  1. What good could plotting someone else's wealth on a graph possibly accomplish for anyone? White, black, rich, poor...none if it matters if you're a miserable SOB. Never blame someone else for what you don't have. Life's too short, and you'll never have everything.
  2. RIZZO'S SONG Is it the worst thing I could do, To not play hockey for the Sioux. The message board may think I'm trashy, And no good, I suppose it could be true, But is it the worst thing I could do. I could stay with the boys in green, Fill the Ralph, make the big screen. Press against the student glass, After we kick the Gophers' ass, But if I play for another crew. That's a thing I'll never do. I could score goals every night, Sing Chelsea Dagger, feel right. It'd be like heaven every day, In front of thousands, I would play, Now it's a dream that won't come true. I could help out UND, Could win number 9 'cause of me. If I come to the Forks on the other side, I'll realize a part of me died. When I come to their rink. The reality might stink. Yep. That's the worst thing I could do.
  3. I got chills...they’re multiplyin’.
  4. Must be the whole 'masks on campus' thing.
  5. It's part of the holy trinity...right up there with burning down auto parts stores and toppling statues. We're that close to utopia!
  6. You're on a very slippery slope. And one that is all too familiar in these parts. YOU found Redskins offensive, so it has to go. Okay...what if SOMEONE ELSE finds Fighting Sioux offensive? Does their opinion not matter at least as much as yours? That said, if there is any intellectual honesty to be had, all humanoid nicknames should go. The Irish, Catholics (Padres, Deacons, Friars), Norse (Vikings), they've all pissed at least somebody off. Hell, even the Aztecs probably still have a few enemies. And don't get me started on those awful, awful Trojans.
  7. I realize that across the board, America's tastes are evolving, and that demand for 'greasy fast food burgers and fries' is going to seem to be down. That, coupled with a months-long economic freeze, can certainly be expected to hasten the departure of any number of restaurants, including underperforming chains and franchises. While Chick-fil-A was and still is a tremendous get, my bigger concern is that GF, and even to an extent, Fargo and the rest of the state, is not drawing to the trendy, fresh, darling chains that seem to be thriving elsewhere. Raising Cane's is one example; Zoup! is another. People like choices and variety, and even a Chipotle, Pancheros, or Panda Express would be a welcome addition north of Fargo. 17th and Columbia seems like a strategic location; blocks from Altru, a stone's throw from RRHS, half the distance from the north side as 32nd. The future of that piece of land will be telling, assuming Hardees is indeed a close and not just a remodel. That said, the new north-side TJs is going up fast. On a semi-related note, will we see new construction post-COVID lead to a re-imagining of the dining experience, with an enhanced focus on drive-thru, curbside/to-go, and distanced seating? I personally don't think that the current real estate model will permit the kind of long-term drive thru changes that would be needed given what I'm seeing in many places. The push for dine-at-home has absolutely strained the limits of vehicle capacity, affecting street traffic and not in a good way. Stay tuned.
  8. COVID-19 survivors' memorial. 100 empty bronze hospital beds spaced 6 feet apart, with a 15 foot statue of Fauci in the middle.
  9. Asinine. How the closure can include bike trails is simply unfathomable. I feel confident that most people would just as soon take their chances with the virus. Government fear mongering is out of control. And the power has gone to their heads in the worst way. Which is it...social distancing and masks? Stay at home? If the masks work as advertised, what's the problem? If they don't work, why the constant badgering? Does personal liberty mean anything to anyone anymore? Who are we even protecting at this point? The sick and elderly, or the fragile egos of those who have pushed all of their chips into the middle in the name of 'one death is too many' on little more than paranoia and self-aggrandizement? Who wants to live in this version of America anyway?
  10. That's either a new expression, or the worst (non-vulgar) autocorrect in history.
  11. Which citizens, exactly, are you criticizing? I think there are plenty of us who have embraced #factsnotfear and are living our lives, working, shopping, eating, recreating, getting haircuts, etc., but who understand the risks and are managing them effectively. Some of us will eventually test positive, some will get sick and yes, some will die. And, perhaps shockingly to some, there are countless others who have thrown caution to the wind and are engaging in excessively risky behaviors. Many of them may test positive, many may get sick. Yet...get ready for this...some will still not get sick. The only common denominator is that none of us are willing to "listen" to people with a perverse desire to suppress human nature and stifle normal behaviors for uncertain objectives and who can't seem to embrace the simple fact that one of the most important "sciences" at play here is statistics.
  12. Will it smell lemony fresh on the inside?
  13. Was the curve flattened, or not? If the curve was never capable of being adequately 'flattened,' then the entire exercise was one in futility.
  14. Rumor has it the personnel cuts are being made on the football field, to reduce cleanup expense.
  15. Maybe Duke’s plane will get diverted from MSP to GFK because of a snowstorm, and ESPN will pressure them to put something on during the Devils/Gophers ACC-B1G time slot. #packthebetty
  16. Are they putting a 10-second delay on Larson's in-car radio?
  17. COVID-20 would like to have a word with you.
  18. Greatest. Thread drift. Ever.
  19. Well, in fairness, he did go down a level.
  20. No...the equipment staff ran out of hyphens.
  21. Health, safety, and welfare. Of everyone involved. Simply not a good idea to stretch anyone too thin, especially during the heat of summer. Also gives the authorities time to reset, pick up loose debris, clean up the protest/demonstration area, replenish supplies.
  22. Yeah, it's word of mouth or bust for them at this point. Not a lot of foot traffic at the Mall...especially in the food court.
  23. Maybe opposing teams would turn their backs in protest while these two were serving. Could be a huge tactical advantage.
  24. El Gordito at the (don't laugh) Columbia Mall Food Court is pretty good and worth checking out. Authentic Mexican, moderately priced, not super fast if you're in a big hurry. They are a satellite location for the restaurant in Crookston.
