Tad judgmental this morning? Wealth and income are not exactly synonymous.

Best part about the "stimulus" is that high earners who lost their jobs/livelihood due to the lockdown (and through no absolutely no fault of their own) get NOTHING, that is, until they file next year's taxes and can claim a credit. The income threshold for this "relief" is an absolute joke. If you think $175-200k/year for a household is "wealthy," then you are out of touch. Classism is ugly in both directions.

The extended power trip a handful of elected people are on is boundless. If everything's an emergency, then nothing is an emergency. At what point can our slightly more representative form of government (state legislature, city council, etc.) finally get involved. Don't they owe it to us? As flawed as the state legislature is, at least there could be open debate about the necessity, scope, extent, and duration of restrictions. One size does not fit all.

Not to be crass, but in the end were her fears justified? Did she die prematurely from a contracted illness? If not, isn't that the lesson here?

Frankly, I'd respect all of them a lot more if they would simply put out an objective set of criteria for moving forward. But...

I think we can dispense with daily briefings, pressers, and numbers. Data fatigue is real. Even for experts, trying to monitor this information on such a micro level is absurd, and to extract anything meaningful is impossible. It's damn near reckless to distribute it to lay people.

Enjoyment of life is about as essential as it gets, no? Life is too short already. Putting things on hold until some arbitrary, imaginary level of 'security' is reached is madness.

This is not an attack on SV, but it's this zero tolerance mentality that's dragging everything - and everyone - down. It's simply not realistic. People have got to get comfortable with the notion of being around COVID-19 infected individuals. That's life. It's always been that way. Viruses and cockroaches will outlive us all.
