, it was early in the 2nd half and the refs called a hand-check or something with the body at the top of the key on the SIoux. Then the Jacks in-bounded and their girl was, according to the radio guys, maulled pretty good on the steal, much more-so then the previous call. Yeah, I remember the radio guys saying there were very literally no calls made at all in the 1st half, and then the 2nd half they tightened things up a lot. With so many complaints about the officials from all different parties, it makes me wonder whose (what leagues) refs were they, or if there were a mix on every crew. Or, since the tourney was held in a middle school gym, were middle school refs contracted ? And an attendence of 975 or so last night? That tells me that there were no people there from the host school at all. Absolutely terrible. Had that been in GF, Fargo, or Brookings, the title game would've been pretty full no matter who played, host team or otherwise.
  2. Good info. The season is over, so we can speculate about next year a bit. Maffin and the Guinn girl are going to have to provide some punch from the outside. Mahlum proved SO inconsistent down the stretch that at this point I don't know if she can always be counted on. I lkie Jahner at the point. She is in the Tonia Jones mold, maybe a bit of a better scorer, but she defends real well and runs the team's offense well. Boese may have the inside track at conference MVP for next year. There are some big ? at the 5 and on the wings, but Roebuck has proven over and over again that he can fill holes, so I am not too worried.
  3. Announcers? Swwygy does a great job if you ask me. Does he have a pro-UND slant, of course, just like every home announcer in the business. But what he does is tell it like he sees it better then anyone, he is critical and praises players on both sides, and that is what he did last night. He was praising Megan Vogel as the game closed, and complaining about the refs obvious inconsistencies in the 2nd half, and on both ends. He was saying early in the 2nd half how they called a ticky-tacky foul on the Sioux at the top of the key, and then on the ensuing posession, a Sioux player mauled one of the Jack girls for a steal and no call, not whiny but asking for some regularity on both ends. Not sure where complaints about our basketball announcers would come from, but I would guess he claims to be a know-it-all doc.
  4. Hats off to the Jacks, sounded like an exciting game. I'm not sure if it should be characterized as a battle or a struggle, pretty ugly play times. Sioux came from way behind, Mary Perrizo had 28 I believe and single-handedly kept the Sioux in the game. Leighton in foul trouble again didn't help the cause. Swyggy was pretty critical of the refs at times, and on both sides, saying they'd call ticky-tack stuff and nothing when there was an obvious foul. Someone who was there is going to have to talk about officiating, but Swyggy said it was bad for both teams. Sioux shoot themselves time after time with turnovers when they could take the lead and tie it up, roughly 30 turnovers. That is what cost them the game, which they were unbelievably lucky to be in with that many TO's. Mahlum was shooting airballs on open 3's, announcers said she was way off. Too bad of the outcome, yesterday's games surely played a factor, but that cannot be an excuse. Jacks whould have a good chance to win it all.
  5. I was just looking over the Metro State roster, and they are all normal college aged kids. No one is older then 23, so they do not have any BYUesque age/maturity advantage, so that argument doesn't standup. They are just a damn good team. By the looks of them, they are tall across the board, 6-5 guards, and they can all shoot it from the outside. Not to mention they have CJ Massingale, a guy who I remember lighting UCLA up a few years ago while he was a starter and pretty good player in the Pac-10 at Washington. I don't see how they are going to be beat.
  6. Vince, You should have obliged and given the women back her seats. The bleachers under the baskets should've been fine for you, especially since they look like they were bleachers brought in directly from your old stomping grounds out at Ullland. There is that UND arrogance coming into play again .
  7. Cool. Leave it to you 2 to kick a dog when he is down, again. Wait til next year.
  8. On a whole different note, the Sioux ladies being this far in the tournament is really a surprise to me considering how I had them tabbed at the beginning of the year. I thought that this would be the most vulnerable team Roebuck has had since the late 80's. They didn't return much scoring, depth, size, and I thought more of the FR would have to be counted on more then they have. It is good to be wrong though. This shows how good of a coach Roebuck is and how successful his system is, he just lets the women go out and play, have fun, fast break like they are a 6th grade girls travelling team. Hopefully the season will include a win tonight.
  9. No, the sickness you are feeling is thanks to your CSP Whatevers, the "top ranked" team in the region, getting blitzed by the #4 team and according to those in attendence at the games being out-attended as well. Pretty sad state, yet the same state that literally everyone predicted.
  10. Teamsioux, I've got 2 questions for you. How was the ticket situation, tough getting them, stand in a long line, etc. And was there a good Sioux contingent down there last night? Thanks.
  11. The only thing I would add to that list is the women should hit or bump SDSU back when they get bumped. So much was made last year and early this year of how physical of a team SDSU is, how they win by out-physicalling teams and then intimidation becomes a factor. In the game at Hyslop earlier this year the UND women proved that when you hit them back SDSU will back off and go hide in the corner, and in embaressing fashion. It sounds kind of corney to say about a women's game, but the Sioux have to beat SDSU right back when SDSU attempts to do so.
