The two-game lead is the most dangerous lead in hockey.

Boy, you're a special kind of dumb.

You're serious? Masks Sporting events Dining out Travel Do I really have to list these?

Give people back the right to make their own choices, and you'll find out.

You can stay home if you'd like. Where does this "how dare I get sick, and it better not be your fault" mentality even come from? Do you have a solid grasp on your own mortality? It's the human condition. Living, illness, dying. Choices. Risks. Why are there so many special people all of a sudden who think they have dominion over any of this?

Does it occur to anyone that the reporting of "outbreaks" at college campuses might be a bit off the mark? Especially since the semester just started. If these are first time testers/first time positives, they most likely came to college WITH the virus. The only thing breaking out is detection. Are any communities aggressively testing healthy, asymptomatic 18-22 year olds at anything approaching the level of their schools? #factsnotfear

First round: 5 4-1s, 3 4-2s. Someone should run numbers historically, but it just seems this year like there are an unusually large number of teams playing with resignation once they get down in the series. Bubble fatigue? (Last year it looks like there were 5 game 7's in the first two rounds.) Boston is a great example. Played lights out early in game 1 to go up 3-0, but Tampa closed strong. Bruins lose game 2 in OT, and then get outscored 10-2 in next 2 games. Just not the same team on the ice.

And by "killed," do you mean the "died with" or "died from" variety? This is one of the biggest problems with trying to discuss COVID. You just reversed course (radically, I might add) from the statistical validity of testing rates of asymptomatic individuals to the historic significance of a disputed, arbitrary body count. Can you possibly stay in one lane for even a single moment? Maybe we should focus on excess deaths, age of decedents, expected life span, and underlying conditions.
-
Point me to a time in history when we have tested this many asymptomatic people for any single contagion/pathogen. The data here is not entirely meaningless, but it's getting close, as there's literally no reference point for sampling. It may well be that we've already exceeded the useful aggregation of data and that further testing is overkill. Statistics is science, too, although not a popular one in the overall COVID fear-mongering narrative. And just IMAGINE what would happen if we conducted the same level of testing for ___. What might we learn?

Two immediate reactions to this: - Why 11? Wouldn't 6 or 7 make more sense? #11isthenew1 - Hell yeah for bars in Manvel, Thompson, EGF, and elsewhere!

Post-game presser for CGY: Really proud of our guys. They played a full six minutes tonight, when everything was on the line.

Fascinating. I wonder how many of these newly christened activists have ever taken a stance on hazing, suicide, DUI, alcohol and drug abuse, and distracted driving? Which would account for far more deaths of college-aged individuals than COVID ever will. I guess because then the answer to his rhetorical question is "a lot."

New Taco John's on Gateway is open; nice concept. Open and airy. And most of all, clean. Hearing the 24th Ave location is now closed; possibly for reconstruction or remodel. Which badly needed to happen.

This seems like a huge smoke screen. Young healthy people have nearly ideal COVID outcomes, so where are the damages? Surely it will have been the players' choice to play or opt out for the season. And how many 18-22 year olds would enjoy having their personal lives exhaustively probed and cell phone records disclosed, detailing all of the places they had been before they were "tragically stricken" due to the "callous indifference" of the conferences, coaches, and schools?

Upvoted not because I enjoy working that hard for a yuk, but because I want to see this thread succeed.

The funny thing about comparing COVID to other causes is that it is literally a convenient label for tens (hundreds?) of thousands of deaths that were going to occur anyway. Patients in their 80s. 90s. Underlying conditions. Motorcycle accidents. How many "COVID victims" were likely to see their next birthday? How many were rotting away in LTC? How many had visits in the past 12 months from loved ones? How many were (mentally and spiritually) ready to die? If you want to "rank" these things and be credible, I think you'd better be prepared to present some reasonably comprehensive data that shows each cause historically, and currently, and relative to one another. If you have a link, please share. A nice bar chart should do. And then, maybe, those of us who remain skeptical might actually listen. Because until I see that kind of information, I'm going to continue to worry far more about heart disease and cancer than COVID. And motorcycles. Until then, please remember...NOT EVERY DEATH IS TRAGIC. OR EVEN SAD. AND EVENTUALLY WE ALL DIE. The real tragedy here is if some of us stop living.

Not sure I like the move. Lost opportunity to cash in with casual viewers drawn in by the marathon match that is generating a lot of non-hockey buzz, in addition to the special circumstances of this year's playoffs. Would be nice to have 2 prime time games deep into the night, They're big boys...they can stay up late.

Instead of sponsoring bricks at the new Union, you can now sponsor a sheet of plexiglas or a container of Clorox wipes.

You're a special kind of dumb. You would remove my choice whether to wear a mask and happily replace it with my choice to wear a completely useless mask, and you don't see a problem with that. The only spread I wish I could have prevented was the spread of your mom's legs.
-
Well guess what is required in public places, and private businesses, and by your precious mandates.

Can we finally pull the mask off this pointless charade? https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/08/us/duke-university-face-mask-test-trnd/index.html The illusion of safety appears to be a powerful drug.

Smiling Moose has some pretty good breakfast items, which they serve all day. Give them a try!

2020-21 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
NoiseInsideMyHead replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Maybe a 3-goal game during a pandemic with no fans in attendance should be called a mask-trick, and everyone in the arena who happens to be wearing a face covering should be required to throw theirs onto the ice.
