If the team doesn't go at least 3-1 in these last games this season will have to go down as one of the all time great failures in UND history.
-
That's because most of those ranked teams have won most of their game giving the teams they play a worse recored and in return weakening their strength of schedule. Had we won the Poly and NAU games we would not be number 2.
-
Those numbers would be way better with a good defense too..... The offense is outstanding. Unfortunately the defense is putrid
-
Montana will throw the ball a minimal number of times.....
-
Why not pull that jumbo play action pass on 4th and 1 against usd last year out of the old bag? We won that game on that call
-
It could look alot like the NAU game
-
Actually it was Bubba who built that program and left quite a nice team behind
-
Cal Poly at 14 is a joke, also NAU doesn't move up at all?
-
Tale of the tape Defense? If you can call it that.... UND Griz 33.4 ppg 27.6 ppg 228 rypg 105 rypg 214 pypg 256 pypg 14 sacks 25 sacks Offense UND Griz 37 ppg 30.4 ppg 173 rypg 239 rypg 266 pypg 196 pypg 11 TO 18 TO 42% 3rd 38% 3rd So it's their power run game vs our patty cake run defense and our passing attack vs their sieve like passing defense.....
-
This game should be the best attended game in years
-
When the protection is good and routes by the WRs are good Hanson is the man. When things are off and protection breaks down Hanson hangs in there til the last possible moment and gets some throws off to guys as he's getting hit and at least under duress. But watching Marcus come in for 30 seconds and run for 27 yards and then pass for a TD to give UND a chance gave us a glimpse of the Marcus from SDSU... the problem is he didn't give us consistency against Sac St, Poly, and EWU. That is why Hanson is now starting. Marcus had a huge opportunity to grab hold of his senior year and force the coaches to start him but he cooled off down the stretch.

Soooooo time to move on..... NAU game this week

To crank it to 11? All it takes is a clockwise motion with the hand, doesn't seem difficult to me. If they need new speakers they should get them, the ones at the Engelstad spontaneously combusted after 10 years of use so they should get on that before theirs go up in flames too -
POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?
geaux_sioux replied to ShilohSioux's topic in Football
NDSU had way better timing with the transition than UND -
They are technically sound enough and rally well enough to the ball to account for lack of speed. I know that NDSU has pretty quick LBs and DBs though. I'm just saying we need a few bad dudes, the likes of which you can't find up here consistently.

Not many of the real fans are giving up on this team. We do, though, have very high standards for this program. We're used to winning and will accept nothing other than that. The transition sucked for timing and now that we're clear of that mess it's time to win. For a program with 25 conference titles a national title and two bowl wins from the 70's we are expecting to be elite within the next 5 years. We should be a perennial FCS power by then and consistently at upper part of the Big Sky. There is no reason that we can't have a winning record from here on out with the occasional rebuilding year here and there. -

Anyone know why they still refuse to crank the music for the intro? They turned it up a little but cmon its a joke compared to how they crank it at the Engelstad. It makes the Alerus seem like a joke and takes away from the pregame intensity. -
Tough to find speed in this part of the country. Just don't miss bad on guys like Hall and Mackey. Get some big fast LB/DE tweeners that aren't developed enough yet to go FBS and develop them. I agree that most of the team should be midwestern kids because you can't find grit like that anywhere else but it's tough to find speed like we need around this part of the country. There are more of those types of guys in SEC country which means more that will fall through the cracks that we can pick up, they need to have the right attitude though.
-
We need more speed and length and nasty on defense. Lets recruit some thugs out of SEC country and get back to the good old days with multiple scary linebackers like Digger and Stroup and Hendrickson and Schmidt among others. Also a safety or two that hit like Ankenbauer did only not 5'2"
-
Maybe he's the next Chip Kelly, maybe he's not. What about hiring Ray Lewis after he retires? Not saying he would but he will make a great coach. Also, imagine him recruiting defensive players.

Lewis looked comfortable for the first time yesterday, he must have the feel for the calls now and doesn't have to think to play. Yesterday most tacklers were either trying to grab at the shoulder pads of the RB (which will never word in college ever) or just throw a shoulder hockey style into a RB who is either spinning or leaning into it and bouncing off. Not too many times did a guy explode through the hips of the runner with his arms around the legs..... thats on the players -

Their Oline is really good..... they probably won't pass the ball that much. -

The play that was a microcosm of the entire year on defense is when we have two guys, one on each side, of Bauman and they run into eachother with him in the middle and bounce off and fall down instead of stuffing him for a huge loss, something like 20 yards later they have a first down. I just about had an aneurism from that play.... unreal -

So your genius idea is to do press coverage on 3rd and very long? They need 17 yards, why try and stop short routes that won't get them a first down? You play 15 yards off to cover the sticks, the things is you shouldn't let them by you for a 23 yard gain, thats the point of playing off like that. Press coverage on 3rd and 17 is asking the offense to burn you and is just stupid unless you have some legit big shutdown corners like LSU. I get that people are frustrated with the loss and the defense in particular but at least if you're going to arm chair coach put some logic behind it if at all possible. Asking for press coverage on 3rd and long is plain stupid. -
His recruiting and special teams have been very good if not great those are 2/3rds of his jobs. The linebackers are young and injured but also need to tackle better. But as Ray Lewis will tell you, a linebacker can't do his job in a 3-4 defense with lineman blocking him. It starts up front.
