  1. Expect for the... oh I don't know, this could have been done months ago and prevented all this nonsense. If he knew it was a no go in March......
  2. I'll give you the whole statement made by the person who started the petition and draw your own conclusion. Jul 24, 2015 — Hey everyone, we would like to thank you for helping us to spread the word and joining our petition. Everyone’s feedback and the support for the UND/North Dakota nickname is appreciated and extremely helpful. As many of you already know, President Kelley sent out an e-mail this morning to the students of UND. In this aforementioned e-mail he thanked the committee for their hard work and tireless communication with their constituents. He also addressed the public’s outrage over the removal of UND/North Dakota as a nickname possibility while stating that is opinion is that “it is in the best interest of the University to have a new nickname.” President Kelley stated that his plan is to review the feedback received over the next few weeks and consider the possible addition of UND/North Dakota in a to be determined voting process. With the help of students, alumni, faculty, multiple various media outlets, as well as avid UND fans, we were able to get President Kelley to openly respond to the public’s outcry. Unfortunately, this letter does not instill much faith that the UND/North Dakota nickname will see a fighting chance at becoming the official name of the University. This decision should not to be made by one individual whom is attempting to instill their own agenda upon the stakeholders of the University. With this being said, President Kelley should allow a fair vote to let the majority decide what is best for the University. We will continue all of our efforts to make sure that UND/North Dakota gets placed on a ballot so that the nickname can be chosen in a fair and non-controversial manner. We ask that you do not let Kelley’s most recent statement deter your sentiments; our situation has not changed. North Dakota is not yet back on the list. Also, we ask you to please forward your comments and concerns to President Kelley via his e-mail or phone number using the contact information listed below. Once again we must continue to pressure President Kelley and his administration to reinstate the University of North Dakota option as a potential nickname in a balloted form, which is to be voted on at a later date. The more feedback we present to him the harder it will be for him to not allow the option on a ballot. This entire process has been corrupt and unjust to the University and all of its stakeholders and we cannot let this injustice stand. Keep up the pressure and let your voices be heard.
  3. I think the petition people are catching on With the help of students, alumni, faculty, multiple various media outlets, as well as avid UND fans, we were able to get President Kelley to openly respond to the public’s outcry. Unfortunately, this letter does not instill much faith that the UND/North Dakota nickname will see a fighting chance at becoming the official name of the University
  4. No matter where everyone falls in this debate. One thing cannot be debated This has turned into a major debacle.
  5. -3 I'm seriously at a point to where they need to start from scratch.
  6. If I could sum this up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4V0TYIO6yv4 I swear this is going to make a great book.
  7. So a hypothetical. When this all started, if the no name option was axed right away in march, would the backlash be worse, the same, or less?
  8. I do get that the charter was to get a final list of name, but how hard would have it been to get someone to get even a rough logo for each of the 7. UND Art Students could have came up with something in-between those 6 weeks of meetings. Give the public, who will be voting a general idea of what to expect. Oh well, it is what it is. Guess I will wait until August 2016 to see the final product on the field (nickname and logo) together.
  9. IMO one of the bigger issues I had with the committee throughout the entire thing was zero discussion of any logos. When they got down to the final 15 or even the final 7, they should have contacted someone to get some logo that could be associated with each name and put them out to the public (not those god awful ones that the Herald put out). A good, clean logo will make an average name look good. But instead, we now have 5 names where: 2 of them we have no idea what would symbolize it (Sundogs, Nodaks) 2 that claim to have trademark issues but people know what it is (Roughriders, North Star) 1 that people know what it is, but lacks originality (Fighting Hawks) We don't even know how the logo is going to look? Are they hiring a committee again, hire me as the consultant, I'll do it for 50K. Lowest bidder
  10. To me its the best way to go about if we have 4-5 left. Is it perfect? No, because we still can have a close vote. In my scenario, we have 5 names in round 1. Take the top 2 and revote. I would add this one criteria. If a name gets a supermajority (over 66%) in round 1, then there would be no need for a 2nd round of voting. But what do I know, I am a millennial college student
  11. IF... all 5 names are still on the ballot, or 4. There needs to be 2 rounds of voting. This part need to be done right where a MAJORITY (50% or more) can get behind a name. 25% out of all 5 name is not a mandate. If it gets cut to 3 or less, then go ahead with 1 round.
  12. To channel my inner gfhockey anything but sundogs
  13. There is a method to their madness, that weekend they picked is the same week is when all the students will be back. It is not a coincidence why they chose that weekend.
  14. I wonder why that weekend... oh wait. Welcome Weekend
  15. And now its 6... Green hawks next?
  16. My comment was with teeders UND was best and my reaction. Not surprised it was last.