  12. I'm not disappointed at all, in fact I am happy that CSP got shown the door in blowout fashion. We've been discussing for a week how big of a joke they are, and it was proved tonight. For them to make it to the region chamionship game would've been another joke. It shouldn't be such a surprise if anyone lost respect for the bunny women considering the way the players literally quit on their coach at Hyslop. And UND is lucky to win tonight, they played one of the 2 best teams in the country tonight, and a wins a wins a wins a win. No matter how it is sliced, it still goes in the first column.
  13. Sounded like a pretty exciting final 10 minutes. The good thing is that the other top team is out of the way. UND and NDSU are the 2 best teams in the region, maybe the country, and it seems like if they played 100 times each team would win 50 of them. I lost respect for the SDSU women after the punding they got at Hyslop earlier this year, really good teams do not get blown out like that, they do not quit like I thought SDSU did. It would be nice to play CSP, just to prove to everyone there and the committee what a gigantic mistake they made in the seeding. If CSP wins tonight, the ticket situation could be crazy for Monday night.
  14. And I see that UND Fan beat me to it and was thinking the exact same thing .
  15. Sioux up 41-24 at halftime. No one should count their chickens yet though. Sioux in big-time foul trouble inside, Leighton has 3, Boese 2 and Demaine 2 and giving up a million offensive boards. Luckily, the Bison are shooting less then 25% from the field with Klabo having missed at least 3 wide open layups. I'd be shocked if it doesn't end up a barn-burner, you know the Bison won't get blown out.
  16. There isn't a person here who doesn't understand that the number 1 seed gets the regional, UND has hosted a bunch of them so that isn't new info for us "hillbillies". What is a joke is that CSP is the #1 seed, you won't find many people who would argue that. Your attempts personal attack attempts at petty at best. No one cares that CSP is private school, that they have to raise their own dough to improve things. The first thing that should be improved is attendence, they averaged about 500, WOW!! Congrats to CSP, you have obviously overcome all the adversity in the world with not relying on state funding, it is hard to believe that they have made it this far, sniffle sniffle, God bless that fine university for not crumbling from the core. I hope their fine "student-athletes" can continue to do well in men's basketball, on the tough NSIC gridiron, and the daunting task that is NSIC women's basketball, God knows they deserve everything that has come to them while fighting through all the unforseen funding problems.
  17. I don't go back to Kareem and Walton, I go back to about '91 when Don Mclean, Tracey Murray, Gerald Matkins, Darrick Martin, and Shon Tarver ruled the day. Our '95 squad is the best NCAA team since the 76-77 Indiana Hoosiers, maybe '90 UNLV but that is a whole nother debate. Toby, Edney, The O'Bannon's, Zidek, Cam Dollar, JR Henderson, real good club that won the National Title without their PG. Lavin ran us into the ground, recruited without regard for position and took on transfers who couldn't play for no real reason, we have no PG. Wait 'til next year. You heard it here first, Jordan Farmar, Mickey D's AA PG from LA Taft HS, '05 National FR of the Year, UCLA Bruins in the regional championship game next year. Now you 2 get back to work and let me grieve.
  18. It hurts a little, hurt a lot more last ight. Next year's recruiting class is sick, 2 McDonald's AA's, and it sounds like we will add 1 more. Sounds like one of them is a Toby Bailey clone, so we will return to our dominating ways. Legend, I haven't wtched much NBA lately, how them Celtics doin', better yet, how long 'til Larry gets run out of Indy?
  19. Drew Vanloy is taking a medical redshirt, and Nick Weiland is taking a normal redshirt after not doing so his FR year, and Metzger was essentailly homesick and went back to the Mankato area.
  20. A little birdie, that's right. They will be off to sunny FL in a few hours here, going to have to keep up with them, but it is a busy weekend, hockey, women's bball, state HS hoops tourney this weekend, and UCLA begins their run to the PAC-10 tourney title tonight as well. This is the best time of year. Hopefully all the Sioux's arms can come through, patch together some wins, and you never know.
  21. Olson's brother Ross plays baseball at UND. David Tanabe was born in and lived in GF until he was 13 or 14.
  22. A little birdie told me they are a little thin on the hill and very young there and are playing a lot of young hitters. There is a hole in LF that needs to be filled, but they are very solid up the middle. The NCC will be down, with Mankato and Augie having to be the favorites.
  23. This JRent94 is quite the character. I have laughed as I read every one of his posts, could he be Bisonfan1234's brother??? As for my guess to somebison's question, I'll say 2500, and that is if they bring in 4 bleachers they took off their softball field to put behind each of the hoops, those look real good behind the basket and provide for great comfort as well. It's laughable that anyone would argue for having the tourney at CSP.
