I was excited going into the spring game yesterday and left ecstatic. Braden Hanson had zero time for most of the game thanks to patchy OL but was still 5 of 6 with very nice catchable throws. Bradley has improved a bunch and has gotten stronger although you'd like to see higher completion percentage than 12 of 24 in a spring game. Hendrickson made some serious plays, he had some lazers and some nice deeper throws and showed his speed. The receivers made our poor DBs look terrible. Townsend looks like his ankle is coming around which is great since last year you could tell he wasn't 100% explosive on his cuts and running ability. Hardin was Hardin. McGill looked quicker. Jackson didn't get much oportunity but did have that nice catch where he made 3 people miss and then ran over a safety for extra yards. At 240 what DB will want to cover and/or tackle him? I would have liked to have seen more PJ Sparks, 1 carry was a bit of a slap to the face. Im very pumped to see the D next year. With two big time LBs not playing the D still looked good for the most part. Holes in the secandary were more apparent with the units split between teams. Next year I'm expecting a playoff run and contention for a Big Sky crown. And I'd love to meet up with NDSU in the playoffs I refresh their memories a bit of what we're all about.

With that said, we need to get on those facilities to be above NDSU in more than just character and atmosphere.

FAIL. FACEPALM. EPIC FAIL. With all of the good new progressive things going on for the football team they go ahead and do this to us? This was their oportunity to make yet another statement about how this program is comitted to being a top teir program. The only way they could make this worse would be to either put a bison logo at the 50 or make it brown. A 4 million dollar investment and they let a blind man design it? I assume that is the only excuse. Maybe there is a interlocking ND logo in braille at the 50. This is a CMON MAN moment if there ever has been one. What a failure, new locker room, new all blacks, and a new 4 million dollar rug. They could've done better to say the least.

percentage of a sellout would be a possibility though. 8731/25203= 34.6% of a sellout .346X12283 = 4249. That is doable on a nice day with how the hype machine has been rolling this spring for the football program. 8731 is an impossibility they would need to open up both sides for that to even be possible. How bout we shoot for more people than NDSU for starters.

just sailing through the horse latitudes right now. things will pick up when seth jones makes his choice

Thank you Buzz Killington

Who is everyones pick for the winning team and who is expected to make an impact?
-
Those aren't the two choices. They are: keep a nickname lose teams (football at least) and water down hockey, or retire the name and allow the athletic department prosper. There are no other options.

Here's a question. If there is no NCAA and we're in something new and different would other schools still have a problem with Fighting Sioux? It kinda feels like it to be honest.
-
i graduated a Knight and didn't think twice about wanting to have been a redskin. Fighting Sioux may be a better nickname than redskins. Redskins may be the dumbest nickname of all time by the way. The only red skin I've ever seen is sun burned white people in the beginning of summer. Anyway, although Fighting Sioux may be a more legit nickname compaired to redskins it still needs to go for the sake of the school itself. As a former athlete at UND I graduated a Fighting Sioux and grew up one but I have no delusions about how badly we can't afford to keep the nickname and logo. It's just time to move on, regardless of if some of us want it or understand why.

Central lost a bunch of talent to juniors. Red River didn't lose anything that I can remember. I'm not sure about other schools other than DL with Thompson and Minot with that one kid. And every sport has been down in the state the past couple years. Especially hockey and football in Grand Forks.

Not gonna lie. It's alot easier to lead youngsters than vets. They often listen better because they havent been there before and look up to the older guys.

Jameer Jackson absolutly obliterated some DB's trying to bring him down. Broke a good 6 tackles on two consecutive plays for first downs. He has a good 60 lbs on those CB's. They kept going lower and lower on him the more he ran them over. Nobody wants to hit him. Braden Hansen looked very sharp. Bradley was ok. The recievers and QBs didn't quite click for the most part. The running backs had nowhere to go due to the defense dominating the young linemen. The defense was flying around and made it a very long day for the offense, holding them to only one touchdown. The kickers were good today. No Miller kicking again. Naastad was 3-4 and Gutierez was 2-3 on kicks.

Porter anyone?

Are there any kids from the GF schools that could be prospects? Any underclassmen even?
-
Hansen has it all but wrapped up. Hendrickson is making a good push for the number two spot, although I don't know if the coaches would be willing to demote Bradley to number three. Hansen will separate himself from the pack in the spring game.

Darryl Brown might need to start going by 'shut down" Darryl Brown after todays performance. He dominated what I saw of the practice. He has some serious swagger and game to back it up. Look for big things from him this year.

Don't forget that second semester the McMillan boys would be a great option together on a line with their history.
-
The late times will give the student body enough time to nurse their hangover and then get lubed up and actually support the football team this year. No student wants to wake up 'early' on a Saturday to watch football with a pounding headache.

Should be the black hole for that game
-
I know for a fact they're getting new unis, I had heard from a god source that some stealthy new helmets were in play but I haven't heard much of that recently.
-
Oh and speaking of D2 guys, Miller reminds me of a smaller slower Ryan Chappell.
-
I can't say Sutton is fast because he's not, but he is a load. The reason he gets hurt is becuase of how he runs and where he runs. He runs through people instead of around like Jake. At about 230 we need that type of physical back on our team. He gives our offense the balance it needs. Jake and Jer are quicker and faster but they won't be breaking too many tackles any time soon like Sutton does. They all compliment eachother and give us a well rounded backfield for next season which is very exciting. Also don't forget that Sutton was dominant against Fresno St. until he pulled his hammy. He's no Jake Miller but he can still ball.
-
care to elaborate?
-
He reminds me alot of Josh Murray. More powerful and hard nosed with more pop behind his pads and better long speed. He's very strong for a freshman and fast enough. But when you look at the depth chart this year doesn't favor him. Miller Sutton Garmin then Sparks if he's ahead of Butler if he comes back and Shagaubay. Should be a very solid special teams contributor and could get mop up duty but I don't see alot of carries next year barring injury.
